Social eating is my arch enemy! It's so hard to be dieting and everyone else isn't and I can't eat all the good stuff they can. It's so hard! Its a kind of balancing act. I'm trying to figure it out though. If I know I'm going to be going out later I try to make sure I have some extra points left (I do WeightWatchers). Or if I have a day that I go farther past my points than I'd like, I just try to make sure I get in a workout that day. Love your vids. I subbed and can't wait to see more :)
Social eating can be a tough spot, but I generally allow myself one cheat meal per week and so if I know I'll be going out I'll just reserve that "cheat" for that event. I generally try to estimate the calories i'm consuming regardless if it's a cheat meal or not just to keep myself accountable, but I find that by allowing myself one high calorie meal per week I can maintain a healthy lifestyle better otherwise.
i have to be honest, and say that my strategy regarding social eating, is that i dont do it.
i know its pisses off my parents, my sisters and everyone else, but i refuse to eat out in a restaurant, full stop. i wont even go to the pub these days. but lets face it, the reason im ill now is because of the pub. ( being irish really is bad for your health )
social eating, like house parties and stuff is hard too. but i try and stick to eating pure meats and chicken if i can when im out.
i just eat a little less the next week when i over eat one day. for me as long as I've lost weight by the end of the week then I'm happy XD
the yogurt and other foods that you have been eating with low calorie counts have me concerned though because things with low calorie counts of that nature are usually made out of chemicals and don't have as much nutrients in them. I'm not saying this is true but it's something to look into.
@WeightLossFTW Not to worry... I am very well versed in nutrition. So much so I could probably be a nutritionist actually. It is something I want to talk about in future videos because I notice a lot of people don't really know a lot about it and it is very important. My calorie counting software also tallies vitamins and minerals so I know I am getting plenty.
@WeightLossFTW sounds like a good plan, and it'll be really help full to. people who are starting out and even people who have been trying to lose weight for a while don't know much about how the nutrients affect the hole thing so that would help them a lot.
omg ur funny. =] n yesss i find social eating verrrry difficult!!!. especially when im with my boyfriend!!. his skinny so he eats everything n then some!!!. n im soooo tempted all the time.. n well im gonna have to be a lot more strict when im around him.. good luck girlie!. :)
the way i do it is i dont cut my calories through my week because then i just binge it up at that meal gaining a lb or two that i worked my butt off to GET off so i keep my normal eating habit then brush up on #calories for some food i think MIGHT be there n then i eat mostly the veggies and fruits with the next biggest portion being the protein and a very small portein of dessert...it works for me -D hope i helped lol
@weightlossfordudes That is good advice. I think that I will still track and save calories whenever possible, but if something comes up unexpectedly sometimes I just won't worry about it. It seems like a healthy mental attitude to take.
My strategy is essentially no strategy. If there is only one major eating out event in a week, I don't worry about it, because I never see that one blip on the scale anyway (might be a fraction of a pound over a week). If you're talking 2 or 3 big meals with people, then you'll have to start being more careful with the food choices at some of those. Most dieters I've known (through WW or here on YouTube) have a day where they eat whatever and don't track. Hope that helps somehow!
I find social eating difficult,as eating out/drinking with friends is my main social activity. When I'm being really good if I'm on a night out in the pubs I prepare some wedges/homemade pizza to have went I get home instead of going to the takeaway. If I go for a meal out I tend to stick with steak and jacket potato and drink diet soda. In the past I've had a larger meal for my lunch and then had a salad and a starter at the restaurant as a main. I also save syns from allowance.

@Flab2Fab82 The steak is a good idea... I love it, and it does seem to be lower calorie than some other restaurant fare doesn't it??
