  • "Also known (in horrifically butchered form) as Arabian Knight and The Princess and the Cobbler."

I think I actually saw The Princess and the Cobbler.

  • So...what would it take, to do something like this, 'today'?

  • Whoa, what technology did they use on THIS?!

  • @outlawstarr417 they drew it. every single freaking picture that forms this scene. it took some 20+ years to draw the whole movie (most of it, until they decided to drop it and animate it the crappy way, leading it to be named a copy of Disney's Aladin, which is actually a copy of this movie.).

  • @outlawstarr417 The drew it, but with twice the frames they usually used in those days.

  • You know what that army needs? More spikes.

  • GOD, the animation is just amazing and I... I think I'm going to cry

  • Thank you, Cracked, for shining some new light on this AMAZING work of art. Now let's all pay tribute to Richard Williams by sharing this for other people to see.

  • it has such a weird look and feel O_o

  • I feel so damn sorry for the guy who made this.

  • the engineer that designed that thing? im guessing he was fired.

  • Seriously I'm blown away by that horses scream! Watch the movie orca it's the same scream. I wonder which movie used it first?

  • Why in the hell did the horse scream like the killer whale in the movie orca? This is awesome, but what the fuck was up with that scream?

  • An army of Emperor Zurgs.

  • thank you cracked

  • I love those guys just jumping up and down intimidatingly and in perfect sync on the metal thing.

  • reminds me a lot of the wall , this really is a masterpiece .

  • This scene alone is a masterpiece

  • Best part is 0:00 to 8:29

  • dear god.

my mom used to rent this for me all the time,

    and i'm finally remembering it.

    thank the lord i do.

  • That thief has the best damn luck I have ever seen x.x

  • Wow the quality of this clip is all over the place

  • Jesus Christ, even Freddy Jones never had a trap this unnecessarily complicated and easily fallible!

  • Oh my God.... this is "WTF?", distilled and put into animation. This is a bigger trip than LSD, and makes Pink Floyd's The Wall look utterly conventional.

I don't know if this is genius or horrid, but it's something that can legitimately called both, neither, and said that it doesn't matter.

  • What the fuck did I just watch?

  • Holy. Shitballs.

  • ...My head is full of what.

  • My thoughts from 3:45 on: "This just seems like phenomenally bad planning."

  • Stunning art.Masterpiece of hand-drawn animation. A shame it wasn't finished the way it was supposed to and outshone Alladin.

  • holy shit I did see this as a little kid!!! this is the reason I carry nails in my mouth, no lie!

  • The Thief is pretty inept he should have fenced the stuff he stole ages ago, he just shows up and basically bams everything up for everyone else,

  • can't help but quote Urkel: "did i do thaaat? HAHAHA *snork snork* HAHAHA"

  • Now THIS is a time to actually use the word "Epic."

  • Idk... this is decent and all but the animation for Beavis and Butthead is still the gold standard in my book.

  • she's all Tack please no! and he's all here have a mouse

  • This movie is like the Beach Boys' SMiLE; it was too awesome to exist

  • Does anyone know the music that they march to? I would like to know, please.

  • Why does this video have 400'000 more views than the rest?

  • @JamesBrookeExplorer mentioned in a popular cracked article

  • @JamesBrookeExplorer Probably because the scenes with the evil one eye army are so cool and scary looking and also probably because of the awesome music and animation.

  • @JamesBrookeExplorer Cracked. They linked the vid to their article one time.

  • "Help me! Help me to help her!"

I feel so bad for the king.

  • if this was lost, couldn't they just bring it up again? I love this, but when I searched through youtube, there are so many friggin' versions!!! I don't know which one is the original or the actual one. i need help.....

  • @TheQueenOfALLMusic This version is the attempt to get back to creator's original version.

  • @NeverDoubt1 oh ok thanks!! :)

  • @TheQueenOfALLMusic No problem. :)

  • There's a point in a man's life when he says "There is not enough spikes".

  • Pitagoras suichi stuff is boring, no matter how much time or frames you invested on it.

  • That horse reminds me of the one in the Guernica painting.

  • They had to draw that stuff by hand. Truly spectacular. This is why I love watching older animated movies.

  • King: HELP ME! HELP ME TO HELP HER!

Kid He's Yelling At: Well what do you want from me?? I'm five!

  • WTF DID I JUST WATCH?

  • i keep hearing the airstrike sound from half life one

  • THis looks Incredible. breath taking. where is this from?

  • the war machine is like a giant game of mouse trap:) i love this movie

  • that is some INSANE animation, holy god. It is so amazing.

  • ALL HAND DRAWN?!??!?! HOLY BALLS!

  • This is better animated than the generic shit we have today.

  • Cracked

  • I can't believe this wasn't CGI

  • Incredible. I feel bad that this movie never became famous.

