@BruceJBCpaintball That is a completely different scenario. The kinetic energy transferred from a .50 cal BMG to a target at that distance would be substantial, in fact very devastating. Do you see the graphic image i am painting?Thank You.
Richard Davis is still around, and his family line is still making body armor. Feel free to check out yet another video of a Davis taking a bullet - this time his son, Matt Davis - CEO of Armor Express. Thank you!
@crocop4life A real boss handles his own business :D. That takes guts to confirm the product you're selling by shooting yourself with a magnum. Usually manufacturers would put the BA on a stand inside a chamber and shoot at it from a safe distance.
@solopixy0 a 9mm DU - or 9mm tungsten cored - or even steel core 7.62x39 Com Bloc will not penetrate the Second Chance Hardcorp 3 vest. In reference to "ignite" I am referring to the pyrophoric property of D/U projectiles to ignite when they encounter armour. A moot point because the armour in this vest is surounded by multiple layers of Kevlar fabric - something you wouldn't know about seeing as you never owned or wore one in battle as I did long before you were a twinkle in your dads eye.
@DaBlindKungFuMastuh you should have seen the video where Richard had his dad fire a magazine of 7.62x39 Com bloc from a CZ semi-auto rifle into his Hardcorp 3 marine vest while standing on the boat in Lake Michigan - and then he jumps in the lake to test the life vest portion of the bullet proof vest!
@solopixy0 no son...such a round (if it existed in the USA) wouldn't penetrate the vest because the 9mm round wouldn't have enough muzzle velocity from a pistol to allow penetration.
& in his own word the energy is the same on the shooter as the one who is shot. My .308 & I use 7.62x51 NATO rounds in it still has a kick & if that's what d energy would be on the person getting hit they would move alot more then that.
I wore the very same vest serving in the Rhodesian Army which I personally bought from Richard at the factory in Central Lake, Michigan. The film and the bullets are real and the vest does work as demonstrated. Richard did these demos all the time - shame what happened to the company with the Zylon fabric debacle.
@solopixy0 listen to what Richard says in the video - the Hardorp 3 was designed to stop the standard Nato and Comboc weapons of the day. It will stop a .458 WinMag - but I wouldn't want to be wearing it at the time. I think 7mm RemMag or .338 Lapua probably would penetrate due to their very high muzzle velocity - but that's not what it was designed to stop.
@Automobile577 wrong bud - it's real...I knew the man personally and all of his demos were real. The only concession Richard made was too place a phonebook under the soft versions of his vest to prevent bruising and abrasions on his skin because he shot himself many times in front of disbelieving law enforcement audiences.
@hardman476 wrong bud - real bullets fired from real rifles. I fired Richards FN-FAL a number of times at stationary samples of his Hardcorp series of vests and wore one servng in the Rhodesian Army. They do everything you see demonstrated here.
@hardman476 becuse he firing an FN-FAL semi-auto rifle bud...they don't recoil much because the energy of the recoil is used to cycle the action. BTW - that particular FN was the full-auto version as Richard was a Class 3 collector at the time - I know because I fired it too.
Shut up and take my money!!

@adsmith27 you are wrong about that bud...a trained fighters punch or kick has more foot/lbs of energy than the average rifle bullet.
