  • This is one of those songs that you hear in a great pair of headphones and are blown away at all the sounds voices that were put in this song on different levels.

  • Still sounds good, and what a video! Timeless

  • Summer of 1985! Great summer!

  • Bill Bailey appears at 3:37

  • Man, those guys were really pushing pop music further with their experimental edge. Just like Talk Talk, except Godley & Creme (with 10CC) were WAY ahead of their time. "I'm Not In Love" sounds, looking back, like it would have been recorded in the early 80s, with like a Fairlight or Synclavier sampler. But they did it all with tape, in 1975.

Shouts to Trevor Horn on this record! He was hot when he was hot! (his production I mean, not HIM)

  • At 1:47 its Sonia Jackson from East Enders.

  • still makes me think of MIAMI VICE

  • the high pitch voice at the end is probably lol creme

  • You want a better version of this song? Let me introduce Tim Knol to you. Look it up: Tim Knol - Cry (Godley & Creme).

    Awesome cover.

  • No reason for that language...

  • I would not like to make acquaintances with your cock. Perhaps a female genital spot. Preferably a young female. Thank thee. *hops into sunset*

  • tune

  • saw one of the guys in the met bar london years ago,,wish i went over and said how much i liked this song.. my only night in there,,so many famous people in onep lace

  • is that Mr T at 0:45???

  • yes it's Trevor Horn

  • One of the most brilliant music videos I've ever seen... Michael Jackson ripped this on off with "Black Or White". Good in its own ground-breaking way, but "Cry" beat him to it with the effective morph effect.

  • Is it Trevor Horn the guy with glasses at the end of the vid?

  • Uh.... it is a guy.

  • she sounds like a man

  • ya gta 4

  • ads at the begining of videos MAKE ME WANT TO CRRRYYY

  • I bet Lloyd Dobbler would approve of this song.

  • Have always loved this track. Although it may seem silly now, the video was received as somewhat cutting edge at the time of its release, in 1985.

  • epic (:-(

  • you make my wanne dry CRY

  • Temazo (y videazo!)

    Thnx to post this vid

  • Where did 1985 go? It was just yesterday.

  • that video was scare me... but i love the song

  • i love the vid.....reminds of my youth

  • love it

  • Thanks so much for this :)

  • Love it, thanks for posting. xoxoxo

  • Love this song, and still think the video is great all these years later :)

  • 1986

  • According to my fat, dole scum, spastic cunt brother....ed balls and gordon brown were in the origional line up for godley and creme, he reckonz ed pulled out to concentrate on the booty luv project, which i suppose one could argue has proved to be a shrewd move.

  • "According to my fat, dole scum, spastic cunt brother"

    LOLOLOLOL

  • Beautiful, makes me want to cry. Ah, memories...

  • Essential 80's song. It appears in an episode from the 2nd season of the mighty tv show "Miami Vice"!!!

  • GTA IV !

  • Yea GTA IV

  • Great video, over 20 years old and still a classic!!.

Very impressive for the technology available at the time, using simple wipe transitions.

It proves that you don't need lots of technology, to make a good music video.

    5 STARS *****

  • cheer up ? the song is called cry!

  • Zebonka,

Ahhh to be young again, you'll understand someday. Sad-sacks not really, just wish we could do it again. Those were good times.

  • Gosh; at 3:05 does that not look a bit like Aaron Eckhart? Looking at his bio I think it's unlikely, but it is uncanny

  • This is one of the best videos ever.

  • Michael Jackson ripped these guys off with his "Black & White" video six years later (1991).

  • not really. this is just some lousy picture overlaying. in that mj video, the technology was called morphing.

  • Is that Bruce Grobbelar at 2.49?

  • goog call like your thinking!

  • Mr T!

  • love this video! i was trying to remember something and it came to my head, i was so happy when i found it.

  • would you eat the leader singers ass out?

  • umm no thank you.

  • whose ass would you eat out? Kevin Jonas?

  • Not a big fan of the Jonas Brothers.

  • whose ass would you eat out then?

  • No body. Sorry.

  • what about pee pee's? whose pee pee would you kiss?

  • you're one sick fuck. goodbye.

