Ok, here is the real story for all of you that where misslead, i live in WI and heard this guy talk on a local radio station just a cuple of days ago, he said when the truck hit 1million miles GM was unable to provide him with a new truck, a year later they offered him a new truck as long as he sold them his old one, HE TURNED THE OFFER DOWN, he said the truck meant to much to him and he had shows that he scheduled to take the truck to, SO THAT IS THE REAL STORY
I rather drive ford than government bale out trucks. I mean chevys are nice its just if gm upgraded there interior they would be better. I just heard that gm finally paid back the government. I'd rather drive a chevy than a dodge. Anyways its all in what you like. Dude you need to chill the fuck out. You dont ever want me in your face. Cause ill fucking hurt you so bad to where youll be crawling to the E.R. You dont want to get me worked up
I swear if someone says fords are shitty again i will knock your fucking teeth out. I love all american made trucks. My dad has 2011 ford f250 with the new 6.7 powerstroke diesel. Every one says oh get this thats a shitty truck. Its peoples opinions its just what truck you like. Im just fucking tired of everyone being lil pussies about it
well fuck if people would do regular oil changes and maitnece everyone could make their engine change i just bought my truck if my engine goes ill rebuild it and watch it go 1mill
@Broadcastbuddy2 You still realize that's a transmission every 200,000 miles right? A lot of cars are lucky to get to 150k on a transmission. It's the original engine btw.
I hope Chevy hooks him up with a new Vehicle, after all this kind of thing beats any kind of advertising that Chevy would otherwise have to pay to produce. Another family friend has a Chevy Suburban that I was with him when he bought it new and it just rolled over 303,000 miles. Great Trucks, but I'm still a German car guy!
My 98 F-150 has 270k, runs like a champ never have had any issues besides a couple bruises from other idiots, although, my explorer blew a head when the oil froze at -27 degrees and it had only sat there for 2-3 min as i scrapped the ice.... Should have let it sit longer but it had 197,500 miles, not bad for an '02 haha
damn i would rather get a good job and buy another truck when i want rather than try and make it last 1 milion miles to get another one. plus they never said anythign abou the maitnance done could have been rebuilt
350s last if you take care of them. Sister's has 240k miles and runs strong, uncle's has 160k and runs like complete utter crap. You can guess which one maintains their vehicle and which one doesn't.
I'm more of a Ford guy myself, I'm at 201k with my '95 F150 351, but it still runs strong and I hope to break 300k and still have it running well.
I suspect most of these very high mileage trucks were mostly used on the highway.
the 307 is also a reliable engine. the 350 is nicer however, but GM has alot of reliable engines. the 3.8l v6 is a great example. my dad has a 2000 pointiac bonneville. 172k miles. no engine, no tranny, just keeps driving
alright fuck u all the 350 is the best and the most used and the most modified engine in the world if you dont believe me go fuck your self and loook it up
this damn near brings tears to my eyes. i love the 350, best damn engine ever built. i have a 89 camaro with a L05, same engine. they are some of the best engines ever built
I have a 1987 F350 diesel dually which I use in my landscaping business. It has the 6.9L diesel 5-speed manual. It has only 150,000 miles, but when u consider this truck plows in the winter, and usually carrying or pulling a load spring-summer-fall, and has been modified to run on vegetable oil, not bad. The only non-scheduled maintenance, new clutch, couple of body panels, alternator ($140), blower motor ($40). Question: how come we are only starting to hear about high-mileage Americans?
For all you commenters arguing over what manufacturers are better than others all cars are made of metal, all cars will rust, breakdown and need major repairs. Its all about the way you take care of your vehicle and the luck you get.
If I had been a head guy at GM, I would've given him a new truck for that old truck, then put that inside the GM plant on a platform with a one million mile plaque on it.
its all in the care. it dosent matter what you drive as long as you do what needs to be done it will get you there be it a ford or dodge too. i just think its cool though to se and old 91 go that far. that had to suck for him to get rid of it. i bet he keeps a picture of it in his house. i know i would
amen to that... i hope to push my 92 Ram 350 van at high miles... rebuilding rwd trannys are easy so i don't care of the rebuilds since that's expected on most trucks at high miles.
you have a piece of shit suburban. those arn't ment for towing, their ment for lots of cab space and for many peoples to get rides. its for transportation, not for pulling. get a real chevy truck to pull you moron. i hope you didn't get that truck because you wanted to pull because that would mean your stupid
Don't even say Dodge. And when you say Ford, you're pushing it. They make decent trucks, but Chevy always comes out on top quality and reliability wise.
hey in feb edition of diesel power magazine a chevy with a 6.2 diesel had a million miles on its engine too only origininal drivtrain parts were the engine and rear axle you can depend on your chevy
1 million miles is quite a milestone but other people have done it with other brands as well. An old man did it with a 1976 Toyota truck in the late 1980's and a Greek taxi cab driver did it with a Mercedes 220 diesel and only had to replace the seat. Frank's truck seemed to have been driven a lots of long highway trips which is the easiest driving for a vehicle.
For all you Jap crap morons out there that think 5 transmissions is alot for 1 million miles you are completely clueless. If you calculate it the transmissions lasted 200,000 miles a piece. To me thats reasonable life expectancy no matter what vehicle you drive. In todays vehicles you would be lucky if one lasted 100,000 miles.
gotta love those old chevys, those pickups have alot of heart, my sisters both drove 87 or 88 chevys as their first rigs and they were both great trucks, mine is an 86 (i like the 73-87 style) and its getting ready to roll over to 200k and it still runs like a top

