These guys are awesome , today it is only music made on VirtualDJ by someone with talent and people call it very good,at that time , to be good , you had to play more than 1 instrument at the time and still making some whoopy noises..
I did some research & looked up some info: "Before The Buggles "Video Killed The Radio Star" became the first video aired on MTV in 1981, Bruce Woolley and the Camera Club recorded and released the song on the only album released by the band in 1979. The song was written by Woolley along with Trevor Horn and Geoffrey Downes who went on to form the Buggles".
The original title of this song is 'WWIII/Clean Clean'.
so, the buggles played it better... that why =they are famous, who cares about that band, if thats true, I really can't be bothered to research it and prove you wrong...
he is playing an aria sb 1000 bass, its the same bass that was used by haircutt 100 and also john taylor from 1980 to 1985...in 2 weeks ill have one after wanting one for 27 years...that bass is no typical bass he is playing..they are very rare no a days and alot of money...they have this tone and sound from them ive never heard from any other bass so im VERY excited to be getting one..albeit used but in excellant condition...beggers cant be choosers i guess:)
que bueno que han empezado a aparecer los videos de esta fantástica ( y fugaz) banda que en el 80 (junto con yes y el LP drama) marcaron historia. Gracias por este video fantástico¡
There was a music video for this. It was the one where they performed the song at "Aplauso". They put playback on the Live video and made it into the Music Video. It used to be here, but got deleted.
video and soundtrack out of sync, sound ahead the video. But fantastic 80's pop. I really hope they play this as soundtrack to the new "Ashes to Ashes" TV show.
The Buggles are the best '80s band ever! Thanks for uploading this, this seems more like a Music Video than a Live performance cuz you see it in a Video Game.
It went to about No. 38 in the UK charts if my memory serves me correctly.

This gives 80's music a bad name. I loathed it then and my feelings are unchanged now!

Homoholic is right, I know the original !! But I like the Buggles version better !!
@Homoholic: Stay cool ;)

The original version of this song is currently on YouTube. Just type in 'Bruce Woolley Camera Club'.
Unfortunately, it's a live version which is not as good as the single version.
Thomas Dolby played keyboards in the band before going solo.
Can't wait to check out the original version of 'Video Killed The Radio Star'.

This is an okay cover version - the original is better in my opinion. Does anyone know who the original artist is?

OTownNewl - you CAN'T prove me wrong!
You haven't heard the original Camera Club studio single but for some strange reason you seem to think The Buggles "played it better".
Next time you post a comment, make sure you actually know what you're talking about, ok?

Great to see it.. Thx

In 1979, Trevor Horn, did play the bass, but with no intetion to sing too!
Was Downes that ask him/Horn to did try on on the vocal!
They had hopes to call/invite, a new guitarman arrived in London ..a south-african, to did join on the Buggles ...
Your name was Trevor Rabin!!!
And he must been the guitar and voice for the Buggles!

I could be mistaken but i seem to remember a war themed video for this song, perhaps Trevor Horn can she some light on this.
