I must say the game is not bad, but the mistery from the original has been spoiled. The AI is shit, though the graphics still look awesome until today, if we compare the original fear to fear 2 the AI is the first thing that comes to my mind, where enemies were able to ambush you, on fear 2 that doesnt happen, enemies are dumb and weaker. If fear 1 hadn't had the slow mow effect many kids would be crying for the difficulty of the same, anyway fear 1 was chellenging

Fear 2 didnt scare me at all. Fear 2 is mediocre in my opinion. First Encounter Assaut Recon (The First F.E.A.R) is way better. Fear scared the hell out of me. Fear had amazing graphics in its day, and fear 2 multiplayer was generally shit in my opinion. In fear one me and my clan we competitive and we had loads of fun in multiplayer.
Fear 2 just isnt a true sequel, and I dont think fear 3 will be as well.
If you've played the first game you wouldn't have voted "dislike" for this review. FEAR 2 was quite a disapointment with a few good moments scattered within.

I think the issue here is that firstly; the first one was too awesome to compare with and secondly; the reviewer is simply not sadistic enough to truly enjoy those moments of blood and heads and other things flying around.
The negative things that the reviewer mentions might be somewhat true, but there is much awesomeness packed into other aspects of the game, so I wouldn't agree with the review. IMO I loved it. Even the ending. :)

the first fear's environment was an abomination to my eyes. fear 2 improved on that. at the cost of fear 1's intense gory (bodies could rip apart, heads go flying, blood spatters the wall. you probably left behind more gruesome dead people than alma! in fear 1)

I don't agree with the review here, I HATED the first F.E.A.R. with its many bugs and glitches, cliched characters, and the sense of "you're alone" was pushed to far. the graphics were great back when it first released but most of the area's are the same backgrounds and ect. multiplayer in the first game felt broken and unbalanced but I had my share of scares. The problem with most people who review a game is that the people listen to them think that since the reviewer says it's bad, it must be.
These guys according to the text review gave it a lower rating because it was TOO SCARY? and because they apparently think it's a copy of another game... Gamespot is pathetic.
People should take reviews that seriously...after all...what exactly is it about these guys makes you think they know the game any better than you? The only reason I watch them is to give me an idea of what to expect. But at the end of the day...what are these reviews? It's just one guy's opinion.
The sad part is that that "one guy's" opinion is probably influenced by who's giving them the most money or who paid for the most advertisement.

@Czar- I liked it. The original F.E.A.R. was wonderful in that sense, especially after playing Doom 3 as much as I did. There was this subtle edge to it, in stark contrast to the monster closets everywhere. PO kinda lost a lot of that, unfortunately, but the neat thing is that there's *randomization,* and that's all I'm going to say :)

gamespot 'tard is wrong about multiplayer. other than Mechanized Front, theres this game type called Blitz. its basically speed CTF on a close quarters map.
but the singleplayer isnt as scary as the original FEAR because Alma is already known to fuck shit up wherever she goes. dont get me wrong though, the intense slowmo gunplay/ mech riots are loads of fun, but the game lacks that "awesomeness" found in the original FEAR.

I totally agree that the first game is better! In every single aspect the first game is better. It did have better shootouts, better storyline, more misterious, I even liked the environments better than the 'more varied' environments from the second part. On top of this are the mech parts, they are just plain crap and don't add anything to the game and only takes you out of the little creepiness it has. And why are there mechs scattered through the city anyways and so on. I could go on forever.

This guy didn't play FEAR 2, he's just making claims he did. If he had he'd know the game is balls to the wall in every way FEAR was, it's fun, and the game is more varied and consistent then the original. Especially with telling a story this time around.
The original holds more weight with me due to what it was, and how fresh it was at the time, but in terms of a action packed FPS experience that will scare you in more then one good way, FEAR 2 is a game worth owning.

I suggest Gamespot that you get someone who isnt a mindless twat to do your reveiws for you, fear 1 was a mediocre shooter and the scary parts were far too predictable, fear 2 gives us more variety of enemys than the first one did and the scay scenes were much better given the new graphics. obviously im not the only one who thinks this due to the rateing this video has. /palm

the first fear's environment was an abomination to my eyes. fear 2 improved on that. at the cost of fear 1's intense gory (bodies could rip apart, heads go flying, blood spatters the wall. you probably left behind more gruesome dead people than alma! in fear 1)
but the environment. fear 2 improved SO MUCH on that, and i guess that makes up for the lost gunplay.

