  • Gotta get down to it, 13 people are cutting us down.

  • Yeah. I don't really know why I threw Mumford and Sons in there. They were the only band of that style I could think of that wasn't completely full of shit at the moment.. Fleet Foxes are a much better example @nickfromCO

  • one of the best live performances ive seen. i like this live version better then studio versions ive heard.

  • I agree with @ascavuzz but not about mumford and sons most of there shit sounds the same but the black keys and tool are epic.

  • @ascavuzz Black Keys, Mumford and Sons, and Tool are the only current bands making original and consistently good music. It's not pessimism I'm trying to bring, but how has something that was once emotional, expressive, and artistic become something so used, marketed, and apathetic. Corporations making money off the artists now do not want artists like Neil Young being successful because they had an actual message so compelling and emotional it could sway people to stand and unite.

  • @verty08 in the modern folk era, fleet foxes are MILES ahead of mumford and sons.

  • great artist, great song, great venue

  • Ron Paul can sing? He certainly can't be pres.

  • Ron Paul 2012!

  • @kinceymoy True that brother! Rooooooonnnnnnnn Paulllllllllllllllll!

  • Every time I listen to this song I burst into tears. And I'm grown man with kids... What a song... Thank you Neil...

  • I'd give that a thumb down, actually. Neither u nor your generation r at fault here, actually. Read "How Clearchannel Runs America" or somesuch title, published in Harper's magazine. It's from now quite a few years ago, but ever relevant & was released onto the net, unlike many of their articles -- damn 'em! I think it was part of a two-part series, i think, called Big World, Small World. It's about how that company basic'ly dictates tastes by booking acts, owning radio stns, deciding what airs

  • Great Song and Great Performance by a Great Musician!!!!

  • May 4 1970

    Jeffrey Miller age 20

    Allison Krause age 19

    William Schroeder age 19

    Sandra Scheuer age 20

Plus 9 injured in 13 seconds by 67 rounds of gunfire

  • @Mark8395217 wasn't one of them 14 or something?

  • That voice of his.... geez neil. ya make me blush.

  • God bless you. I googled it, it's the right spelling. Bastards

  • Great song.

  • i know everyone says neil young is no bob dylan and of course dylan was a big inspiration to young but id rather listen to neil young than bob dylan, thats just my opinion though i love bob dylan but i cant find an artist as good as neil young in any genre of music

  • @TheDemize23 You should try Chico Buarque! Just a tip.

  • @dalhemarceleza thanks bro ill check it out : )

  • @dalhemarceleza I like it but I don't understand what he's saying so I can't rate him against neil young as one of the reasons I respect young so much is due to his lyricism

  • @TheDemize23 He's considered to be one of the, if not the most, revolutionary singers from Brazil. Even with any site that shows translated songs, you should know a little of the Brazilian History to get it well. He sings about protests a lot, but disguised as, at the time, the country was ruled by a military regime that was used to censor everything.

  • @dalhemarceleza sounds great, Ill check out more of his stuff :)

  • What a great tune .Alledly Neil Young wrote this when he was watching the tv and the events of the Kent State killings of students by the police because they were protesting at the time were being aired.David Crosby says he was there when Neil Young just picked up his guitar and composed and played this in a few minutes.Stephen Stills [for what its worth] still says the songs one verse short..Like "Helpless" its what it is, simple and resonating long after it was recorded

  • F n Adds SuuuuuuucK

  • It sounds soooo funky and fresh!!

  • Listen to that ovation!! GOD DAMMN!!

  • Comment removed

  • best riff ever

  • Kind of like Bloody Sunday in 1905 in Russia. The scary part is that some people still can't see how evil it is to shoot unarmed students for the "crime" of protesting under the First Amendment.

  • I got this show a while ago as a bootleg vinyl back in late 70's. lots of pops and scratches from playing it so much. nice to see the vid that goes along with the concert

  • With time comes wisdom. Ohio is now alive due to the 99%. Never again will we allow the corporate paid gov to undermine the awakening masses. NO more killing in our names. The militarized police state firmly in place to send us to FEMA camps, we must shine on and do away with the corporate 1% goal. Prosecute the corrupt banksters Mr holder. Mr Obama, simply keep your promises of CHANGE. So far, we see nothing different.

  • @lrinax you promise?

  • for those of you who don't know this is what the song is about:

    Kent State shootings...wiki it

  • This is the first time I've ever heard this song. And i can certainly guarantee you it wont be the last.

  • It would appear that, what with the top-o-tune ads, that the younger Mr. Young is now, indeed, singing for Bud.

  • @WeThreeBuskateers Haha good one

  • I'm 17 - i'd just like to take a second and apologize for what my generation has done to music.

