I am donating my kidney to my Dad next month and I agree with you that more people should see what they can do to help, whether through organ donation or locks of love. I was asleep during the procedure so I missed some of the finer details of the operation, but it's mostly right. There are some good videos of the actual operation on the internets if you do a little more searching.

I agree that doing a million takes was annoying as hell, but I did it for you. A 10 minute waste of time is twice as bad.

At least you tried.  Most of the dangers are the normal ones connected with major surgery under general anesthesia. I had a great surgical team who had done it many times.

I hope you got rid of your right kidney because that CT picture is showing your left as a redsox kidney and your right as a Yankees left... when you look at a CT, you see it as if the patient is facing you, thus, anatomically the patients right is on your left and vice versa.

No, I was not a candidate for laparopspy because of other medical issues. However, I have two fully functioning kidneys with no measurable cancer right now so it is all good. Sleeping in a recliner really helped. Did you try it?

The incisions are tiny (less than an inch). If I looked good in a bathing suit, I would still look good in a bathing suit.

Recipient's company pays for all tests and procedures. Donor's company does nothing (no increased premiums or anything).