  • you're a phony for saying you don't like pee pee

  • do you have a life for real. please leave me alone.

  • your a big fat phony. How can you be so fake? you act like your farts don't smell like dead rats, well they do. Go to hell, bye

  • beautiful song amazing video.could someone please tell me is that Wuhrer(the bar man) from Star Wars Episode 4 A New Hope at 2.35?

  • A great song and a terrific video

  • 1Bone7 very true words indeed if only life was so simple nowadays

  • screw your commercials

  • Love the song, it takes me back to a time when life was just....so damn easy, yes, I'm a child of the seventies but this 80's tune that hits me where it counts.

  • yeh classic........shudda backed this tune to crimewatch on photo fit section

  • It's so amazing how accepting we were of dissolves. This was the precursor to morphing. The video still totally holds up. Today we expect flawless transitions when viewing special effects. WOW!

  • Good, memorable video, not flashy, but smart. Its Mr.T !

  • I don't know about you lot but everytime I watch this video, I always wonder how many of these people are still alive..?

I wonder who knows who all these people are..?

I think it would make a good TV show trying to trace all these characters and how they ended up on the video...

    ?

  • I think you watch too much T.V

  • one of them ended up in Eastenders

  • 1:00 now thats just wrong.....

  • thats great this song was played on maimi vice, I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG, its on gta4 ,but it makes me think of vice city

  • i love this song<3

LOL everytime i see this video Godley reminds me of Seth Green in the face

  • Some of these peeps are real scarey!!!! Great tune though and Trevor Horn is a genius! He was Grace Jones' producer too!!

  • back in the day when music video was somewhat of an art form. It's sad to think of what Mtv has become. Mindless childlish drivel with hardly a video to be found.

  • You are exactly right. I never bother watching it now. It means nothing to me anyways, most music of today. Good comment btw.

  • Trevor horn was also a part of "The art of noise" wasn't he?

  • I think so. I really respect him, well, apart from when he was with the Buggles!!! Just joking! Even the Buggles were better than most of what's around now!!

  • He produced the Art of Noise. He was part of the Buggles.

  • Producer Trevor Horn says it all , brilliant !!

  • Reminds me of my Miami Vice everytime.

  • Me too, how right you are my friend

    COOL =)

  • What the.....This is a piece of music history.....but I did see mr T...

  • dat aynt mr T, this guy looks less evil lol

  • Thank you very very much for posting this! I never forgot this song.

  • LOL...there is no Rock Hudson, or Mr. T, or Blondie in the video.

  • And... ?

  • you will see Rock Hudson, as one of the many faces...end stage of the virus that took his life, look carefully

  • this song is cool i like it,.......

  • you dont know how to ease my paaaain...

  • I frickin love this song

  • life is not fair

  • Bellissimo!

  • one of the best videos ever!just look at the year it was recorded.many others tried to copy this idea, incl mr.michael jackson

  • 1:13 Eddie Rabbit .

  • why a godley look a like chuck norris

  • Great song, great voice, great video!

  • great video and good song of my past years , 80's

  • 0:47

It's Mr. T ! No but seriously, a beautiful song I discovered thanks to GTA IV. Good stuff.

  • This song used awesomely in Miami Vice episode...

  • best song in miami vice for story line.

  • yes sir, thank you-I believe it was "Evan" wasnt it?

  • what a magnificent vid!

  • Grand thef Auto IV wooooooot :D for pc of course :P

  • is a guy or girl singing this song?

  • errr, guy i think :D

  • Just realised that the last but one face is that of Trevor Horn

  • Guess it makes you wanna CRY?

  • Not the Spikey Headed Gimp, the one before him

  • For some reason, out of all those faces...

Only the guy at 2:04 manages to Match the Voice to the Face XD

I mean i can just imagine him singing this song...

  • This was state of the art back in 85.

  • 3:36 hitler thing going on

  • Love it, love it, love it! One of my absolute TOP 80's songs.

  • About the first man, Is he the brother of Susan Boyle?

  • BRILLIANT!

  • Why didn't GTA 4 have more 80's hits such as this

  • I agree. For the most part I don't like the GTA 4 music... but this song is awesome.