    That is all.

  • @cheesymelvin33 - Its not you mate, its the greedy money machine and radio stations bowing to their wealth.

  • @OrbEmber the problem is white people buying into the jew propaganda that niggers have more artistic validity than whites- and that it is cool to emulate nigger taste in music and culture. That is why art is either stagnant or moving negatively.

  • @cheesymelvin33 no dude every generation has its good and shitty music.

  • @cheesymelvin33 Shitty music existed in the 70s too.

  • @cheesymelvin33 Try something new pal

  • @cheesymelvin33 To be fair, there's a shit load of awesome music out there man. New music. And i dont mean that pop and hiphop shit, i mean good rock and whatnot. Theres some really emotional and awesome stuff out there, just gotta know where to find it.

  • @cheesymelvin33 There's plenty of good music created as we speak! Don't get ostracized from what's going on right now just because it's easier to find the old stuff. When Neil and Bob was 20-something there existed a shitload of bad music, just as it does today, but there are plenty of good people trying to spread the word about what's going on this crazy ol' world. Find them and cherish them! Love!

  • @tobbabobba there's a lot of great music being made today can't find much rock and roll thats that good but maybe I'm not looking hard enough, interpol are ok but they haven't been the same since their first album, but underground hip hop is getting better and better although the commercial scene is a joke

  • @cheesymelvin33 There's no need to apologize, I would however, if I may suggest, study history, college of course. You state you are seventeen, now is the time to shape your opinion about society with a critical view of government, world and local. Write your own poetry, music and opinions about life's wonders as well as injustice and inequality for the less fortunate, this is a task I do not envy of yours, but the way, I'm in my late fifty's. Please inspire this older generation

  • @cheesymelvin33 right on bro!

  • @cheesymelvin33 No mate. Your generation and you personally has a lot of time ahead to achieve something great... I'm 29 and that's me who wants to apologize for what my generation has done to music.

  • @cheesymelvin33 - dont be so down on this generation, in 20 years people will be saying the same things about our generation's great music, the truly inspired stuff will be what lasts over time and be recognied as great

  • Comment removed

  • @cheesymelvin33 You didn't do it, Love....You just found yourself in the whole crazy mixed-up scenario....

Love that you are aware and care

    Hugs, Bridgette,

    xoxoxoxo

  • @cheesymelvin33 i feel your pain this shit they play is sicking, what is a dubstep anyway. it sound like jumbled up mess

  • @cheesymelvin33 yea i mean were so sorry

  • @cheesymelvin33 It's okay, we still have Neil

  • @cheesymelvin33 Thank you... :)

  • Im trying to watch Neil Young - Ohio, fuck this stupid 32 second taylor swift ad they wont even let me skip. F U WARNER BROTHAS

  • @EricPlummerr racist

  • @hectorfigs95 He is not being racist. Realism is important. Why waste precious advertising dollars and pay marketing managers to incorrectly expose their offering to the utterly incorrect target market.

  • @weSkydive05 I am black, and I don't find the word "nigger" to be simply expressing realism. I love Neil Young music but I don't see ads anyway. Firefox addons ;)

  • @EricPlummerr Wow and I thought that we as people, were past all this racism and bigotry!

  • My dream, is to have a performance relevant to this.

  • And it's actually really simple to play once you tune down to double drop D... not just perfect, but also something you can use at home if you play; lifts up your soul when you get into that rhythm let me tell ya!

  • F!!@K YA! WWOOOO! MOTHER F!!@KIN SOUTHERN MAN< TAKE IT YOU DIRTY WET LOOOSE DEEEEP DEBTED PEEENNNNYY WH@$# :D yaaa....premuch

  • 13 dislikes from family of the national guard murders

  • whats tuning is he playing this in ?

  • @happyhuggle09 It's double drop D, enjoy!

  • FUCK YOU BOUNCE COMMERCIAL

  • IT's happening again..now in the US

  • @DIESEL51ful its happening world wide. and people are blind to it

  • how could 13 people not like this

  • What would it take to get Neil to sing at U of Cal Davis???? I'd bring the PA system out.

  • 40 years later, and we've come full circle. I really wish the people in powers of position would stop hindering change.

  • @bettyanesthesia How are they "hindering change?" If you're talking about how they're trying to keep the indie music down, I beg to differ. If anything, it's starting to hit the mainstream. Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Wilco, Moby, Death Cab, and others are starting to win awards. Hell, Arcade Fire won the Grammy last year for The Suburbs.

  • You know what's depressing? I showed this to my little brother and he said it "sucked balls."

What is this generation coming to? It's too bad all of my friends have the same mentality. And, guys, if you're reading this, SCREAMO AND DUBSTEP SUCK.

