The audio that goes with the footage to some of the deleted scenes simply no longer exists. An example of this would be the footage where Regan and Chris are sightseeing.

I think those scenes are on the making of the Exorcist "The fear of God" As I recall, Friedkin removed them because he felt they slowed the film down to much. I think he should have reinstated them for the directors cut instead of adding all the Pazuzu subliminal imagery.

Given the asinine clip they restored with the blood coming out her mouth instead of the one where she chases Sharon, they should have left it out. I was really PO'd at the cheap shock they went after -there was no need of blood-the original shot was spooky, what they restored was cheap and cheesy.

@Coasterdude02149 I disagree; I think the bloody mouth is a more horrifying shock, viscerally and visually, than the somewhat comical tongue-flickering of the first cut of the spider-walk.

I heard that some of those clips were lost. I hope that they aren't. As an Exorcist fan, I love to see those clips too. They should release them on a special Exorcist DVD with the excised scenes as extras. Would love to see the Washington excursion scene.

i saw exorcist on its initial UK release. It was about the timing of the release that made it so scary.. Amityville 2 came after such films as Halloween and Friday 13th and the impact was so great