  • Liberty Rock is the only station with good music.

  • Because it was set in 2008 lol

  • How about some volume......

  • haha! pause it at 2:39

  • haha, "I gotta go to see the wizard, i need me some courage!"

  • Wow! Emotions... memories... emotional memories, memorable emotions. You get the point, if you're old like me : ) Cool tune... !

  • most relaxing song ever

  • Awesome tune, I loved it on Miami Vice..

  • the scariest changes are from 2:28 - 2:48 all in a row D:!

  • This video isn't in stereo, but it's still great!

  • BEST 10cc ever!

  • its not 10cc. more like 5cc.

  • Well, Godley and Creme did pretty much their best song :)

  • one of the best videos from the heydays of mtv. damn good song too.

  • true lovely classic !!!!!!!

hard to believe its been so long since it came out !!!!!!

  • crazy Ted, Crockette, the babe on the beach...Miami Vice...need I say more?

  • Is that Mr. T. @ 0:47?

    Amazing song and video.

Gotta love Godley & Creme! :)

  • This really brings back memories! I was about 10 or 11 when this came out, and I remember watching it on MTV!:)

  • Ground breaking video!!

I remember this from the 'real' MTV (1985)

    Brings back memories!

    *****

    64m >:-)

  • Yes, this is six or seven years earlier than Michael Jackson and John Landis' Black or white.

This was the real revolutionary video.

if B&W has got more technique, Cry had the concept first.

How sad Godley and Creme are still so ignored

  • that one guy looks like Michael Stipe

  • Most of the people in this video look familiar..., hmmm.

  • Very well written song, the lyrics tell an interesting story. You cheat, you lie, you dont even know how to say goodbye, you make me want to cry. Great post, thanks!

  • One of the most stunning videos and pop records...ever.

  • r.e.m. is on here.

  • OMG i cant believe i found this vid.

  • I love the addition of Trevor Horn (the producer of the record) at the end of the video. Very unique concept for a video using now-primitive technology.

  • gta 4 <3

  • I completely forgot about this song...thanks for sharing it

  • Damn! and I thought Black or White video was revolutionary

  • this is pretty amazing thank you vtr video reel to reel.

  • Still is - I mean, this is basically a series of crossfades. Black or White revolutionized the use of CGI in music videos; no one turns their head and sprouts a ponytail in this one, do they? :-P

  • No, that is a fake Blondie, and Mr.T, but the video was ground-breaking, and the song is Fantastic! The video is peppered with images of the band and their friends. It is awesome for having that very primitive echoplex looping and distinctively 1970s strat sound akin to Chris Bell.

  • I think the addition of the person at 2:35 was a crucial one and makes quite the statement.

  • i know a kid that was in this let me find him.

  • Watch this on Miami Vice!

  • I had never heard of this song until watching the episode with Ted Nugent (Defintely Miami) in season 2.

  • wow i remember being haunted by this song when i was a kid...great stuff..the guitar work is nice..it sounds like early post zeppelin robert plant..wouldnt doubt if he's an influence..good stuff

  • I thought the same thing. i also lumped in Sunset Grill by Henly.

  • It's so good when they start getting onto that "You don't even know how to say goodbye" stuff..

  • Debbie Harry at 1:01?

  • I think the person at 0:40 is either Robert De Niro or Terry Jones.

  • Is that 2nd to last guy the Buggles/ Video Killed the RadioStar guy?

  • Yes. Trevor Horn. I believed he produced this song.

  • I thought so. thanks.

  • Trevor Horn is the last guy in the video.

  • 2:18-2:49 is in the gta4 pc commercial

  • :51 JIMMY PEGARINO!

  • 3:22 - 3:41 Best

  • Look a bit after 2:43

The little girl the morph goes into.

She could SO be a perfect Alice for "Alice in Wonderland"!

  • 0:15 SUSAN BOYLE~~

  • d9s video is fukin trippy shit

  • you dont know how to ease my pain

  • Hmm.. Michael Jackson's Black or White 6 years later.

  • Not sure but I heard G&C at least had elements of 10cc among them. Whatever I was glad to find the MP3 and find the vid here.
