  • fight with my girlfriend brought me here.

  • It's a shame they couldn't get his name spelled right in the opening credit of the video.

The opening name reads Robert Jhonson.

C'mon... didn't one person look at this before it was posted?

  • if you like delta blues check out my channel

  • "...the most important blues musician who ever lived. He was true, absolutely, to his own vision, and as deep as I have gotten into the music over the last 30 years, I have never found anything more deeply soulful than Robert Johnson. His music remains the most powerful cry that I think you can find in the human voice, really. ... it seemed to echo something I had always felt." - Eric Clapton

  • Quite astonishing really. A legend in the music world yet there are apparently only 2 or 3 photos of him in existence. This isn't really my kind of music, but that's not to say that I don't appreciate and respect this man, because I do. I like, for example, Eric Clapton, and as some of you will probably know Robert Johnson was a massive influence on him.

  • @90abyss I thimk it is a little sad that a TV show brought u ppl here...

  • @DamnoUnus then you know little enough about music to comment on what brought them where.

  • @DamnoUnus i think its VERY sad that you think its sad that TV brouight someone to music. seriously BRO why does it matter what medium someone learns or discovers from. does it make you more a man because you heard of johnson's music on the radio? does it make you a better human being because a friend or relative told you about johnson. the only really sad thing in this case is judgemental ppl. and you sir seem to fit the bill just fine.

  • Robert Johnson went down to the crossroads to sell his soul, what have you done with yours?

  • @zeppguitarded Fair enough i respect that, I just think its great how Claptons put Crossroads on the modern map out of tribute to Johnson, Johnson gets all the applause from me though

  • Why Angelina Jolie is there ?!?!?!

  • Comment removed

  • if you dig delta blues check out my 1930's playlist

  • of course anyone has the perfect right to disagree. It's legend, what's that tell you

  • dope as fuck

  • 1st thing to consider You do not own your soul and as such, There is No way that you could sell it The "six Lost souls" are the strings of a standard guitar. BTW I remember "crossroads' movie and Willie Brown from the song, some great playing, Steve Via I believe. who was taught by Satriani, not Satan {Joe's much better as a teacher} sounds nothing like this, it's blue's alright but dying po' ain't a good trade if it were possible. Legends are mostly lies who would know him without the covers?

  • This make me want come back in time.

  • Supernatural, anyone?

  • Comment removed

  • Perhaps Robert Johnson made a deal with the devil, but he died poor and unknown . . However, it was the "white-brothers" who became rich and famous off his music. So, who really signed the contract for their soul's???

  • @duqmiguel Apparently the contract Johnson signed was to be a great Blues guitar player, but he forgot to mention fame.

  • @Swingovation you mean fame in his lifetime right?

  • @tripleleo Yep! Ah well, all great people must eventually die to become true legends.

  • do you know how many songs were stolen from robert johnson?

  • I got Roberts sat nav it`s on e bay how much you gonna pay?

  • i'm here because Supernatural season 2 Crossroad blues !!

  • You gotta love the blues!

  • muito bom o video

  • very good song

  • Angelina is there to give us the blues because she is not next to us !

  • don't know why Angelina's on here?

  • Damn if I don't hear all kindsa worlds when i hear this guy sing!

  • Some guys in England have taken the Robert Johnson recordings, slowed them down 20%, and put them on an album collection. I heard the album and it really does sound more natural. I think the original recordings were sped up to get them to fit the 78 rpm record format. Very interesting. I'd like to get my hands on their collection. As it is, what I do is to slow them down myself using software I have on my computer.

  • @zimmyfan115 Yeah it's true. The originals were "acidentally" sped up by about 20% Wikipedia brooo

  • I cant understand people, they purposley direct themselves to this site and have to post negative things?

  • The picture at :48 looks like the Vermilion Cliffs just when you turn off 17 onto 89A in Northern Arizona south of Page

    .

  • Hail Satan!

  • He was (and still is) a master. And I don't care who argues over which version was the best (John Mayer, Cream, or this version), this will always be the original version. He poured his heart and soul into his music, and you can truly hear that. This man is truly a legend.

  • I watched the film Crossroads, but was disappointed to find the absence of Benny and Miss Diane....

  • sweet

  • whats with the pale devil women in this why cant black people have our culture without pale devils trying to steal it an make it theirs ?

  • @Chickthrillamanilla if it wasn't for that pain they gave us, we wouldn't have this

  • anjolina julie , wtf???

  • Back in the 1920's when this song was written "Crossroads" was two words, not one. So technically the title should read "Cross Roads by Robert Johnson. But whatever, what a great song.

  • @bevil4aday Cool Story Bro

  • This Robert Johnson dude has the vintage look & sound down pat! He’s obviously extensively studied the old blues guys from the 20’s & 30’s. I’ve never heard of him before, probably because he needs to get better management & public relations. Like, where’s the magazine & TV interviews, & live performance clips? He could be big. But I bet he listens to rap when he’s by himself at home

  • @CecilTheSeaMonster Are you kidding me? This "Robert Johnson dude" was born in 1911 and died in 1938. Study up a bit on your musical history. He was BIG...He is revered by true blues lovers and has been the influence for many of our modern rock and blues musicians. Try Wikipedia for more info on the HISTORIC Robert Johnson. His story is the Blues itself.

