So the dad died somewhere in WWI... And I thougth he died during the Red Summer... But then again, this is Disney, so there's no such thing as racism or the KKK, just as there was no such thing as a Native American genocide in that OTHER movie. I know this is supposed to be a kids movie, but ever since hearing about those animated Titanic movies, I find it troubling to hide historical tragedies in films. Whatever, nice commentary on the clips.

I couldn't help but notice your "Proud Family" references. A lot of the animations in this movie, especially Facilier ,were done by Bruce W. Smith. He helped create and animate Proud Family, Bebe's Kids, and a ton of other animated movies and series. So that's probably why they have a very similar look to them. But I think it looks really good though.

Okay, been a while but I just saw someone commented back. I'm upset because it is not historically acurate. While there was a lot of mistreatment of African American's in the South, that does not make it a standard thing. . Slavery was wrong. But it wasn't all bad. It gave everyone a chance to survive. Without the slave labor, everyone would have starved. Every race in history went through this. In fact its not even the most recent. You weren't effected immediately by this and neither was I.

She went and tried to find freedom herself, only returning to try to spare the life of an innocent and to repay debt. A life for a life... Or technically a hand...

She also helps defeat Jafar using her brains (and a bit of sex appeal) during the first movie, the second (to be continued)

And while many try to argue that she could have gone with Aladdin to find his father, I think it was better he did it himself. He needed to discover his past alone without further complications. And they made it obvious that she HATED staying at home and not being there with Aladdin to help him out. She was actually did a lot!

The most popular are Jasmine, Nala (Lion King 2), and Belle, and Mulan. They all did so much, so what if a few of Disney's not-so-popular princesses weren't as kick-ass as the rest, that's no reason to call all of the princesses "lazy hoes from Disney princess roster"! Especially when the majority did do stuff!

In Disney movies most of the females main or otherwise usually don't have much say in the actions of their story. The characters themselves just kind of exist. It's weird to say but they don't really have a role in their own stories a good part of the time.

Also Nala tried to break out of the barriersthat her father created for her and be independent. She stopped a blood feud between her family and Kovu's. She did do this along with Kovu, but it was her idea. Kovu wanted to run away with her! She also fought and defeated Sarabi but Nala never intended to kill her. She was just protecting Simba

When the fight between Simba's pride and Sarabi's pride was happening and Sarabi wanted to take over Pride Rock in honour of Scar, Kira and Kovu stopped the fight before Simba and Sarabi fought. Then as Sarabi lunged forward to attack Simba, Kira jumped onto Sarabi. Sarabi was dangling from the edge of a cliff and Kira held out her paw for Sarabi's. Sarabi fell off trying to scratch Kira's paw.

5:45- What pains me about this bit is that it reminds me of probably the biggest thing this film was missing: Subtlety. Disney have proven themselves better than this over the past, and with the exception of Pocahontas, even the films that do flat-out tell you what the message is usually word it in a way that's not too in-your-face.
