Composer / original performer Richard Berry sang "LL", ('55), precisely, easy to understand, & family-friendly even by '55's standards. Listen to the Kingsmen's after Berry's, & you'll hear the same words, mumbled. THE REAL STORY: The sax player's mom registered the name "The Kingsmen", so when the record took off, the sax player demanded to be lead singer, so none of of us ever saw the real Kingsmen unless we were Portland teens in '63.

I was at the 3rth of July party Saturday in East Nashville and Todds band Elmo Buzz and the East Nashville  Bull Dogs played and one of the songs they did was Louie, Louie and man it was great and no Todd dooes not know the words either.
