She is incredibly wonderful. I recorded this onto VHS tape when it appeared on TV and I played it over and over. It never gets old. I am SO THANKFUL that you uploaded it to YouTube. :)
Thank you so much for posting this video. Alberta Hunter was always one of my favorite singers. I'm so delighted to watch these videos but they also make me a little sad. Miss Hunter reminds me of so many people who helped shape my life. To think that they are longer here. When Miss Hunter sings "Old Fashioned Love" she is singing my anthem. I miss her dearly!
I also used to see her at the Cookery in the Village in the early 1970s. Thanks for posting these videos, she was remarkable and through the magic of video and You Tube, her music lives on. Plus she is right - save some of your money to keep your personal strength and integrity!
The fourth annual Starr-Gennett Music Festival celebrates "Blues and BBQ" September 11, 2010 at the Whitewater Gorge Park (South 1st Street) in Richmond, IN from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Inducted into the Walk of Fame will be ALBERTA HUNTER, Lonnie Johnson, and the Pace Jubilee Singers. Past inductee Charlie Patton will be honored.

I remember her on 70's when she was preformed in a club the village NYC.
She would talk to the audiences like they were her children.

That was the Cookery, she actually lived upstairs. I went to see her about 3 times a year when I lived in NYC.

She didn't live upstairs. She lived on Roosevelt Island.