  • @memfisman Dude are you honestly too dumb to realize that he's trolling

  • @CecilTheSeaMonster whom did you sell your soul to again ? Snoop's dog was it ?

  • @CecilTheSeaMonster are you fucking serious?!

  • if i were sure that i'm gonna play like that i wouldn't waste any second thinking about selling my soul

  • HE SOLD HIS SOUL AT A PRETTY CRAPPY TIME

  • theres just him and a guitar, but it sounds like two guitars, must be a devil helping him.

  • @rezboy74 well actually a demon according to supernatural :P

  • @rezboy74 racist

  • @rezboy74 Everyone says that but I'm not hearing it. Maybe playing for 20 years has ruined the magic for me lol

    Still awesome legendary stuff. :-)

  • @rezboy74 no it doesnt

  • the first member of the 27 club & a true guitar master

  • @OldMrJ I can guarantee you biblically he is singing the blues in a way that he never has before where he is at right now!

One Question; "Is your sin so luscious that you will burn in hell forever for it?!"

  • @OldMrJ nope not the first member ;) the first member was Louis Chauvin born March 13, 1881 died March 26, 1908, aged 27

  • @Jgeres2 I'm afraid we're both wrong. According to wiki it was Alexandre Levy (November 10, 1864 — January 17, 1892) another pianist

  • @OldMrJ o haha well then my memory failed me this time :P

  • Comment removed

  • @OldMrJ Alexandre Levy would be the first member of the 27 club, but yeah Johnson is a true guitar master...

  • He sold his soul to satan you know.

  • who needs god anyway?!

  • Feel good music, about feeling bad! Gotta love them blues!

  • Wtf? Did I just see Angelina Jolie? Robert Johnson was reincarnated as Angelina Jolie? Why the fuck didn't anyone tell me? Wrong...just wrong.

  • Creepy hearing Satan sing.

  • @turbotrauma I honestly didn`t read it as close and thought you said Santa.

  • love ya mr robert johnson! blinding!

  • How this turned to Motohead shit?!

  • Never Sell Your Soul ... Ya Hear !

  • good stuff

  • Crossroads is a 1986 film starring Ralph Macchio, Joe Seneca and Jami Gertz, inspired by the legend of blues musician Robert Johnson.

The film was written by John Fusco and directed by Walter Hill and featured an original score featuring Ry Cooder and Steve Vai on the soundtrack's guitar, and harmonica by Sonny Terry. Vai also appears in the film as the devil's guitar player in the climactic guitar duel.

    Courtesy of Wikipedia.

  • @01blaine My all time favorite movie. Crossroads. Man that guitar duel has got to be one of the top 10 best film scenes ever!!!

  • You should all watch BBC Folk America.

it covers from the 1900 - 1963 when dylan turns electric

  • parts of the movie are on youtube I am pretty sure. EPIC.

  • I agree. You need to find and watch the movie Crossroads. Hard to find but it is so good.

  • Epic

  • I wish they'd make a movie about him..

  • @tazie45 there is a 1986 film called crossroads which is based around him. i suggest you take a look, great film!!!

  • There has been a mistake about the "selling the soul to the devil" legend.

The legend was first told to be about Tommy Johnson (another blues guitarist, not related to Robert).

Then Robert wrote, in first person, this song about Tommy, and everybody thought he was talking about himslef.

It is still a great song.

  • @marcocastanho That's not true. Other blues artist said Robert was talking about himself. They said Robert was not good at all until he went to the crossroads and sold his soul. They said within a few months he came back playing better than anyone around. And by the way, I am from Mississippi and I know people that knew him.

  • @toreal03 nice, if true. But it's a myth ...

  • @woezid prove it

  • Wow~this song stirs the emotions!

My oh my~ this is music! (*_*)

  • Godammnit why cant it be the 30's?

  • rob thank you man !!! for your great music and helping eric (kripke) with the "crossroad dealing"

  • why do a lot of people find robert johnson more important than the other blues musicians like son house and charley patton?

  • @DGENERATE07 its down to the quality of his recordings, somebody had kept the original master recordings, where the rest of them were destroyed during the war to make boots.

    look at bbc folk americia.

  • @Lazairus ahh i see, thanks a lot very helpful

  • Thats music.

  • Like if you think he sold his soul to the crossroad demon

  • Comment removed

  • @sebbeas123 You are a faggot.

  • @WorshipInTruth I second that.

  • @WorshipInTruth go fuck yourself, why am i a faggot?

  • Comment removed

  • i want a ratrod now...

  • magic

  • I love this kind of music! It simply makes my heart beat! luv ya Mr. Johnson.

  • why do people say he sold his sold to the devil to be the best blues player? I think they are deamonizing him. No one should say that about anyone else.

  • @frank02111 It's a legend that got started because of the subtext of some of his songs, ie Crossroad Blues, Hell Hound on my Trail etc.

  • This is where it all started. Every rock, metal, country blues player since Robert J, owes respect!

  • gotta love this. you just feel it in the pit of your stomach. i can only imagine hearing this for the first time back in the day....

  • Thank You for posting this song!!! I really tought I wouldn´t ever find it in YouTube.

    Kisses from Argentina.

  • This is some of where it all began-fantastic!
