I got to see Phil Collins in a private concert at XM Satellite Radio in 2004. I was 12 feet from him. I was in tears when he sang In The Air Tonight on the piano. This was the best moment in my life. I will never forget his music. There are 2 artists that I like Phil Collins and Bob Seger .

The biggest problem I had with Phil Collins in the 1980's was that at times I could not distinguish him (solo) or when he was with Genesis. The music was similar regardless solo or Genesis. Good music all through.

The thing about Phil Collins is he is a musical genius. For the younger folks ....there was this group called Genesis. They were a popular progressive band. The lead singer was Peter Gabriel. They put out some really great music. But eventually Peter wanted to move out on his own. Phil, who was the groups drummer resisted becoming the lead singer. And Then There Were Three. :) The rest is history with a legacy of so much great music.

Phil really was the drummer in a band and when the lead singer left he took over (Genesis of course), and that really is Chester Thompson, the Genesis and Phil touring drummer. Clapton only played on this song, but they have backed each other up on various songs over the years.
