I usually make fun of movies about dead dogs because they just come off as cheap drama and Oscar bait, but this one really grew on me. And William Ross is surely one of the most underrated film composers working today.

This song makes me cry every time I listen to it, regardless of what mood I'm in. My dog was hit by a car last year and killed. We only had her for six years, and a few months before her birthday, she ran out in front of a car that was already speeding. She was hit once in the head, but the force of the blow caused her to die within minutes. My friend witnessed it, and he said that during the last seconds of her life, her tail was wagging, then she slowly slipped away. RIP Daisy Angel <3

@eeveelutions133 So sorry, mate; it OK to be sad. My dad's dog died after being hit by a bus when he was a kid; he's now 55 and he still sounds devastated every time the subject comes up. Don't hesitate about being sad; our emotions are one of the things which makes us human.

The music plays a significant role in the emotional theme of this film, I think.

The aptitude of Ross's score plays right into the hearts and minds of the viewers. Frankly - His obscurity is completely bewildering. He should be a household name.

Another fabulous William Ross score probably one of the most un-recognized composers of our time. He should have got an award for this theme but of course he didn't. I have seen the movie so many times that I can't watch it anymore, just hearing this theme brings back all the details of the book and the movie. In the Willie Morris book, he doesn't mistreat Skip the way they showed in the movie. Poetic license I guess. I can't even listen anymore without tearing up. Only shows how powerful it is.

This music score is a masterpiece. I heard someone remark that film music is the 'new' classical. As we mourn the quality of modern pop, it is a comfort that so many film composers like William Ross offer us this music which cradles our souls.
