I spent hours listening to Engine of Excess album in the 70,s.Got to be one of the best albums to come out of that era and still class to listen to now.The band should of went on to be just as big as the Chilli Peppers.
Fantastisch, zag ze samen met mijn broer in Vlissingen, Holland ergens begin '80 toen we er op vakantie waren. Onze leren jasjes vol met buttons, mooie tijd, vergeet het nooit.
see these at reading fest got home bought the album played it to death still a old fave album no one knows of them, and i am still shocked they didnt become huge.love it
The most underated band in the whole post punk era but I know why because Laughing Academy has not been available in years (cd 1994 but below par sound quality) this excellent album . Who has the master tapes? Restore it please
great stuff, saw them at the centre hotel along with Arthur two stroke and the noise toys, and supporting the Skids I think at the City hotel newcastle,
The 'do you understand?' section in 7/4 time is compelling... Punilux were outstanding at London's Nashville in December 1978... Their sound check alone was worth the entry price... A 1987 reunion/relaunch gig at the Red Lion, Brentford was interesting - I enjoyed hearing some song about Asia/China. What a pity they demolished the Red Lion. It's now a McDonalds.
So thats cool I didn,t imagine New Wave. Great to hear them again. Saw them a few times at The Metro in Plymouth suddenly I,m 17 again.. Brilliant video and track. Cheers
At last, someone who went to the metro in the late 70s. The cure, undertones, rezillos, sham 69 among many others were seen there in 78. Very small venue i seem to remember.
Yup that's right. A great little venue with some great bands. I had the Cure (who were only a 3 piece) sign a napkin that I still have in my copy of 'Killing an Arab'. I used to travel up from Torquay listening to 'Parallel lines' and the 'B52s' (Drivers choice). I think it was the `Rezillos' who had a Dalek on stage. I loved those days. Never huge crowds, in fact the Cure probably played to 30. The encore was the whole set again.....twice!! Memories!
they played Newcastle a couple of times backing the skids, penetration and totally out shone them. I remember when they backed penetration and the crowd were booing etc o their arrival, by the time they had finishe d the whole audiance weregoing fuckin mental, BRILLIANT!
good. i saw a gig in the 70's. banshees, human league and spizz oil. human league got booed till they did rock n roll. but line that with spizz as well, best gig i ever went to
Saw 'em above the Coach 'n' Horses pub in Chester. I think it was summer '79. I was awestruck. Saw Teardrop explodes the week previous and was very underwhelmed. Tontrix were good though, especially they're roadie, Francesco.
Great video, thanks, thanks! This was a haunting, mystic and powerful album. A sadly underrated group which had an uniquely own sound. In my eyes one of the top 10 albums of the punk/new wave era
