Thanks for viewing and comments Snackay. I would have agreed with you if we had let it go the first time when it started to head for the bottom, but we did give it a good chance to recover and I am confident it survived that day. It was fatigued after a tough fight on 20lb line and took a while to bring it back.
@PaintballerPBful Sailfish are smaller but fight a whole lot harder compared to there size. Sailfish have a dorsal (top) fin that runs alont the whole back while all marlin have a peak part of the fin and then it slopes downward.
Good show boys especially love it when no sh-t music is added to a fishing video..makes one feel the tension..Now the next time it takes you that long to release it try Mouth to mouth they usually come around much faster,LoL
Thank you for your comments. yeah, that was nothing, the video was obviously shorter. It was a 20 odd minute fight on 20lb line,, it was cool. The fish was really tired when it came in, so, good boys that we are (not)we had to release it. We caught and release 4 on that trip. We are off again in March, that's my fishing buddies Paul and Caesar. If you don't mind me asking, Mobmafia name rings a bell but I can't remember who you are by your nickname.

@PaintballerPBful Marlin, unlike the Sailfish, has no massive almost body-length sail type fin *nods.

@mobmafia He was just shocked that he got caught, I dont think any harm came to him.
Which puts up a better fight a sail or a marlin? I have had some crazy fights with baracoodas.
