This was filmed over a busy weekend when people are out shopping and socialising. (Eating & drinking but no drunk drivers.)
Cars are not banned from Basle, but if public transport is affordable and easy to use, people can leave the car at home.
Also, the trams run at street level; I wonder if that makes people more inclined to hop on and off them, rather than having to enter a metro station and descend to a subway or underground railway?