also another thing for the honda haters out there. Honda's are japanees car's but there built in america with real american hands and american parts pool. Some of the parts come from ford and chevy designers so anyone with a bad attitude toward the H machine go do your self a favor and do some research on your automobiles and there part origans.
I'm gettin the sneaking suspicion you have one of those gay ass wings on your car don't you...c'mon...the first step to getting help is admission of a problem
no amount will excuses will deter from the FACT that your sending MOST of your cash to japan as opposed to buying a comparable domestic-youre a sellout.
i may never have owned a chevy but i can tell you gvuys this i have drove one at work for a long time farly new and it stays at the shop more then work go figure it's a chevy silverado with 60k.
Yea, and its a work vehicle probably driven by more than one person. Alot of people have a mentality of "Its not mine so I dont care about it" and they treat it like shit, and since you dont like american vehicles thats probably the mentality that you have towards it.
Routine Maintenence=Happy car regardless of make and model. Just because you have one example of a poorly treated car, doesnt mean they are all like that.
350 is the only good engine chevy produced? 327 is? they're all the same! They all came from a 265, just dofferent bore and stroke. 262,265,267, 283,302,327,350,400, not counting what racers have come up with on their own. Lets see that many combos come from any other engine family. I thought so
I beg to differ... as trucks, I've owned Fords, Chevies, Toyotas and Nissans... and can say that the most durable engine I've ever had was the 22r... the 2.4 liter Toyota 4banger. (I've owned 2 of them actually) I have one that is almost to 700k now. I'm sure the 1.6 is an excellent engine, but to say that the rest of Toyota's blocks are crap is wrong. Now I don't like Toyota's V-blocks, but their old I blocks are awesome.
BTW, congrats on that 350 pushing 1m... that's awesome!
So what I like honda people. So what if my dollar goes to japan or korea or anywhere else, shit you guys shop at walmart that shit goes back to china though it's corprate headquarts. So please people sending me your comments about how stupid i must be for saying honda's are easier on your wallet bite me.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The 350 is the only good engine Chevy has ever produced. However, Toyota 22R will put that truck to shame. Newer model Fords, Chevy, Dodge, & Toyotas suck. If you want a reliable truck then get an older truck.
I think you should learn about your engines before posting a comment like that.Chevy has made more exellent engines other than the 350.Now as for Toyota, haha the only Toyota engine that made it in my book is the 1.6l 16Valve EFI
ksbowles... while the 350 has definitely been a successful mainstay, I can't agree it was the best. The 327 would be my pick for their best high volume production V8. And some great old straight 6s... even had a 2.5 4cyl Chevy that I thought was a great engine. Nowhere near as good as the 22r, mind ya, but few engines ever could be.
I agree about the newer engines. Even the new Toyotas are disappointing. Especially the life expectancy of their Tundra's V8. I love the oldies. ;-)