  • @FreddieTheYeti

Screamo is a stereotype, not a genre and dubstep has been around as hardcore house techno for 10 years.

  • @MrBlatz89

Even after ten years shit is still SHIT!

  • @1138thz

Oh, nah, I hate this dubstep trend more than anyone xD.

  • @MrBlatz89 Well, what I was saying is dubstep as a genre has hit the mainstream, so now it's "cool." And, screamo is definitely a genre. Some artists such as Asking Alexandria, 30 Seconds to Mars, Black Veil Brides, and Brokencyde.

  • @FreddieTheYeti

    Post-Hardcore, Alternative, Post-Hardcore, Crunkcore.

That'd be the same as labeling Foo Fighters as pop just because they appear on pop stations. :p.

Anyways, I usually support all genres anyway, and Neil Young just happens to be the bomb.

  • That Martin guitar sounds damn good

  • wow everyones worried about neils looks while a powerfull story unfolds thru his craft. simple bastards...

  • @Tarten46 Note also the ridiculousness, that a commercial for a phone, being merchandized by a commercial glamorizing violence, has been attached to a lament for those killed by violence....

  • Damn. I'm still getting replies on my commenting on his looks months ago.

I happen to think his music was above that. I love Neil Young, even 'favorited' this particular video as it was the first time I heard this song acoustic and live.

I'm in my mid 20s, and I'm disgusted with the music industry as it is.

But I keep it real, at least from my perspective, he looks like a caveman; crucify me already, geesh...

  • In 1971 Nixon left the international Bretton Woods agreements, "...to save the US dollar" he said.

    - It was the same time of the Vietnam protests.

    - It was the same time the banking group Inter Alpha was established.

    - It was the same time where the logaritmic growth of US dollar inflation began.

    - It was the same time where the logaritmic growth of US National debt with the PRIVATE "Federal" Reserve bank began.

Remember 1971, it was where the basis of the current global mess was laid down.

  • @LiteWaiter yep, it's all true there...

  • History repeats when people do not learn.

  • y yo que lo encuentro perfectamente compatible con que te guste Gaga. De hecho a mi Gaga no me va, pero si Duran Duran y Kylie Minogue. Y me he emocionado al escuchar esta canción oiga.

  • Occupy this. The authorities still use force today.

  • it breaks my heart to see theres dislikes and few viewers than there should be i mean liestin to the audience thats the old 1 that clapped at the right didnt boo him liestend to the song and knew what he meant about ohio and respected neil knowing hes just like you and me making music to relate to the public and relax not fame or riches

  • @BaileyDembicki why would you do that? seems like that was a waste of time...

  • This was 40 years ago. Geez, where did the time go.

  • 12 people like Richard Nixon

  • 3 minutes and 39 seconds later I snapped out of a trance

  • @hawkslaxman7 6 seconds later i snapped out of a trance due to loading then went back in

  • @hawkslaxman7 And then listened again! :D

  • Haunting version, very soulful, pure emotion!!!

  • No, baby, they're fans of richard nixon.

  • Some moments in time are simply perfect.

  • @gphx yea like every neil young acoustic performance

  • OCCUPY WALL ST, OCCUPY AMERICA!!!!!

  • just a musically gifted guy playing with everything he has live with his guitar. no autotuned bullshit just straight up music.

  • I was lucky enough to see him at the Landmark theater in Richmond April 2011, thank you Neil.

  • pure talent.

  • Sublime, simply sublime...

  • one of the best songs ever.. so cool thanks for showing

  • perfect drop d tuning

  • They teach this in high school. have they stopped teaching about this in school? It is crazy if they have.

  • I was tryin to graduate from High School on May 4th 1970 when the troops massacred the students. I was trying to get out of the military when Neil Young was singing this song. Thank you Neil Young.

  • Instead of telling the youngsters off? How about just filling in the blanks for them? 4 college students shot & killed, on an Ohio college (Kent State) campus by National Guard troops. The students were UNARMED! Nixin thought he was a King! We don't have Kings in the US of A! The T-Party is LYING TO ALL OF YOU! Turn OFF Fox! Biggest Liars of ALL!!

  • What a great tune .Neil Young has it in spades

  • Whoever says Neil Young sucks is either a fool, or a liar.

  • the 11 who don`t like, are fans of lady gaga

  • @mang1111 Lady Gaga has fans? I just thought the gay dudes that love her music were a sub-human species that the evil corporations bio-engineered to make living on Earth in western societies an unpleasant experience for people with a taste in good music.

  • @doughboycod2 that's correct

  • @mang1111 I don't believe she has more than 10 fans

  • @mang1111 listen, i like gaga and i love neil young you TWIT! small minded lilly pocket with a four strang of beer nuts! maybe the dislikes are just to piss people off cas everyone fights on youtube, yeaaaaah gotta get down to it!

