  • HI i have a question my mechanic put the transmission oil where the yellow dipstick was does it matter that he places in from there ? Acura cl type S 2001.

  • Hi, I have a question, do the last 3 quarts is what u keep right? You use 6 quarts to flush- 2 flushes of 3 quarts each? Thanks

  • Hey thanks for this video ! There's not enough love for Cl - s

  • You should have jacked the car up on the other side so gravity would help drain as much fluid as possible.

  • Jetta is right, be sure to jack up the car on the other side to get that last 1/8 of a quart of fluid out...lol

  • @jettaracer56 hey guys i wonder if any of you can help me, im working on this car i bought it cras, now my question is, does the tranny for this car have radiator hose? meaning does the radiator plug in to the tranny and where in the tranny does it go plugged in? because i bought a radiator for a v6 accord everything fits but i have 2 hoses coming from the radiator and i wonder if all i need is seal them bcz i dont see where in the tranny they plug in. paisa1117@hotmail.com thank you!

  • How often should I change the fluid? I just bought an 02 TL (154,000 miles) and the fluid is low and kind of dirty. Should I change the all of the fluid or just do the 3 quart process? What are your thoughts on Lucas transmission fix?

  • @americannegr0 - I love lucas products but transmission fix is a big no-no unless you know your tranny is almost shot and it's a last ditch effort. Most transmission additives cause foaming and then dry the seals due to the detergents in them. Best thing to do is buy 9 quarts of Honda transmission fluid and do a 3 quart replacement once. Drive the car for 20 minutes hitting all 5 gears then do another 3 quart change, repeat the 20 minute drive then replace the last 3 quarts.

  • @pits200 I replaced the fluid and now the car doesnt drive at all. Is that a comon problem? I used 3 quarts of Z1 and now I cant even get the car back on the driveway. The transmission was in bad shape but it was driveable.

  • @americannegr0 don't seem that upset =/

  • What size is that washer?

  • are these the same steps for a 2001 cl premium auto?

  • @pits200

are these the same steps for a 1999 3.0 CL?

  • Thank you so much. Jus got my CL and too much oil is in it so this will def help me. since i gotta drain some out.

    Much appreciated

  • good vid. no uhhhssss and uummmmssss. thanks for posting.

  • Very helpful video.......I own a 2001 3.2cl and Im thinking about changing the transmission fluid hoping to extend the life of the transmission......I heard from several people that if your trans fluid gets low you should add extra fluid through the dip stick port but never change it bcuz it will soon cause the transmission to fail due to the poorly built transmission........what is your opinion about this?

  • @BossAriCh1187

The people who have informed you about changing the fluid needed to provide you a little more info. They most likely are talking about a transmission flush which is meant to replace all 9 quarts of fluid using a machine and high pressure to flush the system. Now that is a bad idea if you have an older transmission because the high pressure can cause damage to the seals.

Stick with the 3 quart replacement method for best results. Good luck

  • @pits200 i will try it thanks for your help! I thinks it time for me to change the fluid I have never done anything to the tranny since it was installed to replace a failed tranny. It was put into the CL around 90,000 miles and now has about 160,000 miles so I think it is time for a fluid change to prevent any problems.

  • great vid very helpful

  • Ya, it's definitely a tranny filter. I changed it a few weeks ago before I thought about making a video on how to change the transmission fluid. But trust me, even if the dealership tells you there isn't one, they are wrong. It's definitely a transmission filter.

  • Are you sure that it is a tranny filter. I thought honda did not have a filter for tranny. If yes why did you not replace the tranny filter.
