yea the london cartwheel completely counters this, in fact even worse than it counters london because your arms are completely on the other side of his head
It seems to work well, and I can tell u have some experience. I would recommend checking out Eddie Bravo's rubber guard 1/3 - 3/3, and submissions 101 has some great stuff. Also, take a look at Sean Bollinger's double arm triangle. The double arm triangle opens up a lot of possibilities with the 'double bagger'. Also, Eddie has a move called the sorcerer on PanicPulse's page. These are all references to youtube videos, so search for them & check them out.
very intresting technique, i use that pass all the time, but i prefer being on my back so if some one tries it on me, i'm gonna give this a shot... curious to see how it works
This is interesting man. I've been wanting to play around with using the opposite arm to hold the leg, which is exactly what you are doing here. The only thing I would say is I would probably try to reverse triangle my legs if I had the room to get my (in this case, right) leg through at all. Or swivel back and go for the standard triangle. Any time I can get that leg through I am looking for triangle. Keep up the good work!
I tapped a guy at state tourney by moving my arm across the neck as he shows at :35. It has been a go-to choke for a year now. I dont even kick out to the side. Usually the opponent will use free arm to defend, which allows you to triangle legs and get it tighter, or abandon the arm across neck and end in normal triangle. But sometimes you can torque their neck enough they tap from just the arm across neck.
This was interesting. I tried the move with my students here in Columbia, SC and we immediately noticed that by moving the left arm from the New York Position it allowed for my opponent to quickly recover his arm back to a Home Alone position. This ended up putting me back in a senario where I had to back up and regain control of my opponents posture. We are an MMA school however and focus on Jitz w/ hits. Keep working on it. Innovation is the key to evolution!
the problem I see is when the person starts to pass they might put their left leg on the speakers right thigh before he switches hands and pass, but idk i will have to try it out
I have had some success with it in live rolls, BUT these days I train with a pretty small group of training partners and I'm just not much of a competitor, so I don't feel like I have enough opportunity to test it sufficiently on my own. So this is my exactly why posted the video; hoping to get feedback from people who have more expertise than myself.
Interesting move, I must say, it reminds me of a variation of the traditional judo move called Hadaka- jime.
I pulled it out on my training partner the other day. It was great. it is a nice choke straight from mission control. Not only that but you have a arm bar in there with the choke at the same time.
....... Of course, the squeeze, double bagger, crackhead control ect.ect. can prevent this in the first place BUT , IF I find my guard being passed like this and the carni is stuffed then what other options do I have ? As I said, this is just something I've been experimenting with. Any help with this is appreciated ! Thank you.
Hey, thank you for the feedback. Good point. My thinking is that there are still a lot of guys out there who, because they have still not developed the leg squeeze stamina or for what ever reason, are still getting their guard passed when their opponent pushes down their leg and crawls over it (even when they have chill dog). Plus I'm seeing guys who are learning to stop the carni by stuffing the leg under the knee (not allowing it between the legs).
Why would yo do any of that? if you have the chance to go chill dog why would you put you arm on the othe side of the neck and try to choke. Then let go and do some kind of armbar that would never work.jst my opinion
Thanks for the breakdown bro, I think at my current level it's too much of an advanced choke for me to even consider.

Nick Pace did this move in TUF finale!!!!!!!!! :)

@bentsmma Almost. He additionally used his second hand to support the choke. But yeah, basically it's the same concept.

I am wondering what is stopping him from cartwheeling counter clockwise to escape, kind of like how the London position was countered?

at the end he says "spiderweb position", it is only spiderweb if he has the leg hooked, and he does not

That's some nice stuff, have you ever pulled any of it off in a live roll?
