  • I heard an interview of Arturo Sandoval when I lived in Miami and he was asked him on his opinion who was the best... The ansewr... Rafael Mendez.

  • Wow! I love this compilation....Excellent JOB!!!!

However, the blond lady after Louis Armstrong is the Norwegian protege called Tine Thing Helseth. And if you happen to do another edition, include Ingrid Jenssen and Gunhild Carling too.

  • Seriously no James Morrison?

  • There are only 8 possible "fingering" positions, and 2 are rarely used (third valve alone; and first, second, and third valves together). So learning the right "buttons to push" to get the right notes is relatively easy. But to play at this level is hard (it is very, very hard). Other than the 6 simple "fingering" positions -- it's all in the lips. Unless you have played the trumpet (which I use to -- very badly) it's hard to appreciate how truly talented these people are.

  • I know I'm biased, but if you are the best trumpet player that automatically also makes you the best musician -- since no instrument is better. (Sorry to all you violin and other players out there -- but none of you have better lips than a trumpet player.)

  • What is this soundtrack? the first song

  • No Cat Anderson?

  • They should of had Eric Miyashiro.

  • Phil is smoking on this, too!!!

  • I don't believe I saw Lee Morgan?!?

  • pause it at 2:04 and you can see that the guy was puffing his cheeks

  • @michael23rock Dizzy always did that. His cheeks really did puff out that much. You should see him in a front view.

  • I Simple am Impressed....But they Left out so Many other Greats..

Can't Believe I am Not in this Video...And Arrzo Turrod, And Bert Kemphert....

Thank You So Much... I Really Enjoyed this Alot....I LOVE MY TRUMPETS Dan

Though I Mostly only Play for myself and Veterans Funerals And For God and his Angels to hear Nowdays...Hug!

  • the GREATEST on the list

RAFAEL MENDEZ look 4 him on utube

  • Brecker & Mangione don't make it, even though I like them both too...

  • If you've ever played in a brass quintet, thank trumpeters Ronald Romm, Fred Mills, and Rolf Smedvig, who paved the way. If you've ever played in a brass ensemble, thank Philip Jones, who was the master.

  • Rafael Mendez is missing the "z" on his name when it appears on the screen.

  • That's a great video! Thanks for posting. And what were the songs for the soundtrack? Hope to get your reply.

    Deckerd

  • @Deckerd724 sound track 'Come Let Us Sing' by Phil Driscoll

  • what is the first song that is played in this video?

  • @NDguy41 bastard....

    .

  • a list of songs would be nice. and claiming "of all time" or "best" when it comes to music is completely relative, just sayin....

  • "of all time".....hmmmm some names are for sure amazing players but to give them the "world all time greatest" title....?! and you are missing some names who have done more then some of those in your list, like Malcoml McNab, Jerry Hey, Thomas Gansch,Adam Rapa,Horst Fischer and many more. But its always difficult to make one complete list.

  • MUSIC PHIL DRICOLL (INSTRUMINTS OF PRAISE) 1986.

  • THANKS!!! TO WHO EVER PUT THIS TOGETHER!

  • music was played by Phil Driscoll around 1990

  • How is it that you used a the actual clip and recording of Tine Thing Helseth and you did not include her name on the list? :-) In my opinion, even though young, she's right up there with the very best.

  • HERB ALPERT TIJUANA BRASS

  • Jon maynard sandoval

  • I stand corrected-Vizzutti strongly resembles the young Doc Severinsen- uncanny.

  • FYI: Doc Severinsen is mistakenly identified as Alan Vizzutti. Great vid - thanks!

  • You missed the Best latin Trumpet Player of the World ! Juancito Torres ! from Puerto Rico.

  • Luis "Perico" Ortiz
