I agree, that the War of Independence we beat the British,yes well there intelligence system.Ok say Churchill invaded in 1922,this would not be a cloat & dagger war it would have been hell on earth.the country would have been burned from north to south to the ground.Ten s of Thousends would have died.Would that be ok? The Brits could not beat the IRA & the IRA could not beat the brits you know that aswell as I do.
Great footage, but the typed commentary is a bit misleading & one sided.The Civil war was about Brugha & Dev trying to carve out a name for themselfs.If Collins had been left alone we would have a lot more then 26 countys now.But no others knew more! look what FF did when they got into power they f***ed up Ireland for years.Thank God the right side won that war ! Its a shame they started it in the first place & destroyed Collins & our future.
The right side won?! Brugha had already a name carved out! CNG/ FG are no better than FF. Collins should not have signed it. The same crown the staters pledged allegiance to, continue to kill innocent Irish people til this very day. Once the 6 counties were conceded, that was the issue finished and Collins and Dev knew it.
Also a 32 county Free State would NOT unite the country. Loyalists and unionists wouldn't feel welcome with article 44 section 2 of Bunreacht na hÉireann would they?
So who would you have liked to win the Civil war ? Liam Lynch ? Ok lets just say the other side had won .how long would it have took for us to invade the north a year maybe 5.The brits would have come in with a fury of hell we could no imagine.We would be part of the Uk now the whole 32 countys.Now imagine your beloved Brugha & his buddys had bit there lips for a while.Collins was doing a nice job gun running & would have worked 100% to unite the country.Stepping stone remember that.
The best thing is you ignore that during the tan war and operation banner the IRA beat the British Army and both times the Brits admitted they "couldn't defeat the IRA." So there goes your Free State "the Brits will wipe us out" theory.
At least the Irish would be resisting British rule if the whole 32 counties were in, instead of complaining about "dissidents".
And your theory about the Irregulars biting their lips ignores the valid points I made in my last paragraph.
