@brdbarreira He was talking about the 2007 ranking. They won the world championships that year. They were rank #1 in 2007 and the Olympic Trails were before the 2008 Olympics.

The Olympic Trials have just become pointless and unexciting. Before the trials everyone knew Shawn and Nastia would be named to the team.

@animalgrlz257 they know because at Olympic trials, the top two gymnast are selected. The scores are posted, and everyone knows who the top two are.

the top 2 gymnasts during the trials automatically get a place in the team

the rest are invited to the USA gymnastics camp for more trials and stuff, and then the team was determined
