Just because military technology "advanced" to make guns the main weapons of war, doesn't mean they aren't for wimps. A gun takes no skill to kill. You simply aim and shoot, from a distance. To put it into perspective, if your target doesn't also have a gun, they're likely not going to be able to retaliate.
However, face to face combat is a different story. It requires you to be more skilled than your opponent, not a better shot. Basically, attacking from far away = cowardly.
You may call it what you want, but when you are attacked and you defend yourself with a firearm, you are left standing, unharmed while your assailant is in the ER.
