  • I do not play in the NFL and I can rep this weight without bands and without an illegal bridge. Keep your ass on the bench yo!

  • I wanna see his big ass do it with out the band,

  • then it wouldn't be a reverse band press now would it, you dildo

  • well that big ass plays in the nfl.

  • Yes, this looks like a very good strength exercise and I suppose it not only works for the elite athlete but at any level.

Rubber bands (of different kinds) can also be used e.g. for sprinting (which is what we do a lot) and vertical jumps. In sprints, they help to accelerate, in drop-jumps they decrease the support time.

As a coach, no matter what sport, you have to be knowledgeable and creative. That is exactly what those videos show.

Very interesting, keep up the good work!

  • Congratulations on your first TD tonight Mr. Anderson

  • Finally, some useful comments. No one had ever been able to explain to me what reverse bands were for in a satisfactory way. I'm about to try that shit myself sometime soon. Good video guys keep up the good work. I gotta say that watching all of these is hella motivating

  • go deon wooowooo thats mii cousin!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg i wanna train at defranco's.

  • guadango is right man your an idiot read some westside barbell and see if you still feel like a smart guy

  • oooo thanks for the info

  • thats my boiiii deon

  • ive seeen defrancos traingin using that rubber band thing alot what does that do for you????

  • Powerlifters generally wear a shirt in bench press competitions. It helps them through the inital portion of the lift. A reverse band press mimicks the use of a shirt. As the bar is lowered to the chest the bands are carrying some of the weight. So lets say there is 475 on the bar, when the bar is on the chest the bands will support some of it so i might be 375 on the chest and gradually acclimate up to the 475. Its a way to train the lockout portion of the bench.

  • yeap... and it increases your bench as you do it.

  • Thanks for that... I don't think this has ever been explained before and I have been training since I was 12 yrs and now 37 so, thanks again... You always have to keep learning cause that is the way of life... their is always one way to skin a cat.

  • Love the training videos from DeFranco's camp. They've always got motivational and innovative techniques in addition to the caliber of athletes that they train.

  • He isn't any Larry Allen but that's more than I can bench.

  • Rubber band bench pressing????????????

Bench pressing requires shoulder, chest and arm interdevelopment and interaction.

Maybe my observation is incorrect but using rubber bands to lift the barball appears to remove the arm, chest and shoulder interdevelopment. It could phased another way-unfair advantage!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why don't you learn about training before you go and make dumb comments. People from all over the world are making fun of you right now and you have no idea.

I suggest you take the comment down yourself, cuz I know the owner of this video is getting a huge laugh off of your stupidity.

  • i didnt think he was that strong... i saw him play at conn for 4 years and he didnt look like a power lifter

  • Haha to be a great college/pro athlete you want to be ridiculously strong but not look like a power lifter. Thats Defranco's goal. He wants to increase speed and explosiveness and at the same time increase strength. He's a genious cause his stuff all works

  • Deon had a great game last week, Dallas needed it big time against the bills

  • NICE!!!!

  • its not like using chains or boards its more like using a bench shirt but alittle easier.the bands there using are #4 jump stretch bands they take about 100lbs of there bottom of the lift and about 50 at the top .the reason its easy than a shirted lift is because the bands also help with stablizing the bar. but its still a good lift.i do them about every 3rd week and use the same bands and i do around 550 to 600 lbs but i also bench 455-475 raw on any give in day .

  • 475 is still fuckin' hard!!!!!

  • i didnt say it wasent i was comenting on the preson below my coment

  • Same concept as benching with chains, or somewhat with a board press

  • aight so is his nickname already TANK if not it is now....SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTT 475lbs..thats why there aint no shit talkers!!!!

  • wow that was sick

  • the cowboys r gona kill this year.. in the good way

  • thats tight...i've never seen the reverse band bench before

  • i dont understand the use of the reverse band??

  • there is less resistance in the bottom position, but when you get closer to lockout you're getting 100% resistance, its designed to work the lockout.

  • then you're obsolete in 2007

  • I'm surprised that the retards who critisize everything on youtube haven't shown up yet. But then again I see nothing wrong with his lift there.

  • My nigga!