I don't agree with the review here, I HATED the first F.E.A.R. with its many bugs and glitches, cliched characters, and the sense of "you're alone" was pushed to far. the graphics were great back when it first released but most of the area's are the same backgrounds and ect. multiplayer in the first game felt broken and unbalanced but I had my share of scares. The problem with most people who review a game is that the people listen to them think that since the reviewer says it's bad, it must be.

People should take reviews that seriously...after all...what exactly is it about these guys makes you think they know the game any better than you? The only reason I watch them is to give me an idea of what to expect. But at the end of the day...what are these reviews? It's just one guy's opinion.
The sad part is that that "one guy's" opinion is probably influenced by who's giving them the most money or who paid for the most advertisement.

I think people should judge games for themselves and not even bother visiting these review sites, as they just talk utter bullshit and are mainly in it for the money. Gamespot nearly allways says the opposite thing to IGN (in all the reviews, at least 1 thing is said to be the opposite). And also, there is a lack of good reviewers who know what they are actually doing in a game (this guy has obviously not played this for more than 15 mins at least).

@Czar- I liked it. The original F.E.A.R. was wonderful in that sense, especially after playing Doom 3 as much as I did. There was this subtle edge to it, in stark contrast to the monster closets everywhere. PO kinda lost a lot of that, unfortunately, but the neat thing is that there's *randomization,* and that's all I'm going to say :)

my question is, will it scare me, i was looking for a good game that wouldnt let me sleep for weeks. i was hoping dead space might do it, it was a good game, it truly was, but it didnt scare me. will this game be scary? i never played the first, so i dont know. plz dont yell at me beeing all,"dead space was scary as fuck" obviously i have lost that feeling for it. let me knoe ur opinions and if its worth buying, i dont what to end up with another FPS that is only a good shooter but nothing else.

gamespot 'tard is wrong about multiplayer. other than Mechanized Front, theres this game type called Blitz. its basically speed CTF on a close quarters map.
but the singleplayer isnt as scary as the original FEAR because Alma is already known to fuck shit up wherever she goes. dont get me wrong though, the intense slowmo gunplay/ mech riots are loads of fun, but the game lacks that "awesomeness" found in the original FEAR.
strong gameplay, weak singleplayer, fun multiplayer. better on pc

I really don't give a shit what game sites say, it's nothing but bullshit. cause if you look at Xplay and their review of Gears of War and Turok, you'll noticed they gave Turok a 3/5 and complained through out most of the review about the lack of auto-aim. and yet they gave Gears of War a 5/5 and it didn't have auto-aim either! and also in their review for Killzone 2, that game didn't have auto-aim as well, and they mentioned that the controls would take bit longer to respond, but gave it 5/5

I totally agree that the first game is better! In every single aspect the first game is better. It did have better shootouts, better storyline, more misterious, I even liked the environments better than the 'more varied' environments from the second part. On top of this are the mech parts, they are just plain crap and don't add anything to the game and only takes you out of the little creepiness it has. And why are there mechs scattered through the city anyways and so on. I could go on forever.

people are far too harsh on gamespot. i just wrapped up my video review last night, search for imtylerdurden99, and i was utterly shocked to see how many similarities my review had in common with gamespot. this is the most accurate review out of any of the official sites. im a die hard monolith fan and a huge fan of the first fear, but fear 2 was a rather big letdown. sure, its a straightforward and decent fps, but not as remarkable or memorable as the original. check out my video review

I'll say here and now-
This guy didn't play FEAR 2, he's just making claims he did. If he had he'd know the game is balls to the wall in every way FEAR was, it's fun, and the game is more varied and consistent then the original. Especially with telling a story this time around.
The original holds more weight with me due to what it was, and how fresh it was at the time, but in terms of a action packed FPS experience that will scare you in more then one good way, FEAR 2 is a game worth owning.