the 22r is a complete POS, i owned a 77 celica when in college(i know but it was free) went through not one, not two, but three of those engines in the same car within a year and a half. i ran the shit out of it but certainly no harder than thrashing i gave the mustang gt that turd was replaced with. the mustang never complained.
305, 350. and 262 V6 are all the same engine block. Another good engine is the 2.8L/3.1 V6 which is also the same engine block. Chevy had lots of good motors.
@ksbowles toyota's last a long time but they suck at everything else because they are not american, if you want a good truck buy a ford or chevy... or a dodge if you want a car that looks tough but'll break down after a few thousand miles. and chevy has made better engines than the 350 so gtfo and don't post about things you know nothing of...... Thank you and God Bless America, and it's cars.
@ksbowles 350 the only good chevy engine? Are you stupid or what. Chevy has had many many good engines. Lmfao a slow ass gutless 22r will put a million mile chevy truck to shame? yeah... right.
If you take care of your car, your car will take care of you. The only pain my Chevy gives me is at the fuel pump, but nothing more. You probably have never owned a GM vehicle and have no leg to stand on from a reliability view
Import cars have basically the same maintenance schedules as domestic cars. So saying its friendlier to the wallet from a maintenance standpoint is ignorant.
Enjoy helping the destruction of our economy by buying import cars where most of the profits go back to japan.
I will try to get some pics when I get the hood back on. I might try to find another bed but I think the flatbed would fit my needs better. That is the best thing about chevy. It is so easy to build bodys for them and they can haul much more then what the GVW tag says.
I have a 76 C20 and that truck has been a real work horse. When I finshed restoring my 82 isuzu pup diesel I took the chevy off the road to give the old girl some much needed TLC. I rebulit the old 350 motor. that cost me 150 then I had a friend rebuild the th350 tranny cost 250. I had him put a shift kit in it as I use it to tow a tractor and backhoe. I have sandblasted the cab frame and repaintd the old girl but the bed is shot. I am thinking of building a nice flatbed body for it. will get
After 5 transmissions, 3rd gas tank, what do you expect.... Those model chevies had very bad automatic transmissions. Good Engines though. I hope GM buys him a brand new one!!! He deserves it.
i dont have to worry when i have to get a new car or engine for my camaro and suburban since i know that they will go 1 million miles and still run nicely.
HAHA not a single ford or Chrysler could do that or toyota honda any other car would break at 80,000 miles!!!!G Chevy!!!!!!!!!!!F.T.W.
1:04, it clearly shows KM/H on the speedometer. I'll bet this is really a million kilometers. If so, the truck really has 621,371 MILES on it. Still respectable.
Toyotaminivans...you're an idiot. I'm not even a Chevy guy, but i do have a f-150 with 473,000 miles on the original power train, and still runs great. And unlike toyota there is NO rust. Toyota is OVERRATED. Finally people are starting to take notice. Also toyota has a terrible history of honoring your warranty.
Yeah and my friends 08 Tundra leaking oil, broke a tie rod,and shot a wheel bearing all at 11,000 miles on the OD.I can go on and on about all the defective Toyotas everybody I know has owned but youtube only allows 500 words in a comment

