  • Gee,over a minute to get papers out of a BOX???

  • bad news no lens

  • that is the single most thoughtful gift you've given yourself there. congrats!

  • must be nice

  • does it come with a video editing software??

  • leads leads and fricin bubble wrap SHOW ME THE CAMERA!!!!!!

    !!!!!!

  • Just collected mine today, but I unpacked it differently. Went straight for the camera. LOL

  • im in the market for this type of camera but i like the nikon d5000

  • That's an entirely different end of the DLSR market. This is a high-end model, the D5000 is more consumer targeted.

  • i gathered when i saw the price of this. way to advanced for me just a DSLR with simple point functions is sort of the area im looking for i don't want be messing around with features that i don't no too much about at the moment

  • The D5000 is not in the same market as the 5D MKII.

  • hows the black dot issue?

  • Theres a firmware to fix it. v1.07

  • Why is everyone so excited about the video mode? really its a DSLR, POintless I dont get it. Is that why these are not in stock anywhere cause everyone wants a video camera????

  • Exactly. Canon should make one without the movie mode for it to be cheaper but I know they wouldn't want to have two of them. I would have bought it already if it were a bit cheaper.

  • Take this, we are advancing in the future, why NOT put video? it'll be easier for you guys to take video shots, while still taking pics, you get a picture, and a GOOD decent video together, making it price worthy, would you like carrying a digital camera and a camera? pointless for that, its good, but now so it won't get in the way, you have two things in one, so you can quickly take a picutre, and quickly take video.

  • Well, for the price, you get a 1080p HIDEF video camera that allows you to film with different lenses and use selective focus. Actually video cameras that do that, are muuuuch more expensive.

  • @RockinMarcus85

DSLR Filmmaking is the new thing, it will soon replace video camcorders. This camera is being used to film the next season of HBO's true blood.

  • @RockinMarcus85 Because one thing is that the 5D Mark II has a full frame sensor so you get shallow depth of field like a movie effect, variety of lenses to switch whereas video cameras have built in ones, you can change ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed, it isn't SO HUGE AND FAT!

  • @RockinMarcus85 You do realize an episode of House MD was shot on one of these right? Why is video pointless on DSLRs anyways? The image sensor is really huge compared to similarly priced camcorders, and the images look amazing if you know how to shoot properly.

That said, it's only video for experienced film makers and such, not for filming your moms wedding, or a birthday party.

  • @LooperNor Well actually it was a whole season of House.

  • @dogeatme Really? Got any sources on that, because I'm quite certain it was only one episode.

  • @LooperNor My mistake. Misread 'season finale'. I thought it meant the final season but it actually means the seasons final ep.

  • AHH I wan this Camera. To expensive though, probably going for the 50D

  • YOU CAN'T COMPARE A 50D WITH A 5D :S

  • I said I want this camera, never said I was getting one

  • is it possible to compare the 5D2 with a 1Ds Mk3? :P

  • ugh how do you get the money!

    :D awesome camera!

  • Oh you very lucky bastard, Canon found a solution to fix the blackdot problem by a new firmware update, now they found a solution i gotta get two to upgrade my cameras.

  • v nice, v tempting

  • ive always loved the canon straps. I love the nikon d series but im a canon guy.

  • And also to see it clearly zoom it at maximum magnification in your PC monitor you start to see it from there, hopefully yours not affected.

  • Hey dude have you heard about the black dot appearing when shooting higher ISO at night? Test it if your camera is affected with this problem. Test it at 400 to 6400 it appears particularly at city lights shooting at this ISO's.

  • Unboxing vids rule! Thanks for sharing you lucky sob! =)

  • we all know the learning curve about photography thats why we are aiming at a professional level like the 5d m2 and we all know its better way better than the d90,canon 5d m2 not cheap yeah, but you get what you pay for i can probably use my 5d m2 for many years to come not like d90 it will be replaced in six months or a year and we all know you just waste your money on the d90.

  • Better then D700.Much Much Much better.

  • Very Very Very Nice !

  • Its 24mp dude.

  • its 21.1 mp

  • I ENVY YOU MOTHERFUCKER! hahaah...god i cant waite...hope you like it dude..let me know how its treating you...if your sick of it ill buy it for 2300 hahahah

  • Finally!

Thanks for posting this vid, and it would be great if you could let us all know how you are liking your new toy

  • *Crying*

  • but if you dont use a built in flash do you still use an external one? the thing is that ive never had a dslr camera and i am thinking of buying this one cuz of the video mode but the only thing that is turning me away from it is the lack of the flash. do you recommend the nikon d90 or if i can pay for the canon, should i get the mark II ?

  • by looking at your previous questions about dslrs, it'd be a safer, and better bet to go with a nikon d90. although it's not a professional camera, it is definitely a more cost-effective camera to start your learning curve. external flashes are of great necessity in capturing unique pictures, but sometimes is not necessary. if you aren't shooting professionally, it definitely makes sense to save about $1500 and to go with the d90

  • Thanks for the advice. I thought about that too. It will be my first dslr but the thing that attracts me so much towards the Mark II is the how well it captures video and the external mic option. The video capture on the d90 is good but not great. What do you think about the d-movie mode on the d90?

    I don't know. I'm still confused. I'm really bad at making decision..lol.

  • just know this: buying a big ticket item is an investment. if you don't use your camera as much as you really want, it depreciates over time. kind of like buying a car. for my price point, the 5d mark ii is out of my reach

  • thats a good way to look at it. I'm not a pro or anything but I'm studying at a film school and I just thought that by buying this camera now it would save me some money in the future, b/c of the whole video feature. But I dunno, after reading your comments the d90 seems a little more attractive.

  • that camera looks amazing. how do you feel about the fact that it doesnt have a built in flash unit? do you really need to have a flash to take good pictures on a dslr?

  • lol

  • i dont get it ????

  • I also have a Canon 30d with a built in flash and have never used it. If you want a good picture, you're going to use a real flash.

  • on camera flash just ruins pictures, 430ex for around $200 is worth it!

  • MUCH better pictures then body look.

Same Image quality as NIKON D3X.