  • And now I've seen the video that inspired everything in Samurai Jack.

  • The Rube Goldberg formation is clearly the worst formation to march an army in.

  • @arch3223 Depends on your point of view...

  • Thief, at 5:05, "Fuck ALL the things, I need those balls!"

  • Man from 2:53-4:35, it's like one big deadly game of mouse trap! XD

  • That's scary as fuck.

  • Holy. SHIT.

I think I have been reborn.

  • FUCK ALADDIN

  • thanks a lot for buried this into oblivion

    fucking disney -.-

  • If ever I ever win the millon on lottery, mark my words, I will pay people to see that this film is made the way it's was supposed to be. I'll take the the Recobbled Cut and make sure that it's finished the way it was supposed to be with the highest of quality. This movie is a masterpiece, and it derserve to be finished. :')

  • 1,000,000 internets to anyone who can find somewhere that I can download this music from.

  • @NICEfilms1000 I looked into this, and apparently it's on the original workprint. So yet another thing to add to the list of things screwed over when this movie was shit-canned. :(

  • Oh, Disney, you sad shit of an animating tyrant you...

  • Judging from the high amount of pointy and sharp objects the bad guys have, I do believe they are their objective is to kill.

  • From 3:00 onward: The world's absolute deadliest Rube-Goldberg machine.

  • how come some parts still look like they didn't make it past storyboarding? I hope it didn't look like that in the finished cut

  • @GoatOfGandhi Because the storyboard scenes are the ones that were cut from the original film to make it more marketable. This version was never released in theaters or on video, so fans got the storyboards and pasted Richard Williams' original intent together, which is this Recobbled Cut. This is as close to the original film as we're ever going to see

  • @torichio that's a shame. Thanks for informing me, happy hollidays

  • @GoatOfGandhi Because Richard Williams didn't finish the film past deadline, so Warner Brothers rejected him. So Miramax, along with Fred Calvert, decided to edit the film without Richard Williams, thus making Williams' masterpiece into something horrid.

Luckily, fans of Williams' work had decided to restore the film to its original intention, using only the Highest Quality animations they can find (Including Story-boarding, Line Animation, Low Quality, etc.), thus producing this!

  • Its amazing what a simple tack can do

  • What a amazing animation, damn, I really wanted this movie to be a huge success, too bad executive meddling and lots of other problems hold the movie for 30 freakin' years, also, I happy they did this "how it should have been" version, it's really nice, and heck I'll show this to my kids (if I ever have one in the future :P), because beautiful animations must be watched by everyone!

  • That sumbitch got lucky, huh?

  • i can never get enough of old skool cartoon physics like 6:00

  • Cracked?

  • Cracked.

  • WHoa.

  • Why is tack so tan now?

  • Natural 20...

  • Holy shit balls...

  • I really think this was made so he could trip balls while watching it.

  • I love when Tack hands Yum Yum the mouse. His expression practically screams: "Hold this for just a second, sweetie. I have to go kick some ass."

  • The thief is so entertaining XD so silly

  • There's going to be a LOT of scrap metal left after this scene...

  • Why the hell are we still paying disney?!

  • Agents of chaos those boys...

  • evil emperor zuge was inspired by the one eyed king

  • The artist really seemed to get his POINT across with that fluid animation, am I right?

  • Wow, 30 years! They really put so much effort into this film. O_o

  • Needs more spikes

  • This looks way fucking better than Aladdin.

  • starting at 1:10 I thought it was a clip of the movie made in the 2000s! The movement is so fluid!

  • And still,

no one knows the source of the music

  • Best. Chain. Reaction. Ever.

  • What does the bombing of the World Trade Center have to do with-- Oh, never mind.

  • @SunWukong54

    Unfunny

  • @OfLanceTheLonginus

Your response, on the other hand, was quite humorous. Especially seeing it in my inbox, since your "I am not amused"-face avatar was right next to it.

  • @SunWukong54

I aim to please good sir.

  • Murphy's Law to the max.

  • Listen to Kelis-Milkshake while watching this.Awesome

  • ... But could we have more spikes?

  • i wonder if some animes were inspired by this... some stuff looks familiar.

  • @colt45joe most likely

  • I like how I got a free copy of this movie in a box of cereal.

  • Sicc

  • 3:00 onwards: "Physics Says No"

  • @omn1dex

Bet you just hated Portal, didn't you?

  • @afivey well portal didnt defy physics, it just introduced physics not yet explained. btw i liked portal, Portal 2 was funny, Cave Johnson was hysterical

  • what song is used for the march? I can't tell what it is.

  • i don't care that it's 85% complete. I want to see it on Blu-ray!!