  • @peanutdreams09 you're a poor little boy or girls or sissy or lesbian, alright, is that lady gaga fans not know that are

  • @peanutdreams09 Right on. Also like Gaga and love Neil. Closed minded people really do handicap themselves.

  • @peanutdreams09 I agree.. not a fan of gaga... but i agree

  • @mang1111 this fan categorizing i see on every youtube video needs to stop.

    sincerly

gaga fan and neil young lover

  • @mang1111 hey i like him and i like lady gaga... what does that make me?

  • @mang1111

Perhaps not..I feel that they could best be described as 11 low down-dirty-rotten-belly crawling-dog dick sucking - mother fuckers. That is my diagnosis!

  • @mang1111 now are 13 fans of lady gaga vs 1305 lovers the real music

  • @mang1111 or fascists

  • @mang1111 Please, Lady Gaga loves Neil Young - they're in the same league.

  • @PorroFirst

Pleease just don't mention both of them together.... -__-

If lady gaga loves Neil Young she has certainly still not learned anything from him about writing music. Her lyrics lacks substance as well as the music itself. Sure you can try to bounce at the dancefloor while listening to it. But if her music makes serious impact on someone, that person should not be taken seriously

  • @PorroFirst jajajaja, I guess that Neil Young is proud for it

  • @PorroFirst Wahahahaha funny thing is, the girl has classical schooling so she might very well be in the same league or even a cut above... but you'd never know it from listening to her music, though... sorry but it just sucks. And what's with the freaky outfits?

  • Neil is telling it like it is!! Read James Micheners book if you want to know what really happened. God love you for telling the truth Neil

  • just goes to show you how stupid ppl are these days , they know nothing of what they talk about

  • I truly wish you tube would make most videos comment disabled. For such a beautiful and amazing song and musician many people like to completely bum me out by arguing and talking crap. YOU ARE ALL RUINING YOU TUBE AND P***ING ME OFF!

On the contrary i'm glad to be sharing this clip and the song with the people not being jerks who are here to learn and appreciate.

  • @staturestatue

do you even know what this song is about..?

  • @MrXraybuss College kids got killed at Kent State when Vietnam was going on..

  • @staturestatue You control you.Ignore the idiots. That's the only thing we can do.

  • It is interesting comparing youtube commercials to tv commercials

  • Comment removed

  • i don't find him ugly either....his sole is sexy as hell....one of my heroes!!!!!

  • How do video's of modern music get 200,000,000 views, yet a song like this only gets not even 200,000? Everybody in the world should listen to real music like this. Not generic mass produced crap.

  • @ctownballa69 Being popular does not denote anything other than being popular. It's only one measure of success, and hardly the best measure.

  • @renlds25

Can't one also be popular whilst not being successful? Splitting hairs aren't we?

  • aahhh,, if only I could go back in time,,,I'd have loved to meet Mr. Young, still would love to.....such beauty is overwhelming to me...all of his songs and poetry are magic to me. Love you Niel!<3

  • Neil is so soulful

  • If you dont like a video why would you listen to it just to click dislike drive me nuts if you dont like it dont listen

  • If I love the acoustic¡¡¡..is great Neil Young¡¡

  • @DameunPutazo i dont find him particularly ugly at all

  • @thagangjafarmer323 Yea, even though I'm a guy, I still say he's a weird kind of 'good looking'. In his latter years he's definitely turned into a golem but I think he probably would not have been found unattractive in his younger days.

  • @dannoj98 plus being an unbelievable writer/performer didn't hurt

  • @thagangjafarmer323 Really? I think he has a somewhat Neaderthal-ish thing about his face. He's an amazing performer, he just kind of looks like a caveman.

  • @FreddieTheYeti coming from freedie theYETI lol

  • @thagangjafarmer323 who cares if he's ugly or not. He has a beautiful soul

  • @DameunPutazo Actually, Neil could clean up pretty good looking :) Check out some of the Buffalo Springfield videos. Looking like you hadn't taken a shower or washed your hair in a year was "the look" in 1971.

  • @DameunPutazo In the videos from the early 70's, I find Neil Young very sexy looking. *blush*

  • @Kuroneko822 You can be sexy and ugly. Look at Marylin Manson... why women find that guy sexy is beyond me.

  • im gonna say this straight up neil young best artist ive heard in a long time and all yall that dont like it............. fuck you fuck off idc i love this guy hes great you dont like it fuck off

  • RIP to the 90+ teenagers that were innocently murdered yesterday in Norway.

  • @noahstfuboi What can I add except... retarded.
