Wow, 1984!? The beat to this music is a few years ahead of its time. I've always thought that maybe this logo began in 1988 or something. That's very interesting! The first time I saw this logo, I was visit family in Chicago with my mom in 1993 as a little tyke when we saw Meteor Man. Thanks for the new info, I love learning about these logos.
@Adam10Rocks Thank you for these years. I had a strong inkling that the trailer was launched in the mid-1980s. That being said, I was surprised to hear that it ran until 1995, though that year corroborates with the comments of many other viewers.
@Adam10Rocks Thank you for pinning a specific year to the time frame during which this trailer was run. I have been hoping that a commenter would be able to give me a specific year at some point.
I love this policy trailer! I still sing it to my self from time to time when it's movie time at my place. Thank you for sharing!
A few thoughts:
If memory serves from my visits to the Loews Secaucus: this policy trailer ran from the late 80s to early 90s (give or take).
Loews had another policy trailer in the 80s that consisted of a series of narrated clips from motion pictures like Young Frankenstein (Frankenstein's thumb on fire for "No smoking"). If you find this you should post it :)
@mikepalomino Actually, the policy trailer w/Young Frankenstein you're thinking of came from Sony Theaters, which believe bought out Loews briefly in the 90s before someone else bought the Loews name.
@tvnutboy Ah! Thank you for clearing that up. I was fairly young at the time so that particular detail was lost on me. still it would be kind of cool to see that policy trailer again as this one alone brings back many fun memories : )
OMG!!! I so remember this!!! I also remember every time the ''SHHHHH!'' appeared on the screen everyone in the theatre would act it out...Including me. :-) Nice upload! Haven't seen this in years!
this was the first Loews trailer I can remember seeing at the Loews in Wayne (still open as an AMC), as well as in Secaucus (both theaters now gone and replaced by Kerasotes) when I was a kid. I loved that jingle. Then they replaced it with some bombastic theme where there's a red carpet premiere at one of the Loews theaters, and there's some zooming out with the searchlights forming the logo. This logo would be used in 97 until 06. Do you have that one for upload on youtube, Reed488?
Thanks so much for posting this! I was a projectionist at one of Loews' Cincinnati locations around 1990, and this totally takes me back! It got burned into my brain... I had to wait through it pretty much every show because it doesn't contain anything particularly sharp for checking focus.
classic! reminds me of my movie going experiences at the college park loews in Indianapolis. i saw a lot of good flicks there. this probably went until the early-mid 90's. then sony bought the theatre, and amc bought it back and its now called loews again. thanks for posting this! five stars
I remember this, I've seen it before the beginning of "Tummy Trouble" playing with "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" back at a theater when I was living in Vermont.
OMG...you rock for posting this. Any chance you have the one with the black and white clips from the Sony Theaters era @ Loews?? That one is my favorite...
They don't do showmanship like this anymore. Classsic.
I don't know how long it was used, but I seem to remember seeing this before "Jurassic Park" in '93. And does anyone remember the Loews feature presentation with the various clips from movie's past? That one was from the early/mid 90s.
Also, if you're looking for a year, here's a little something that might help:
At the old Loews near my house, I distinctly remember this promo coming the screen for "Ghostbusters II", in 1989. I don't, however, remember seeing it at the beginning of "Rain Man" (1988); a film I'll never forget seeing in the theater.
Don't ask why, but I remember these intros as much as the movies themselves. If I had to guess a year this became mainstream, I'd say late 1988 or 1989.
Thank you narrowing down the years so well. It does surprise me that it is from so late in the 1980s; given the animation and film quality, I would have placed the trailer as debuting circa 1984 or so.
I remember seeing this Loew's policy trailer right before "Terminator 2" started. I also remember seeing it right before "The Rocketeer" and "Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan". I love the part at the end and it's still the best policy trailer of all time!
I can't tell the exact year, but judging by the visual and musical style of the trailer, I'm tempted to put it towards the end of the '80s, from '87 onward.
this was a great policy trailer...i remember seeing my movies at the loews in wayne and the one in secaucus.