  • this film could have single handedly brought back the animation industry from its dark ages, given Disney a clear punch in the nose, and cemented animation's place in the industry as an admirable and legitimate medium of top notch storytelling. What could have been...

  • @onehundred10million what do you mean? it didn't do that. It could have? It didn't. I suppose you can say Cars 2 could've done that also.

  • @coltranesteelkirt A film like this released in 1993 couldn't do much, for Don Bluth and Disney had already done most of the necessary work anyway. But imagine a film like this released in 1972. Back when Animation needed a real kick starter to bring it back from its dark ages, when people wanted to see epic movies, and so forth. 1972, when Disney was without Walt Disney and releasing nothing more than sub par animated films.

  • @onehundred10million Why didn't it?

I know the thing must have come out because I remember somehow seeing this movie as a little kid in someone's house...

  • @tehUBERn00blet It came out back in around 1992-1994. By then people had already seen Secret of Nimh, Little Mermaid, Land Before Time, and worst of all, Aladdin. If this film had gotten released by 1974, when it should have, people would have been blown away. But it was released 20 years too late. It;s like releasing the original King Kong, as we know it, by the year 1963, instead of 1938 or so where it should have been. Understand? It came out too late, and when it did, it was old hat.

  • @onehundred10million I found out more about this film after I replied to your comment, and also found out how brutally reduced the film had become. Hence the need for this "recobbled" version. Perhaps it wouldn't have suffered so bad if it at least maintained it's originally intended artistic integrity :(

  • I feel bad that they put so much time and effort into this movie and it fell to the wayside. Probably, if it was finished full budget and uncut, it would have been much better.

  • Lucky shot....

  • um, this may have just been me, but did anyone else go "GAH!!!" at 2:41?

  • @lesainteamy that was me at 2:57

  • So basically the Thief is a demigod and epic level rogue.

    Pretty good representation.

  • the robots remind me of casshern film

  • Oh my goodness...this is some of the best, most awesomest animation I've ever seen...and it's all hand-drawn... I would freakin' LOVE to see this movie fully finished as it was intended to be.

  • And THAT, my friends, is what you'd call the Butterfly Effect!

  • Who doesn't love a rube goldberg machine of death?

  • This sequence is like what Buster Keaton would have done had he been able to turn off gravity

  • I actually saw this when I was a kid. I remember nothing of when or why I saw it, but it must have been my dad who took me. I had myself pretty much convinced it was either a false memory or a memory of something I'd never reasonably expect to find out more about. Thanks, Cracked and Youtube, for making rummaging through my memory a bit less frustrating.

  • Rube Goldberg, bringer of death.

  • Cracked!!!!

  • One Eye's entire military is made of Rube Goldberg devices

  • RIP headphone users

  • This would have been amazing if it actually got completed.

  • I love how these studios FUCK with the creators of their films. Then reap the benefits when the public gushes all over the "newly found" product.

  • This is like the set to the most metal music video ever.

  • I've lost every respect i've had on Walt Disney. This further cemented how Disney produced a less superior movies.

  • This is like a much more badass version of aladdin. It should be made into a videogame.

  • If I didn't know the background of this film and someone told me it was CGI, i would totally buy it.

  • @yusbarrett This isn't CGI, it's all hand-drawn and it took 30 years to complete.

  • 1000 internets to anyone who can tell me where this music is from.

  • @NICEfilms1000

It's from an animated classic called "The Thief and the Cobbler."

  • @NICEfilms1000

The last bit is The Wasps Overture by Vaughan Williams. Dunno what the thumping first part is... maybe original soundtrack?

  • Think there were any survivors?

  • I finally understood what it's like to take LSD

  • I had never heard of this until I saw the cracked article. this is incredible.

  • I've seen this movie before Cracked wrote about. You should see it too. It's good

  • whats this AWESOME musical score??? i love the theme in this clip!

  • This is the funniest and best Rube Goldberg machine I've ever seen.

  • I have a huge, raging art boner right now.

  • Oh my god, this is beautiful

  • DRAW ALL THE SPIKES!

  • Final boss fight is an elaborate domino rally.... wtf

  • this is a horrible watch

  • imagine if this man ever go into cartoon porn hahaha

  • @Squeeks934 Rule 34...

  • HURRRRRRR at people mentioning cracked. Isn't it amazing that we all read the same articles? And somehow you feel the need to mention that we came from cracked? And people like that shit?

    What the fuck.

  • Now I understand why this film spent 30 years in production. Every time they thought a scene was finished, Richard Williams sent it back with a note: "I said MORE spikes, dammit!"

  • @blumbino its because every scene was hand drawed

  • Rube Golberg approved method of decimating an army.

  • 2:58

    man, fuck newton's first law!

  • Most epic game of mousetrap ever.

  • @Tokopeter LOL maybe that was the inspiration..
