Damnit boy, now I really miss my '87 & '89 :( lol. Yeah as far as those who never owned a Z31 n wanna talk ish, please do, but do it to someone whos never owned one too. Maybe then your bullshit will stick. Z31 BABY!!!!!
When will Nissan give the Z it's original body style back? Current Z's look are okay, but still resemble boated pigs. I'll take the sleek, sexy body of the Z31 any day of the week. And twice on sunday!
I love the way people who have never owned a z31 always try to talk about the bad things with the engines, every engine has it's faults, I melted two vg30et blocks before I finally sleeved the cylinders, now I pull 8 psi in street trim and stage it at the track running 22 psi, and it has been living well for 5 years, more than I can say about my Reher Morrison big block chevy,, which died after one season. brianzana needs to stick to his yugo.
Hey man I have a 1988 300zx witth a VG30E (N/A) 5Spd, I wanna build it up but getting a little discouraged but all the negative things I been hearing help me out man, I'd appreciate it =/
Where can I get my hands on a VG30ET engine? I'm trying to do a swap into my Hardbody. From what I've been told everything is bolt up. What websites will give me the best info for the swap?
The VG30ET is one of the strongest V6 turbo engines of all time, your response oozes ignorance. Just check out some of the other videos on my channel, there are many people running 300-400rwhp on stock internals...
I can vouch for this. I have a friend who has a late model 90's maxima that ran a VG30E. He had it for 140,000 miles and turbocharged it for the last 60,000 with no problems. 200,000 miles later, it runs like new. The VG30ET most definitely is one of the strongest V6 turbo engines.
@z31club I agree, as a fan of endurance racing and IMSA racing, just as an FYI, the GTP ZX was using a VG30ET stock block, though internals were specially built to cope with the 800+HP it dished out in race trim, and upwards of 1000HP in Qualifying trim.
I'm sorry, I'm going to have to call bullshit on this run. Frank's viperkiller Z ran a 9.3, and he had a 1.3-1.4 60' time. Streetfighter 2jz ran 144 thru the trap at 10.5. there is NO way you ran a 9.3 @ 143 with that weak ass launch. Post time slips please....
your stupid if you think he didn't run that fast.. plus streetfighter doesn't have a suspention setup.. it's stock this guy is has alot better suspension.. i know streetfighter, and his car is capable of a 9 but without a suspention it's not possible
@five02slow why do you need slips when you can see the video the track displays the time what a dump truck! he launced around 40sec in the video and the dispaly should 9.3 at 50 sec I believe it time it yourself hater!
wow i remember my z black 84 2+2 5spd rusted to hell and back but that rust ball spanked honda ass like no other once i got the cat out k&n filter and stickier rear tires and replaced the spark plugs that thing owned a lot of modern cars! oh and ALL electric thingies still worked flawlessly might i add!
for money vs horsepower the sr is just way to expensive.. it cost 3k just for the motor, wiring harness and other junk.. you can pick up a vg30et for about 500 bucks max at a junkyard and drop that extra 2500 into it and there would be no comparison.. but yes both engines very reliable.. and to answer you statement the sr has more potential just cost more in the long run.. but vg30et isn't junk just highly underated
dude wtf the vg30ET was one of the best motors ever and they used the motor up untill now in man nissan cars. the vg30 sohc motor is stronger than the de motro the vg30 can produce 800Hp on stock internals for verry little money as in like $3,000 the sr20 you would have to put well over 10,000 in it to get 600hp not to + the vg hase 200+hp stock vs the sr's 150 hp. and the sr is the most unreliabel motor nissan made. i have owned over 10 of them my vg never give me problems and has 200K on it.
iam producing 400+Hp with well under 1,500 in my motor after this winter i will be up around 700+hp with little money spent maybe i have 2500 in my motor and it will still be a reliable DD and i trust my Z to go anywhere with it. my most expencive thing i got was head and main studs and my rods.
if you ever produce 700hp and it lasts past 2 months of acceleration i'll be surprised but the vg30et's internals are good for about 500 to 600 hp but the torque is what kills these motors.. so i'd say more like 500hp max to these engines
First, the VG30 came stock with 153hp not 200+!! I have no Idea where you came up with that number, unless you were talking about the VG30et.The guy I was responding to was planning on using the early version. As for 800hp on stock internals, your nuts! My VG30dett in my 95 TT can't even handle that kind of hp without major internal work. The 84-89 VG was a joke compared to it and would explode if you even tried to bump the hp past 300. The VG has been changed 8 times over the years!!
yes the vg30 came with 153hp but he's talking about the vg30et the turbo version, it has like 205hp and yah he won't see no 700hp on stock internals or 2500 dollars there's just no way.. but these motors are very reliable i have a friend on 23psi stock motor only thing is he's on a t3/t4 turbo and he put down 360hp and 480tq if you don't believe i'll post up a video.. not trying to argue just letting you know some things.. so no offense
Is he running 23 lbs as a daily driver or just on the track? If he is running it daily and it is holding up then that's great. I have a 95 TT Z and I would be worried about running that kind of boost daily.
iam running the frontier se/sc heads and bottom end. at the moment there faily inexpencive and a nissan tech of 20+ years told me what it was good up to b/c my first plane was a 5.6L titan motor. but the vg33 is a direct bolt in and about 2000 cheaper i got mine from a junk yard for $200 with everything.
and a mild tune on a Shiro ecu it runs grate even na with low compression. but yes the sohc are servirly under rated.
actually seb was running 700whp in his competition track Z bone stock internals. Upgraded turbos/fuel and tranny ran high 9's. truthfullly the issue is they can beat the bearings from under the rods above 700whp. I agree no 4cyl belongs in a Z. the SR is ok in a lighter chasis not a heavy car like a Z
@brianzana First, NA vg30e's have 160-180bhp. Max power on stock internals is about the same as other nissans, 500hp. Making 800hp out of a single turbo and a single overhead cam design. 13 bolts per head on the VG30E, compared to 8 bolts per head on the DE. And assuming everything is good on the motor, having the ability to run 21psi on stock headgaskets. You think that is a joke? Your ignorance makes nissan owners look bad.
yo man, wheres the track in bradenton at? i lived there for a while in the apartment complex carlton arms, take manatee all the way past downtown away from the beach and go over a bridge and they are on the left. im familiar with cortez st., 14th st., manatee ave., and other basic roads...if you could give directions how to get there from carlton arms apartments, it'd be much appreciated. thanks man!
everything possible. this was built by central florids turbo. look em up. im looking into getting my 86 built by them. not stupid fast like this one. only 380-420 hp tq =]
lol wow burna44 this z would blow by your twin turbo ass and single turbo's are the best because it all goes in one flow or direction unlike your tiwn turbo
lol you really don't know what your talking about.. in all actuality it depends on how much room you have to whats a better setup, cause setting up a twin turbo's involves alot of extra piping when a single needs not near as much depending on how you set it up.. but it all goes to the same place in the same direction..
im down at desoto all the time and ive never seen that car there.. are you part of the suncoast z car club??? i live in ellenton.. i drive a white *% n/a with black riken wheels, ive never seen another z in manatee county that was nicer than mine (not bragging, just pointing out my z has its fair share of problems too) do you live in bradenton??

they do just about anything..i had all my work custom built ii have the worlds forst NON SRT caliber thats been turboed.. all depends on the money you want to spend
The Turbo is not that Big,ITs got A Stock 5spd,Stock Rear End,Stock Axles,Stock Turbo Manifolds.I got to Ride in the Car tonight and It is By Far the Sickest Car Ive Been In
