  • Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs. Thank you for the company you gave us.

  • Cheap so poeple can afford it? yea right

  • $2499 is 'cheap' eh? Funny how they consider that to be cheap and £399 for the BBC micro around the same time was considered 'expensive'. Were all americans super rich wall street moguels in the 80's or something?

  • Have fun when the boss is not around " he sure is right..

  • i want that clear one

  • Amazing video - thanks! I shared it with the Apple community on MyAppleSpace com

I'm sure they will appreciate it - thanks!

  • Xerox Alto can't be considered a commercial product because it was never sold in public, just used on the PARC campus.

  • Apple the innovation company

  • 1984: "Who the hell would possibly need 128k of memory?"

2010: "Who the hell would possibly need 1 TB of memory?"

2024: "Who the hell would possibly need 128 TB of memory?"

  • @globalbiznetwork

    you so stupid baby

  • hahahahah xD!!!!!

omg someone marked my answer -1! =(

Dunno-who didn't like to read the truth, I think xD

  • i marked +1... don't worry, i support you...

  • Yey ;) I guess truth is tough for some people... =P

  • those specs wern't there at the beginning. the 1981 macintosh design had a 6809E 8-bit processor, and 64 Kbytes of ram

  • 128kb wooooooow!!! not

  • Bill: "MS is choosing this Apple Macintosh enviroment because overtime the other enviroments won't be interesting." lol

  • Uncle Billy said so! That's why they've chosen it... to then copy it xD cause command prompts were so boring =P

I know GUI idea was Xerox's, but this way to do things is Apple's, that's what Microsoft truly copied. Xerox just had a prototype, and idea, nothing functional.

  • you forgot the Xerox Alto.

Its not just an idea. They had one of the earliest commercial graphical desktop.

  • we have come along way

  • I find it ironic that Apple now makes PC clones and markets them as Macs(and their PC clones are better than their old "macs" which weren't PC clones).

any mainstream personal computer on the market is now a PC clone. IBM's original design scales well and it's been a success.

you can say what you want about software(Mac OSX is a solid OS), but hardware wise, PCs are now king simply because PPC is dead(what older macs used), sparc is dead, and nothing else is really viable anymore.

  • Not to mention most linux mirrors can't be bothered to support the ppc arch as its like less than 5% of the total downloads.

  • Hey, wait there! Just to clarify, the new Macs aren't exactly true "PC Clones". They don't have a BIOS (they have EFIs), nor PICs and IBM legacy stuff. They can't run DOS and Windows runs over an emulation layer.

While I agree that the IBM architecture is commercially viable, I don't see it as ingenious as the original Apple II or Macintosh 68k/PPC architecture. It is messy and you have to go trough three different processor modes just to use 64 bits.

  • Well... we are... the most important part of it actually. We are the clients. Ultimately, it's our money making it happen.

  • if you'd like more apple/iphone news and speculation heard over to tylerhaze.wordpress.c0m

    replace 0 with o

  • Dang what a cutie Steve Job was and still is! :-)

  • Did anyone else realize that MacDraw looked exactly like the Windows 3.1 version of Paint? And Apple OS1 came out in the mid 1980s and Windows 3.1 came out in 1992. Does this seem odd to anyone else?

  • its not that cheap though

  • u know. the ball mice are just the original trackers turned upside down :p

  • Wonderful!

  • thanks!

  • go on youtube and type down the kookers!!they are so cool!

  • (whoopsies the comment below was ment for runescape400mil :)

  • bill gate@ 6:25

  • no dashboard?

  • dashboard come with OS X lol. this is the making of MacOS1

  • actually this is like the macintosh os.I dont think there was an os1. I know apple had a operating system that was there first. Ya-know, the lisa os.

  • at 49 seconds, he looks and speaks just like the Videlectrix guy! "I said make good graphics!"

  • Yes!

  • And as far as the "fuck macs and their shitty computers" Your username is Runescape400mil. May I add Runescape is one of the shittiest MMORPG's out there?

With such a great computer, why waste time playing a game that you could play on any computer with Internet and java installed.

Apple truly revolutionized the way people use computers.

    no doubt about that

  • Anybody know the song playing in the background?

  • Why does this get asked on every single Youtube video? :X

  • Gee, that's a fantastic point !

You must be right -- what, with the way Commodore is a household name today! Apple developers certainly "lack the talent"...

  • i love mac

  • SUPER NERDS.

    Lol.

    Jk.

    I love iMacs.

  • Having used both the XL and original 128k Mac when they came it I feel old. It seems like just yesterday I was playing Dungeon of Doom, trying to understand why Microsoft BASIC on the Mac was full screen and didn't use the UI of the Mac ... and who can forget Puzzle and MacPaint?

  • ok, it was invented for office use, and with games. what happened? I love my mac but how has their focus changed so much?

  • Apple had to change their ways because Microsoft had (and has, although loosening) an iron grip on those areas. Where Apple really (and always) ruled was Creative Pro apps, like film maker and graphic design. This is the area they had to focus on to stay alive.

  • except they just ruined that. Without INTEL chips now, they cant run a partition for windows, which means programs like Rhino or Autodesk cannot run on Mac. ALSO now that CS4 comes in 64 Bit, people will use a regular 64bit PC to run it. Mac still refuses to run a 64bit os.

  • OS X Leopard is 64 Bit. The issue is that apple does not allow carbon to be in 64 bit, which they changed at the last second. (Messing up adobes plans.)

  • Was That Bill Gates I saw early in this video?

  • yes

  • chuckiej said(2 hours ago -see above)

No, a guy on the team looked kinda like him. But when you compare to the Bill Gates at the end you see big differences

    Thanks for answering willteddy09

    Mac562007

  • No, a guy on the team looked kinda like him. But when you compare to the Bill Gates at the end you see big differences

  • Ya, you're right. Thanks.

  • I recently used a mac just like that it is surprisingly responsive.

  • I've never seen such huge glasses in my life! <3 MB

  • thanks!

    awesome to watch!

  • Thanks for sharing this. Kudos from QuadSix50 over at the 68KMLA. :-)

  • "developing on anything else (other than mac) just won't be interesting."

    -Bill Gates

  • Some of these engineers look like they need som social programming... and soap...

  • I can envision it now... 1980's MacBook Air. Weighs 5kg's, 10cm thick.

  • yea and it fits comfortably inside a standard size.. room

  • WOW i love the quality! lol

  • I want that mac!

  • Ahh, the 80's. When people thought it's aesthetically appropriate to put actual engineers into promotional videos!

  • Lol... the '80s - people didn't care how you looked if you are an engineer!

  • "and because we are apple, we included a couple of games"

And they will be the only games you'll see in the next 25 years on a mac....

  • HAHAHAHA! This is funny because it's true...!

  • You can run XP and all XP games on a Mac.. Are we paying attention? Yay!

  • awesome video!!! ^^

  • 32 bit processor?! holy shit!

  • "figure out how to make it cheap so people can afford it"

if only they stuck to this plan.

  • Actually it cost more then. so...

  • Yeah nevermind that they're talented geniuses; what good are brains if you don't look good? Welcome to Idiocracy.

  • "Microsoft is choosing this apple Macintosh environment because over time the other environments won't be interesting"

  • This is really amazing! Thank you SO much for putting it on YouTube...it's downloading to my hard drive as I write this.
