if the ipod touch is connected to the screen via 30 pin--hdmi cable how can then the ipod be connected to the car stereo with 30pin --usb coonnection?so the only audio from the ipod to the car could be transsfered through 3.5mm jack???
So Flick Tunes starts in Portrait mode, then rotates to landscape. Pandora is portrait for half the demo until you switch it to landscape. Tune-In Radio = Portrait only.
Consistent portrait mode for a landscape car setup? This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Fine, accident or even death because the operator is always busy trying to switch from portrait to landscape. You keep saying: "it's pretty cool". Granted it's a step in the right direction, but no it's not cool. It's a flawed gimmick.
Does this monitor have a capacitive or resistant screen? I currently have a Nav deck, and I think its wonderful, but I'm not too happy with the resistant touch screen. This however is very appealing to me.
I see accidents (and lawsuits) waiting to happen . . . do you really think that drivers aren't going to be playing with this, watching YT videos, checking their facebook page, etc. while driving? I hope y'all have some good lawyers . . .
I think this is awesome. The one problem I see with it is that most carriers are doing away with or have already done away with unlimited data plans. Since GPS, audio and all internet apps would use a 3G internet connection you would rack up quite a bill if you used this everyday with data intense apps. I think you guys are really on to something here. You should get OEMs on board to use this for backseat entertainment. Hulu TV in the back seat FTW. Also do you ship to Japan?
@mp3carcom "Apple doesn't care. They have no liability here."
Yes they do. They aren't making any money on this 3rd party accessory. Luckily you have to JB in order to do this otherwise they would be forced to block it for legal reasons. Either way I can see them blocking it anyway simply so no one else can make money off their money printer.
ok... looks very nice... my question and i bet the question of all car audio enthusiasts... Whats are its output capabilities?... does it comes with low power RCA front back and subw pre-amp outputs?... whats the voltage of the high power output?... can i somehow equalize it?... i mean its a great idea and i would love to have one... if it can be fitted instead of my current multimedia unit...
@javizfk So the unit is for transmitting touch to the screen. The "Dash" is just the touchscreen outiftted into a custom dash kit for your car. So you can use whatever audio you want. Audio is separate here. You can use the iPhone's head phone jack, or you can use the digital audio from the dock. And use any amp, with or without a pre amp as you like. I use a $150 amp in mine and I love it. But im not an audiphile
The housing for the screen looks shoddy. I don't know who did the molding for the bezel, but I would definitely not use this in my car, since it would depreciate the value of the vehicle the moment I install something like this. Why create a peripheral when you guys don't have a dedicated app to run music, GPS, and radio? If you're going to spend the time to create something like this, at least hire a coder to make it work right.
@neoncyte You can use any bezel, screen, or hardware you want. Mimics is universal hardware All were doing is allowing you to control the phone from a touchsreen. And you can easily put the factory dash back in, In my car it takes just a few seconds.
lol right when i buy a dell streak and tear apart my dash....damnit, this is an awesome idea. i would love to dock my phone and use the interface on a 7" display. Android support would be awesome, our we going to have to root our devices for this??
@HellSassa69 - Yep. And honestly, if this were a "real solution" android support would be built in. We all know people with ipones don't drive cars. They have skate boards and their moms take them everywhere.
finally, been waiting for this for years. some questions: can you deactivate the landscape mode in iphone home screen when not connected? (it's a cydia app right?) also how do you do FM AM ?
@cracker36 There is an app called TuneFM that will allow you do that. Its all internet streamed radio. SBRotator is what is used to rotate the home screen, right now I don't know of a way to have it only flip the screen while mimics is on. Will def. look into this.

The new version of DisplayOut now allows to adjust the screen to full screen. You will find the adjustments in the DispalyOut options.

Hey I'm just curious how you scale to full screen, when I try using displayout I am stuck with two black side bars of the screen.

@mp3carcom This would work great in Japan since there are no data limits on data plans here.
