Strat: good for blues country and smooth clean rock. Tele: good for country. Les Paul good for hard rock and smooth rock. PRS: good for paperweight!!!!!!!!!
These guitar vs guitar vids are interesting, but really not conclusive. It all depends on the voicing and effects desired. I've heard David Gilmore use both a strat and a LP on Comfortably Numb and Shine on you crazy Diamond, and the strat sounds far better and more versatile for the sound he's aiming to achieve. Just one example...
I like the way you do your comparisons, but as a relative novice to electrics, I wish that comparisons like this showed the headstock better, at least at at the beginning, so it's easier to tell which is which, especially when the bodies are similar in style.
hey, if you're still an amateur why all those guitars! LMAAAO
I have the same problem, amateur and 3 guitars, but hold up, all my gtrs are cheap LOL, and my strat is fucked up, reeeaaally fucked up, it doesn't even get a sound, i messed wrong with the electronics :P[no problem, it was crappy]
My vote is the STRAT!!! Eric Johnson, Hendrix, Clapton, Jeff Beck, etc etc... LP sound is ok but, not balanced feel when U gotta stand with a strap on for a long time. But then again, I want them all ! LOL!!
you used an LP against an PRS SE custom. PRS SE range is cheap as chips, throw an actually PRS custom 22 in there and it will blow them all out of the water
I think you played the strats and the tele too much and you didn't play the prs and lp enough for me to compare plus your playing with distortion so they all sounds almost the same. I like the video though!
It's hard to tell the difference if you play the same thing with the same settings on different guitars. The Tele twang didn't come through at all, and the ripping fat LP blues didn't come through. Thanks for the effort though.
I find it funny that all the guitars here other than the PRS are well over $1000, where the PRS is around $400-$500. It still held up though. Imagine if he had used a PRS CU24.
i like the prs best...stronger pickups---> kinda rocking sound in difference to the singlecoil guitars! and i am not a fan of gibsons....in the end you never know what quality you get and for my taste it sounded a bit too trebly!
Comparing a Les Paul and a Tele is like apples and oranges. All of these guitars sounded pretty great, but I've always been a strat guy. I like the first strat, then the tele
depends what music i mean a tele is better for the faster paced bluesy stuff because of its sharper tone whereas the strat is more suited to the slower more melodic blues with more fepth and feeling. and a les paul is for really deep stuff with those hummers on it.
Not a fair comparison, the 52 Tele should have been used, and the Les Paul Standard w/ stock burstbucker PUP'S. I don't know about the Strats so can't say. But in the end there is no winner. They are all great G's that fill diferen't needs.
Well, the PRS has got the crunchiest tone of all of them. So I would judge the PRS as the best. However, I am owner of a LP, must say that till I save some money on a new PRS, Epi LP is the best choice I could have made.
I honestly think the fender strat sounded best.. But set up also plays a factor.. I personally am a fender man but when i hear a gibson les paul i feel that they have a heavier thicker sound. But the sound here was a little different..
where did I say the tele was bad? i like the tele in fact i was just playing one a couple minutes ago. It's just a 1959 les paul is considered the holy grail of guitars and that's what he played on most his live performances and later albums.
SEs aren't crap. i've owned an SE before and i can tell u it made even a cheap amp sound sweet in any setting. of course u cant compare the SE to a CE but they are still quality instruments with way better qc than gibson's china factory
i would say les paul because jimmy page and slash both play them. you dont rly want the tele for gnr or acdc because the single coil pickups wnt get you the tone that yer looking for. humbuckers are the way to go. i prefer the les paul to the sg but they are both rly good guitars.
page only used a tele on zeppelin I and on the stairway solo. for everything else he used a les paul and angus young and slash always played gibsons. i would always pick a gibson over a fender.
thats your opinion, doesn't mean its right?, i personally, much prefer fender guitars, new gibsons are rubbish, and i hate slash, his playing's okay, but guns and roses suck balls!
amen man gnr are fucking shite. but if you want to play led zeppelin, acdc and gnr the best guitar to buy would be a gibson because thats wut all of them played. even tho page played a tele for a few years. and i have a newer gibson. the custom shop 1958 reissue and it is far from rubbish
yeh, if you wanna sound exactly like led zeppelin, then buy a les paul, but why would you? its about playing what suits you, everything sounds just as good when played on a decent strat. theres no point buying a guitar just cos jimmy page plays it.
gibson lp customs are 100000x better than the standard, u gotta admit the modern lp and sg standards kinda suck....
@Johngtr13 I agree. These examples, as fun as the playing is, don't really exploit any legitimate differences in the guitars. I'd like to see a test of these five guitars that involves tone and pickup settings.
I have to agree with Edgarsterling I to am a tele guy . the les paul is the better sounding of all the clips presented. but also it is all preferance. thanks for the vid.
I'm a 100% PRS fan...but as far as this video goes the Tele sounds GREAT. I own a Gibson Les Paul Studio, PRS McCarty Soapbar, PRS Tremonti Signature, and a few others and it's honestly hard to compare all of them because they all have they're own distinct characteristics. Overall however PRS takes the cake for tone, craftsmanship and versatility. GO PRS!!
Les Paul & PRS are the standard loud Humbuckers, my favorite is the 3th Strat that sonds good. Tele is better for clean stuff i think. I want some Hss Strat i love this tone. actually i play Ibanez and SG.
each from those guitars has their own style, their does and dont's. wish you would all know these guitars are all made for their own style. but thats nots the question. Give me the strat and tele: i love them, after that my SG, ES339 and Martin Dx1 :)
You should rename this video "A bunch of great guitars VS. a sub par amp. I would love to see you do this again on something that isn't a solid state. Full tube with Pre to 10, volume to 7 and everything else at 12 o'clock.
well iv got the les paul, im getting a strat, but i want to no wich to get a tele or a prs and by the sounds of that and what i like playing the tele is winning. (and there cheeper).
That my good man depends on your taste. True Tele tone comes from a well made Telecaster no doubt but as far as versatility goes I would end up going with the 24 from PRS. Both are amazing guitars and honestly you can pull off some good tele tones from the PRS. The full tele can only be experienced through a Fender Telecaster or a G N L Asat Tele.
Hey dude great playing but sound quality made it so i really cudnt tell the full tones of each guitar, if you post anymore videos like this please let me know. My only other problem is, are you using the bridge pickup for each? and these are all really different guitars, u shud use the standard for each company, fend american strat, gibson les paul studio, and still the SE custom, but i really like your playing and im thinking of gettin a strat and your playing has proved strats rule!
I like gibson for the "toggle swith" that allows quick switching between volume controls- but I think the Strat has a really nice sound as well... I'm gonna go with Strat, however
Gota go with the Tele on this one...just can't beat it for this kind of playing. It definately has a "southern" accent, and I think that comes off good on blues type music.
I use to play strat only but then loved the tele for it's chimier tone(not a real word but can't explain). then I fell in love with an LP cause of it's brighter tone! LP LP LP!

ROCK ON!!

I like gibson for the "toggle swith" that allows quick switching between volume controls- but I think the Strat has a really nice sound as well... I'm gonna go with Strat, however

All the guitars on this video sound thin and too bright. Cameras are not for recording audio!

You are right - I bought the good guitars before I bought the good amps and effects. This is now rectified. Check out my more recent vids.

LP LP LP!

I love the way that Tele sounds. After that the HSS Strat, then the LP then the Strat, then the PRS.
