Loved my X5 4.4.....when it wasn't in the shop for repairs, which was often unfortunately. Power windows broke constantly, taillights melted, CV boots gone at only 50,000 miles and loads of other things....a shame too because it was a blast to drive.

I don't know why people have to be mutually exclusive, with their support to either brand. They are not your favourite football team. You can like one, that doesn't automatically mean you must hate another. They are different in that Porsche is a supercar, and BMW isn't. I personally think Porsche should not overstep their boundary. Stick to making supercars. All this just creates too much choice for consumers. The Cayenne is a Taureg chassis, and that's not to be derogative.

My friend's E36 325tds is in 150.000 miles and still running great. Had a few minor electrical problems, but nothing serious.

And my other friends E60 525d is in 80.000 miles and had no problems yet.

If it's maintained good then you should have no problems with it.

I used to be a fan of Cayenne, until i saw this video. It's quite shocking and disappointing to see the Cayenne fumble so clumsily at 2.22 and 2.32. You don't expect to see such a blunder from a car like Cayenne. The X5 went through exactly the same test and was not showing any sign of it. X5 the winner and looks better.

If the BMW's are not meant to go off road, why make an SUV? May as well be a mini-van. I wouldn't get either, I would opt for something more purpose built, either a car or a real SUV. Same goes for the SRT8. I drive a stage 2 Forester XT. Different class I know, but similar performance once (easily) modified for whatever purpose you want, except for maybe luxury/style.

The X5 is not meant for off road. It is made for icey roads and snow driving. It is made to handel the road like only a BMW can. SRT8 has the power but does not handel like the X5 or Cayenne

I almost bought a Cayenne..but my buddy insisted that I test drive an X5....I came home with the X5. It corners sooooo much better. If your on the fence...take the test drive... It all comes down to how they drive. If you want to go up against the Cayenne Turbo....get the BMW Dinan Supercharger S3 upgrade......455HP....and about 700 lbs lighter.....do the math. Its comes down to the power to weight ratio!!!!
