In regards to power generation, have you guys looked at making a Syngas generator that you could feed into a small 2 stroke mower engine for power?

Great to see that D&D are helping others along. I don't want to be a downer, but this has been a bah humbug Xmas season for me. 18 years post disability I about to hit the wall I knew that would be coming. I always thought I could see the events soon enough to take mitigating action. I didn't, and I'm in danger of loosing my property & the bit of independence it can bring. I'll live, but it's going to be hard to call it living. A safe 2012 to all.

I would say more humanitarian and I would really like India : ). I am rural also in Wisconsin and my small house/super shed I have been working on for the last year has been a bit of a magnet to the zoning authorities stating all the things it can't be and that it needs to be farther from the road. It is not close to the road to begin with, so I was just curious how it is in your area. Interesting also as there has been a nudist camp and now a strip club that opened within the last few years

Hello Dan and Denise. Thank you for sharing all the very inspiring and interesting videos. I am doing some of teh things you teach like making my own solar panels and I hope to install a solar water heater soon. I just bult an electric car (videos in my chanel). I took a sentra 2004 and removed the gas engine and replaced with an electric motor, a controller and 20 deep-cycle batteries and goes for about 50 miles per charge and works great. Please tell me what you think. I live in Tampa as well.

To use solar power to heat/cook food prevents burning of fuels...but also it saves folks so much time in collecting fuel(with deforestation )with this time they can read and learn(or first learn to read)about solar power too and be more self sufficient. It can snowball up/play it forward. Heating water so its safe to drink has the same effect/how much time is loss dealing with ones(or an others)sickness's.The times savings is awesome if you think about it Keep up the great work!!! I also have a small business that I started about a year ago. I worked in the bicycle industry for many years and took my own ideas to fruition. I manufacture a small line of carbon fiber bicycle components in my workshop and sell them all over the world. I strongly recommend that all americans do something similar. So many people are like your neighbor who's about to lose his house and are turning to tiny houses as an option but if one could be OFF-GRID capable, so much better.

I hung a black garbage bag as an experiment between my glass storm door and front door to try for some passive solar heat buffer and it works like a charm. When the sun is up its warmer between the doors than it is in the house. I'm looking for some flat aluminium sheet to paint black for better heat exchange than plastic. It stays about 75 degrees in there even when it's 20 outside and 65 in the house.
