I Think Band of Horses's Version Is Much Better, Sorry to all the Ceelo Green fans, but band of horses's version is much more Peacefull. And thats what hits me.
on another note: Cracked brought me here and I love it, but they're two different worlds. this one's got the groove and vocal inflection, while the other one... well I prefer BOH's live over studio cuz it's raw, vocally and emotionally, like he's baring his soul to us. Like I said, two different worlds.
good thing there's some constructive comments in this thread. people gotta grow up and stop hating on how "mainstream" it sounds and just listen to the music...
Cee Lo has a great grear great voice, but the original version is still the best. Ben sings with feeling and the way they do the melody is so magical that I feel like I'm dreaming. Is perfect.
It's difficult to even compare this to the Band of Horses version, because tonally they're so different. Cee Lo does something really brilliant in the chorus where he changes two notes and the whole dynamic of the melody is changed from the original. The Band of Horses version feels smaller, more whistful, dreamier. Cee Lo's version is big, packed with a lot of strings, and it feels really sort of bittersweet and yearning. To me, it sounds like the end of a movie.
They're both good... but theyre different. Cee-lo has much more control over his voice and his melodies are more smooth and so full of soul. The band of horses version seems sorta forced to me. I prefer cee-lo's version, but i respect band of horses.
Wow. This is amazing. I love band of horse's version also. Hateful comments just make u look like an idiotic because you obviously don't know what good music is. So think about what you say!(:
@RedThunder121 I have, I prefer it to this. Only reason I know this exists is because of an article on cracked.com bashing Band of Horses and checked this out of spite, its a lazy cover.
@styxman09 I actually don't get a lazy vibe from this at all. It sounds like the arrangement, especially of the strings is actually pretty complex, and the way Cee Lo very subtly tweaks the melody shows he put some thought into how he wanted it be presented. Also, you listened to it out of spite? That makes it seem like you were expecting to dislike it, and in my experience, doing that never really ends well. Why want to dislike something, you know?
@liamjenright True, I did go into it not wanting to like it. I still didn't feel it was done justice, I liked the original for an entirely different reason to what Cee-Lo did with his. By no means is it bad. Just not my cup of tea.
Sweet. I liiiike itttt!!!

It doesn't have the charm the original does. Not bad sounding at all though, I just prefer the original.
