hey, I was wondering, have you a video of her singing Always? I LOVE that song and she does such a fantastic job!

  • @denisethepainter I will check.

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting.

  • Great! She has that kind of spirit you reach after a long life with ups and downs.

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. Alberta Hunter was always one of my favorite singers. I'm so delighted to watch these videos but they also make me a little sad. Miss Hunter reminds me of so many people who helped shape my life. To think that they are longer here. When Miss Hunter sings "Old Fashioned Love" she is singing my anthem. I miss her dearly!

  • She got that audience in the palm of her hand...

  • I also used to see her at the Cookery in the Village in the early 1970s. Thanks for posting these videos, she was remarkable and through the magic of video and You Tube, her music lives on. Plus she is right - save some of your money to keep your personal strength and integrity!

  • REST IN PEACE MISS ALBERTA HUNTER! YOU WERE THE BEST-EVER!

  • I've met prettier women, but none so beautiful!

  • The fourth annual Starr-Gennett Music Festival celebrates "Blues and BBQ" September 11, 2010 at the Whitewater Gorge Park (South 1st Street) in Richmond, IN from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Inducted into the Walk of Fame will be ALBERTA HUNTER, Lonnie Johnson, and the Pace Jubilee Singers. Past inductee Charlie Patton will be honored.

  • Alberta, I miss you !

  • Aaah. Isn't she just lovely?

  • They dont make people like this anymore, strong to the bone.

  • Ah, yes, Gerald Cook...what an elegant gentleman!

  • I hope the young men know what

    they have been up against!

    Michellivers: Thank you

very very much. This is GOLD!

  • I remember her on 70's when she was preformed in a club the village NYC.

She would talk to the audiences like they were her children.

  • That was the Cookery, she actually lived upstairs. I went to see her about 3 times a year when I lived in NYC.

  • She didn't live upstairs. She lived on Roosevelt Island.

  • this lady is a force of nature ---and if th rocks could speak , they'd sound something like this

  • True class and showmanship!

  • Amazing that she can still work magic with her voice in this great interpretation of the song that Bessie made famous !!!!

  • I had read about her when I lived in NY and a friend took me out on a date and we saw and spoke to Ms Hunter in the village in the seventies --She was gracious and it was so nice

  • so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she's precious

  • Many times Mitchell--hello--and never a bad table when Alberta was singing!

  • Oh my god--I used to go down to "The Cookery" in the Village to see her. Haven't seen her in 30 years. Love her so. Such memories. Thanks to mitchellivers for this.

  • I worked as a host at the front, showing people to their tables. Hope I gave you a good one. ;-}
