Very informative video! Thanks for not over complicating things. People need to quit all the negatives. This video is simple and informative...just the way it should be.
I'm looking forward to buy this unit. But I've a question, Is it possible to record 4 simultaneous tracks using this unit while monitoring @ zero latency?
I've heard that the pre amps on this aren't very good, so it would be ok for condense mics but if I was recording using a dynamic mic, it would be fairly quiet and I would need an additional mic pre. Is this true? Thanks.
I think it works pretty good. Got it with some Condensers, but also a Shure 57, and they both sound good. I have to scale up the gain on the 57 though ;) but thats just because its a pretty focused mic, I have to put it REALLY close to the mic, but the levels come out okay.
so what software does the firebox come with???!! i looked at the guitar center website, which i'm purchasing this from and it says it comes bundled with studio one pro, but presonus says it comes with cubase
I am getting A Lot of WHITE NOISE when i am recording guitar. It sounds good in my headphones. But when i export it to itunes it has a lot of white noise. Does anyone know how i get rid of this shit. I've messed with the instrument 2 knob and the main levels knob many times.
the funny thing is i had it on the right settings before but somehow i can't find it again. and it really sounded great!..
get the presonus audio box usb same amount of channels 2 balanced xlr or 1/4 inch both with fantom power. seperate volumes for both channels and a switch between ur playback and whats coming into the interface. quite a bit cheaper 2.
oh and their might be a usb-firewire converter, try like future shop or circut city. hope that helped :)
Curly434 said "im sorry but cubase sucks ass, seriously, logic is so much better. "
I don't own Cubase, one of the top packages for home recording, but looking at Curly434's videos, his sound is complete crap. I guess he thinks mac only Logic is a big step up from Garage band. Judging by his dead sound, he is completely clueless. He's also a tween who, transparently, does not have the money to even buy different software packages. He's at the mercy of what daddy will buy him.
firstly, 'my sound' most probably is crap if you're going on the few videos i have on youtube, as they were recorded using a camer phone a couple of years ago. Im doing a music tech degree, so in fact i do have some idea what im talking about. i use a macbook pro at home and iMac's at uni, both with logic express 8. I have used cubase before on pc's and found it to be unsatisfying, not bad, but nowhere near as good as rivals. that is all asshole.
So it's "not bad" now-- before you said it "sucks ass"??!!! Perhaps you should think about what you write before you write it?? Indeed, that you just, in essence, admitted that you don't, means that you are the "asshole." The people who think about what they say before they say it are credible. The others are not. Simple as that.
I bought a firebox and cant get any sound out of it apart from ports 5 and 6! No sound will record through it either, I've installed all the drivers, disabled my old soundcard etc... Still nothing. Plug in and play my arse! Anyone got any ideas? Short of taking it to a computer specialist (which will cost me more money) I dunno what to do...
Have you installed the firebox mixer software? If not, you should, In there is the option to set which in's / outs the box uses.
In terms of plug and play, I just hooked it up to the my MAC and installed the software (Cusbase) and it worked first time. Check out the mixer software thou.
I notice he's using cubase LE 4 here, it just says cubase LE (on the product description), anyone know which version it actually is - that comes with the firebox? Would anyone recommend the firebox for professional recording - if you only need to record ONE instrument at a time?
umm the BOX is the little version of fp10. You could use this for recording maybe acoustic guitar and vocals at once or 2 overheads for drums and such!
Great job, Chris! Pretty straightforward. Now, is Firebox the same as Audiobox? I'm indecisive about which one to buy now. Please help! Thanks, Luciano.
Cool--covered a lot in 9 minutes & did it clearly & easy to understand--I have a firebox on the way so this is very helpful :-)I'll be sure to browse for more informative vids on youtube in the future--what a great resource!!
