  • Vince was a poofter?

  • notwithstanding Kirk Douglas' wonderful performance. Anthony Quinn's presence really sparks the movie!

  • Thanks I enjoyed this movie recently and while I am usually reserved in my opinion of the "arts" I have grown fond of this character. I spend quite a bit of time in a Postictal recovery and watched this while in a complete aura. I am also an alcoholic, addict, adhd, type person with a seizure disorder who never quite found his way although mastering many, many things, lol My connection may be more than subtle Huh? His issues may have been deeper but I "see' how the synaesthesia was a role .Rick

  • Antonio Rodolfo Quinn Oaxaca "Anthony Quinn " Born in Chihuahua Mexico during the Mexican Revolution ,His Mother Manuela "Nellie" Oaxaca was of AZTEC ancestry ,His Father Francisco Quinn of Irish -Mexican ancestry Born in Mexico ;rode with Pancho Villa .. Viva Anthony Quinn !!

  • my acting style is like Anthony Quinn, animal instinct... robust physical energy...

  • Mr. Douglas and Mr. Quinn are icons! Present actors doesn't have an inch of talent compared to them! Kudos to the guy who uploaded this vid, Lust for life is the best book i've ever read!

  • 7:04 - You paint too fast - you look too fast! Hit's me as hard as they both say it.

  • Gauguin was a fine painter - BUT van Gogh was far better --

  • Que tesouro!!! AMEI!

  • Adoro este filme. tem como enviar-me na íntegra? Vou amar você e o filme!!!

  • You paint too fast! You look too fast!

  • the scene when van gogh cuts his own ear thriller me. great mr. douglas

  • These two are the best of the best!!

  • Kirk is so manic in this it gives me a smile.

  • lol They made Gauguin such a prick in this film.

  • @Keiichichanisback

Well Van Gogh was difficult to live with. Its not easy living with someone with mental health issues.

  • one of Kirk best role...

  • y un dia de los fontaneros y otro de los sastres y otro de los bomberos y asi todo el año de fiestas no te jode

  • Mejor que estar todo el año explotado... ya trabajaremos cuando estemos muertos..no tengamos tan prisa!!!!!

  • Uhh...why do they have American accents? Hollywood was lazy in the 50s.

  • they could have gotten french actors... oh wait- there are no french actors as masterful as mr. quinn and mr. douglas

  • Yeah...but not masterful enough to fake an accent right?

  • Yeah great actors also great was Burt Lancaster

  • @bradleyshepard that´s not true

  • Daniel Auteuil (in the Manon des sources) could portray Vincent VG

  • @bradleyshepard then you obviously don't know any french actors

  • @JobberBud Well in Van Gogh (1991) the guy playing Vincent has a French Accent

  • the part where Vincent shouts "Paul!" and embraces Gauguin is very moving...

  • Is that Gauguin visiting van Gogh?

  • this is SO BRILLIANT!! Gauguin was such a jerk to Van Gogh!

i love their argument about Millet and Degas; that's so awesome!

  • OH SHUT UP!

  • Very Hollywood.

  • I understand that John Wayne didnt like Douglas playing Van Gogh. He felt that macho actors should play macho characters.

Thank God Kirk didnt pay attention to that. This is my favorite movie of all time.

  • tom cruise and brad pitt must weep impotently when they see acting like this

  • I wonder if Vincent and Gauguin played hide-the-sausage...

  • Ottimo film...e grande interpretazione di Kirk Douglas.

  • I saw this picture many years ago - thank you - Brilliant Post -

  • I didn't realise that Van Gogh actually hung athena posters of his work for gauguin in the spare bedroom

  • Very well chosen segment of the movie in order to capture the overall content. This is one of my top 5 favorite movies. Kirk Douglas IS Van Gogh!

  • Yeah, have you heard the news? He cut is ear yesterday night

  • his* ear

  • A great film and marvellous performances from both Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn, the best ever portrayals of both artists.

  • I have this movie Myself and rmeember it from childhood, staying up late to watch it.

I wasn't like most children,I drank in all the heady stuff and this film was just WOW MAGIC.

Truly one of Douglas and Quinn's best films and dedicated to My favorite painter (Vincent Van Gogh).

  • hahahh I finally Found This Movie For only two dollars it's a Masterpiece.

  • POST THE REST PLEASE.

  • I learnt that Kirk Douglas won a Golden Globe for this role but not the Oscar...

I wonder why??? Who won the Oscar that year for Best Actor in Leading Role?

  • I think it was Yul Brynner for 'The King and I'.

  • I love this movie, and vincent is my favorite painter. I think that Kirk could interpret very well the personality of van gogh and his passion/obsession for painting =)

  • imagine that passion if he was a musician

  • Always thought that the same!;)

  • he'd be Kurt Cobain

  • @zincpa68 if he were looking for a cure for any number of things.

  • @zincpa68 no comment

  • @zincpa68 - that's probably what Jim Morrison would have been like if the record companies in the 1960s did business like the way they do it now.

  • I love this movie and the book. One of the most beautiful movies I ever seen.

  • Buenisimo!!

  • Thank u very much!

  • Thank you to share this video extract with us. I like much the extract that you chose when Van Gogh receives with enthusiasm his friend Gauguin. This scene shows us a Van Gogh disordered and Gauguin a little meticulous. One of the most beautiful biography on the life of this artist magnificiently interpreted by Anthony Quinn and Kirk Douglas. It is pleasant to re-examine this movie.

    Thanks again,

    See you soon,

    Your friend,

  • Anthony Quinn's performance equals the one by Montgomery Clift in Judgment At Nuremberg, both very short but compeling nevertheless.

  • A great cast from a great movie. Thanks for posting, RAR!