i may never have owned a chevy but i can tell you gvuys this i have drove one at work for a long time farly new and it stays at the shop more then work go figure it's a chevy silverado with 60k.
egn2020 2 years ago

I thought so
pulppeeler 2 years ago
You forgot the 305 and the 307.
Chevypower265 2 years ago
yes i did. dammit! thanks for the correction :)

No problem at all.

So please people sending me your comments about how stupid i must be for saying honda's are easier on your wallet bite me.
egn2020 2 years ago
The closest walmart to me is 30 miles away, I buy all my stuff locally, and if my local store doesn't have it i will order it through them.
The money i would "Save" going to walmart, would be less than the cost of gas to drive there.

The 350 is the only good engine Chevy has ever produced. However, Toyota 22R will put that truck to shame. Newer model Fords, Chevy, Dodge, & Toyotas suck. If you want a reliable truck then get an older truck.
ksbowles 2 years ago
I think you should learn about your engines before posting a comment like that.Chevy has made more exellent engines other than the 350.Now as for Toyota, haha the only Toyota engine that made it in my book is the 1.6l 16Valve EFI
the rest are crap(I know from owning them)
ChevroletBowtie 2 years ago
ksbowles... while the 350 has definitely been a successful mainstay, I can't agree it was the best.
I love the oldies. ;-)
JackTumble 2 years ago
the 22r is a complete POS, i owned a 77 celica when in college(i know but it was free) went through not one, not two, but three of those engines in the same car within a year and a half. i ran the shit out of it but certainly no harder than thrashing i gave the mustang gt that turd was replaced with. the mustang never complained.
304teddy 2 years ago
305, 350. and 262 V6 are all the same engine block. Another good engine is the 2.8L/3.1 V6 which is also the same engine block. Chevy had lots of good motors.
craig1974 2 years ago
@ksbowles toyota's last a long time but they suck at everything else because they are not american, if you want a good truck buy a ford or chevy... or a dodge if you want a car that looks tough but'll break down after a few thousand miles. and chevy has made better engines than the 350 so gtfo and don't post about things you know nothing of...... Thank you and God Bless America, and it's cars.
xBringinSexyBack95x 1 year ago
@ksbowles 350 the only good chevy engine? Are you stupid or what. Chevy has had many many good engines. Lmfao a slow ass gutless 22r will put a million mile chevy truck to shame? yeah... right.

I like honda. Sorry Chevy's are to high maintenace nickel and dime machines.
My Honda is more friendler to the wallet.
The only thing I can give to chevy is that they have been around for a long while.
egn2020 2 years ago
I hear ya.People have difrent problems than others. For me,Chevy has never gave me one problem
ChevroletBowtie 2 years ago

BarneyFife82 2 years ago
haha wow!!!
i dont have to worry when i have to get a new car or engine for my camaro and suburban since i know that they will go 1 million miles and still run nicely.
HAHA not a single ford or Chrysler could do that or toyota honda any other car would break at 80,000 miles!!!!G Chevy!!!!!!!!!!!F.T.W.

There is a couple million mile fords and a dodge but GM holds the record
Go GM!
ChevroletBowtie 2 years ago
oh there is??
I am really amazed about the ford making it that far. But i guess for can make some nice trucks and cars
zackypoo25 2 years ago
1:04, it clearly shows KM/H on the speedometer. I'll bet this is really a million kilometers. If so, the truck really has 621,371 MILES on it. Still respectable.

Nope, its 1,000,000 miles on the Chevy

Toyotaminivans...you're an idiot. I'm not even a Chevy guy, but i do have a f-150 with 473,000 miles on the original power train, and still runs great. And unlike toyota there is NO rust. Toyota is OVERRATED. Finally people are starting to take notice. Also toyota has a terrible history of honoring your warranty.

1 million miles is like... 1,6 million kilometers. :D
and that's A LOT of kms

My dads 1980 Tercel looks better and ran really good until we had to move across the country and we sold it with 240K NO PROBLEMS!!!!!!
I knew someone with a 06 Silverado and the rear axle blew at 65K. Even more shitty

Yeah and my friends 08 Tundra leaking oil, broke a tie rod,and shot a wheel bearing all at 11,000 miles on the OD.I can go on and on about all the defective Toyotas everybody I know has owned but youtube only allows 500 words in a comment

In many cases they can be rebuilt for around $100, that is, if you know how to do it yourself.
