I believe that the Battle for Moscow in the winter of 1941/42 was the turning point of the whole World War 2. After failing to take Moscow - and thus the USSR - the Germans could never win the war. Great Britain was still undefeated and now the Germans faced an undefeated and strengthening Soviet Red Army as well. Within 4 years German cities would be in rubble and the 'invincible' German Armies would be smashed.

You might want to do some research on who the USSR's allies were. Ever heard of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact? In 1939 both the USSR and Nazi Germany invaded Poland, which would be followed by various occupations in the Baltic States, and an attempted occupation of Finland (which they were defeated in). The USSR took 1/3rd of Poland (what is now Belarus) and the Nazis took the rest. Soviets invaded Poland along side the Nazis.

You might want to do some research on who the USSR's allies were. Ever heard of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact? In 1939 both the USSR and Nazi Germany invaded Poland, which would be followed by various occupations in the Baltic States, and an attempted occupation of Finland (which they were defeated in). The USSR took 1/3rd of Poland (what is now Belarus) and the Nazis took the rest. Soviets invaded Poland along side the Nazis.

when I was growing up in communist Poland, I remember these kinds of documentaries being aired on TV every day and most of the time ran at prime time, it was all in black and white and we only had two channels to choose from, first we had our "dobranoc" cartoon for the kids and then pure uncut Soviet propaganda for adults, plus a lot of how Polish soldiers fought along Russians in the name of communism, etc.

a lot of people in America seem to discredit the Soviets for defeating the hordes of "Nazi Zombies" and eventually driving the leader of the Nazi movement to suicide. I'm not saying they did it single handed but they played a KEY role in defeating the facists... my grandfather was a sniper in WWII for the United States Marine Corps
