  • Ok so clearly geared to fail. I love this computer but it seems like its rigged to fail. The day after my 1 year warranty was over my battery died for no reason as I take the BEST care of my laptop. Then went the screen. Mine still works but has to be pushed all the way back as far as it will go. I will go and get a quote and see how much the labour to fix it will be but I would love to save some $ and buy the cable online. Does anyone know what it is called, or what I should search for?

  • @SammieSea

It is absolutely geared to fail. I had the same thing happen to my battery, where it just wouldn't charge. I tried everything. Eventually, it just randomly started to work again. The computer just gets progressively worse. Around the time I was about to stop using it, I remember it crashing (literally just shutting itself off and not restarting) four times while I was trying to finish a paper. It's not worth the grief. Get a new one if at all possible.

  • Coincidence that this is the same model as my computer and about 30+ videos out their with the same model? I think not. I'm sure the warranty ended right before this happened too, it did for me. Fucking HP

  • Man the handymen at the repair shops in my area all say the screen cable cost $50 to order. Believe me they are RIPPING YOU OFF! Just go on ebay and search for your laptop's screen cables they're like $9-$15. I learned those technicians are swindlers!

If you need a technician to fix the problem, just order the cable at ebay or other sites and bring that cable to the technician then you will save around $50-$80.

  • @YoNevNo

Yeah, they were, but we didn't know anything about it at the time. I'm not even going to mess with it anymore. I'm getting another computer.

  • When you took it to get it repaired did they tell you the specific name of the cable? Is it just visual cable? Yours is the first one I've seen that does exactly what mine does.

  • @krissybinks The specific model you need is probably the DD0QTBLC110 you can find it on ebay for about $15 bucks - $25 with shipping

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • i have the same laptop...but my screen just stays black when trying to turn it on, i would have to turn it on and off several times just to get it up...so could it also be the same problem or something else??

  • @inkredyble

Maybe. Have a professional look at it.

  • Does anyone know how to fix the screen, because I have the same laptop as shown in the video but the problem is that it's not flickering, the screen just stays completly white from the begining I turn it on. I know that it's not broken because I can hear the start up sound but the screen is still white.

  • @dominator756

It's probably the same issue because I've been beginning to experience the same issue you have recently and I've already had it repaired once. Like I said, it's a poor design, so it's probably due to the screen cable.

  • @accountnumber90 yeah, you are so right. It took me about 50 minutes to repair my laptop. The design is really horrible, and I figured what the problem was, but I was unable to fix it. Now I have to buy a new monitor to use my laptop.

  • @dominator756

I'll probably end up having to get a new laptop in a few months myself.

  • My uncle repeared mine (: the connection between the screeen and the processer was loose. It works perfect now (:!

  • I opened the my notebook, and all I did was adjust the display cables with the connector on the motherboard and it worked. this notebook has a design error that causes the cable to stretch a lot and make false contact. That makes the screen flicker. if not afraid to open your own notebook may be a good solution but be careful!

  • @ILZion I will try.

My problem was just flickering but now it's going worst.

    Backlight switch off!

The monitor it is still on but without back light.

If I send it to HP it will cost from 250€, even if I have an extention of warranty that cover the 70% of repair, I would like to try myself.

    It's faster and cheaper.

In your opinion, is it the display cables strechted a lot my problem?

  • Simple, thx for the information. I'll go fix mine since I'm actually a computer Technician, but finding the cable is a problem.

  • @DracomancerFilip

So I've heard. You may be able to find one on ebay

  • For solve this problem I must buy screen and cable, or only cable??

  • @IKOTOMAS1

Technically, you don't have to buy a new screen, but most vendors will not sell the screen and the cable separately, so there's a possibility you'll have to buy a new screen as well.

  • Please can you tell me how can I open the screen bezel? there are not any screws on it...Sorry for my English

  • @IKOTOMAS1

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know because I had the computer repaired for me. You may be able to find that information online, but it might be best to take it into a computer shop.

  • @IKOTOMAS1 There are two screws in each corner at the bottom of the bezel. Undo these four screws then start prying it open. I started from the bottom and worked around with a butter knife. It takes a suprising amount of force. As for fixing the flicker, I didn't replace anything. there was a little bit of wire hanging out of the ribbon right at the hing. These wires are horting against the metal frame. putting a little piece of athletic tape over the wires fixed everything.

  • Gratz make i also got Pavilion dv4 (same yours ) and i got the same problem , some ppl say its from motherboard (my body shaked) and some people say from the screen (i felt little afraid) :) but the bad thing i left it long ago without fixes , and it be worst and worst till its dead , i mean the Screen gives White weird thing like there water (i never put water) im sure , anyways ill try your fixes
