Thanks for the comments folks. I recorded us playing at a club in Mission Hills just north of Los Angeles in 1989. I met Danny & Joe in '86 when they hired me as music copyist. i liked them both as musicians and as people. Their wives were very nice too. I worked with them on various projects until Dan passed in the early '90s. I enjoyed performing this song even though the synth playing was a little rough!
I think the 1970s sound is captured in this song better than anything else of that time period. It has stuck with me since I heard it as a kid and learned every word from the radio. It brings the memories back more than any others of the time.
are these the same guys from the ventures type band t-bones? if so, quite a change of direction. and do you know the full name of the singer ? this is not the version i have on 45 by the way. as i look at some of the pics, iwonder if they did this later 4 a wedding or something. regards

I think you did a great job, love these guys when I was a kid, brings back fun memories. I wasn't aware we had lost 2 of them. Do you know when & how? Sad, they were cool back then. Thanks for sharing these videos. =)
I know Danny was with the T-Bones but I don't know his history with them. I know he wrote "Diamond Head" which The Ventures recorded but he never mentioned it to me. I've never heard of the Shivaree show and never saw the video you mentioned. I doubt if I could recognize anyone from back then anyway, including myself....Thanks for your comment!
Being able to see Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds in concert and having front row center seats...what more could I ask for! I had a thing for Joe Frank back then...does anyone know what he is doing these days?
Dan passed away in the early 90s and Joe Frank moved back to Mississippi around then. Tommy was in Florida and didn't play with us. The drummer John was a studio cat and probably is still in Los Angeles. I lost track of everyone when I formed my own group...Danny and Joe were cool and I miss 'em. Thanks for asking!
I can still remember a few words....the G.I.'s in Japan used to say: "Don't touch your mustache" when I was there in the late 60's to 1971. Thanks for your comment!
Don't pull your love ...... I always thought this was Elvis!! Until a few years ago... I'm 3o yrs. old, very into music, but always thought it was Elvis... hmmmmmmm. anyone else?
This is so cool and thanks for posting it.H,JF&R and Dennison were great and the fans and music world misses the late Dan Hamilton.Dan had a great solo 45 in 1972 called Don't Wait Up For Me Tonight which sounded just like H,JF&R.Does anyone know if there was ever a solo Dan LP released for this/The label said it was forthcoming but my guess is that it turned into Hallway Symphony and the band's 2nd album. Thanks again!!
Yeah, I think my mom bought that album for me because "Candy Man" by Sammy Davis Jr. was track #1 and Willy Wonka was quite a phenomena with us grade-schoolers at that time. Chick-a-Boom was also one of my favs off that album. Good times, fond memories.
I got the album by Hot Butter for Christmas. I think I asked for it. I'm pretty sure the song was called Popcorn and the group called Hot Butter. Loved it! Had alot of good songs on it. Oh, why did I sell it at a rummage sale?? At least I can hear some of it on YouTube =D
TY usafbrat50!! Have just heard it on VH1 about 5 mins. ago and fell in love with them all over again!! LOVE the way (whichever one it is) holds that particular note so long.
it really is cool to see several different songs done by them. it is also cool to see the things people are writting about them. I am one of Joe Frank's nephews, so it is truly good to see that people still rember them and have come up with some cool stuff will all the band together....thanks
This is my favorite song in the whole world because it happened to be playing on the radio at the very moment in my childhood when I actually "listened" to music for the first time and appreciated it for more than just background noise. Call it a musical epiphany or something, but I remember every detail of my surroundings as if it were yesterday. It could have been any song I guess, but for me it was this one.
It was 1972, I was 7 years old, and it was then that I decided I wanted to sing and play music so I took up piano lessons and began singing. My mother bought me my first record "22 Explosive Hits by K-Tel"; I wore this track out completely and I still have the album in my collection. My wife and I have performed all kinds of music over the years, but the songs of 1972 have a special place in my heart and this one in particular is what started it all for me. Thanks for the fond memories.
hey man..you sure it wasnt 22 "fantastic" hits..with tie a yellow ribbon..and midnight train to georgia? cause I wore that one out..oh it also had louis louis..by the band stories. I always wonder if this music of the 70s is really the greatest music of all time or if I came of age listening to this music and thats why its so special.
HEy!"22 Explosive Hits by K-Tel"; was also My 1st record that I ever bought I was 10 & this was my favorite tune on it along w/ Hot Butter by Popcorn & Chick a boom, so much fun!
I really enjoyed seeing all the pictures of the albums! Danny was my grandpa's baby brother, so kinda like Cinchy, I've always thought that it's kinda fun knowing you're related to someone cool! Danny died when I was still pretty young and I only remember meeting him once, but I still get excited everytime I hear one of his songs on the radio! Thanks for posting this!
I saw Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reyonlds with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and special guests England Dan and John Ford Coley. The tickets were 8 feet long! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I thought this was so great! I'm glad to see that someone is showing respect for the whole band and not just their music. I am a cousin of Joe Franks and it was neat growing up knowing that I had a famous relative. Also glad to see musical talent runs in the family (his son Joey)

Sorry, all the photos I had were used which were, unfortunately, too few. As for Ann I don't know if she released a CD or not but maybe Amazon might have it if she did. I also have two other songs on my page which are listed under Danny & Joe. We worked on those a couple of years before Dan passed away. One is "Wanna Do Ya" and the other is "Give It Up".
Cool! Funny how I just started thinking of them and found this only a wekk or so later. Brings back good memories from the 'ol jukebox. Always loved the song, now I can put some images to it too...
