  • wow bakuman capter 3 bringed me here

  • Cool,nice

  • The G-Nib gives you so much control that I hear a few manga artists only use that nib, and nothing else to ink. Add a Maru pen and a few brushes, and you have all the inking tools you need.

You can use better ink than the kind you would get in those little ink markers, you get better quality of work and control, and what's more, they're much more cost effective. A good G-Nib will last you a long time if you know how to care for it.

  • @Numinous123 Most of what you say is true except one thing: the G-pen will NEVER give you control. I can prove that, if you want I'll make videos showing different drawings of the same quality using from the G-pen to your normal-ass ball pen and you'll see that if you use each one correctly, the result is the same. Remember that the tools are just as good as the artist. I use the G-pen and love it, but not because it gives me control, but because it's the one I feel more comfortable with.

  • @Miganishi

I'll agree on one thing. The artist makes due with the tools they use, however, I will disagree with you on the G-Nib. You can do things with a good dip pen that you absolutely can't do with a ball point.

I was an assistant editor at Marvel Comics, and still know plenty of professional artists. Many use different tools in order to obtain certain effects, but for some things nothing can replace a good dip pen. Many artists, American ones included, swear by the G-Nib and Maru.

  • @Numinous123 Alright, I probably exaggerated, not as far as a simple ball pen, but with any other kind of nib of course you can! And don't even try to deny it because you're talking to a guy who only used those nice old-fashioned pens to ink all his life, getting the G-pen just as far as 2 years ago and even before that I still could make some of those effects that I think you mean :)

  • @Miganishi

You certainly did exaggerate. I've known plenty of artists that work with pen, pencil, markers, brushes, dip pens, and who work purely on computer. Even some who work with Rapidiographs (Like Crumb).

Each medium has its advantages. Mike Mignolia, for example uses Staedler and Sakura marker pens in his work. But there's a reason so many comic and manga artist use dip pens and brushes. You might disagree with me, but facts are facts.

  • @Miganishi

Once again, I have proof on my side that you're not only exaggerating, but a major portion of the worlds comic book artists will disagree with you.

Considering I actually KNOW comic artists, have worked in the industry, and produce my own artwork... I feel comfortable saying, you're words do not hold water... at all.

A ball point? Are you kidding me? Try that joke of a claim on someone who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Now excuse me, I have some artwork to make.

  • @Numinous123 Trying to deny me? Go to my channel, click the link to my DeviantArt and then you say all you want :)

  • Where can I buy a G-pen?

  • @mertoness

You can get them at Jet Pens. Zebra G-Nibs are the most flexible. Tachikawa G-Nibs are much more stiff, but still offer some flexibility.

Couple that with a good mapping nib, like the Maru, and a brush, and you should have all you need.

Make sure to dip get the right pen holder for the Maru. I would buy one specifically for it from Jet pen.

To get rid of the protective coating on the nibs, dip flame them, or dip them in alcohol before use. You only need to do this once.

  • @Numinous123 Thank you

  • Where can I buy one?

  • WTF ?

  • no hobbies? why the fuck was I watching it omg xD

  • @Thrashzzz

    ผมว่าจะซื้ออยู่เหมือนกัน แต่ไม่รู้ว่ายี่ห้อไหนดีกว่ากันอ่ะคับ

    เพราะเคยใช้แต่เมาส์ปากกา WACOM

  • I love these traditional tools
