This is the only silent hill vid that's even remotely good . The still-shot monsters are really kewl, but the other vids of this game makes it looks incredibly lame and boring. Congrats....you're the only one that's done this game any justice at all. I think the game had a lot of potential, but it seems to be filled with a lot of BS and stupidity. I wouldn't waste my time, or money with it.
@Mst3kfanatic1: Did you read the interview? Gans' justification for having Rose makes perfect sense. Overall, while there were some things I didn't like with the film version, it's still a damn good movie. Also the sequel will be based on SH3 and Michael Bassett (Solomon Kane) is writing and directing. It's also in 3D. Bassett also has been asking the fans what they want at his blog, and I think he'll do a great job.

@gypsydreamer09 There's two easy ways to kill that doll - but you really have to be on your feet and you have to roll back and forth, anticipating and dodging scarlet swinging her arms. The first way is using a crowbar when she's not swinging, run up to her and beat the hell out of her legs - her "skin" will start coming off, exposing her "muscles", and then go to town; the second method is using the alien laser gun - but you have to finish the game first and play through again to get that.
@tauceti2 the movie was kinda a let down...mainly because a female is the lead when the movie is clearly based on SH1 so a man should have been the lead. the only thing i liked in the movie was pyramid head ripping the lady's skin off.
@Mst3kfanatic1 You may want to either read Christophe Gans' justification for this, or check out the Directors' Commentary on the DVD - once you do, it makes sense why the lead character of the movie is a Woman. While the film version wasn't perfect, as far as video game to film adaptions, it was pretty damn good. Think of it like this - at least uwe boll didn't get his grubby paws on Silent Hill: The Movie.
@chj2 sorry but you cant justify replacing harry mason with some woman, and i dont know what the hell they did with the story silent hill 1 was nothing like that, the only female who can truly carry a lead role in silent hill is heather from SH3, hopefully if they do a sequel it will be based on the second game perfectly with no deviation and make the main character a man and call him james sunderland

The schisms symbolize the split in protocol that THE ORDER in Shepherd's Glen (the main setting of Silent Hill: Homecoming), specifically the Shepherd Family, did. In other words, all the members of the order (the parents, i.e., The Doctor, the Judge, etc.) had to sacrifice their young children per the protocol of the order. When it came time for the Shepherd Family, they broke protocol, and Alex's younger brother was sacrificed (CONTINUED---->)
@chj2 (CONT'D) when Alex accidentally killed him in a boating accident. The ORDER would not accept this change in protocol as a sacrifice, and the Shepherd Family was treated as an outcast. In order for Alex's Dad to get back into good standing, as well as get rid of the paranormal forces leaking into Shepherd's Glen from Silent Hill, Alex would have to be killed. That's why Alex goes through the things he does - because again, the Shepherd Family split from official protocol.
I dunno. I still like the old monster style from 2 and 3 better. Less Resident Evil-esque. That's what you get from an American team, though. They took too much from the movie for this game.

If you notice closely, the missing children in the game were: 1)First born children, and 2)killed by their parents, who 3)were members of The Shepherd Glen's branch of The Order (the cult) based in Silent Hill.
This incarnation also greatly resembles the film version, and is referred to as 'Bogeyman'. While protagonist Alex Sheperd crosses paths with the creature more than once, the creature doesn't seem to take much interest in him, apart from a nightmare sequence. In this game, the creature's role seems to be focused around that of an executioner, killing those who have sinned against the Order, including Alex's father, Adam.
The entity that James encounters is a delusion of his own mind, a projection of the memories he has hidden away. Although it is unclear if the energies that formed the delusion come from Valtiel/Xuchilbara, it is suggested that others in the past have seen the manifestation. This is most likely due to the common faith in the community's history. Pyramid Head himself is not sentient or self-aware.
As revealed throughout the game, Pyramid Head's appearance was a variation of the outfits of the executioners from times past, who wore red hoods and ceremonial robes to make themselves similar to the Valtiel, the angel of the town. He was born out of the towns peoples' idolatrous ideologies.[2] According to documents created for the release of Silent Hill 4: The Room, a sect of the Silent Hill cult (the "Valtiel Sect") wore the executioner's costume depicted in Silent Hill 2.
they aren't just supposed to be monsters... they're supposed to be a projection of the main character's past and their life. and they brought back pyramid head which was JAMES. unless they bring back JAMES they can't bring back PYRAMID HEAD. even if they rename him "the boogie man" as ive heard rumors of...

Theres also the idea that Pyramid Head represents guilt, so he would fit nicely into Silent Hill 5. Like, maybe he wasnt a creation of James directly, but the feeling of guilt he had, and thats just the physical manifestation of guilt in the silent hill universe.

the 1st two are the best easily, prob enjoyed the first more becuase i was so young and it was such a challenging game back then. 3 is ok, but 4 was poor IMO. Havent played origins. When is this due for release?

Yeah, Thats Joshua Shepard, Alex's (the Protaganist's) Brother. Or it could be a Manifestation of Joshua created by Alex's Mind. I bet that in the end,Alex has to kill Joshua in self defense, but then Alex finds out Joshua was killed before the entire ideal(through no fault of his own), and the person he was seeing was just created by his subconcious mind to cope with the loss of Joshua. I think that would make the most sense since his mind is screwed up from the war.
Also, I finally got the correct name for the #5 monster that looks like SH3...It's called "Closer"--The SH5 version looks like it's limbs are taped, kinda like "bondage"---this could mean yet another sexual frustration OR prisoners of war, or perhaps those taken prisoner during the war for all the wrong reasons. But we really don't know much else about Alex, but that he's a soldier in search of his brother. I hope they reveal just a little more.

the 1st two are the best easily, prob enjoyed the first more becuase i was so young and it was such a challenging game back then. 3 is ok, but 4 was poor IMO. Havent played origins. When is this due for release?

I like SH2 the most..and SH3. I don't know about this one, doesn't seem like it has the same "Silent Hill feeling" in it, and I don't like Pyramid Head returning, or at least I'd like to know for what reason he's back. And the nurses looks like the ones in the movie.. blah!

Yeah, Thats Joshua Shepard, Alex's (the Protaganist's) Brother. Or it could be a Manifestation of Joshua created by Alex's Mind. I bet that in the end,Alex has to kill Joshua in self defense, but then Alex finds out Joshua was killed before the entire ideal(through no fault of his own), and the person he was seeing was just created by his subconcious mind to cope with the loss of Joshua. I think that would make the most sense since his mind is screwed up from the war.

Also, I finally got the correct name for the #5 monster that looks like SH3...It's called "Closer"--The SH5 version looks like it's limbs are taped, kinda like "bondage"---this could mean yet another sexual frustration OR prisoners of war, or perhaps those taken prisoner during the war for all the wrong reasons. But we really don't know much else about Alex, but that he's a soldier in search of his brother. I hope they reveal just a little more.
