You are very brave committing this to us. I wait until it is all over making the video before posting...... Or maybe that is what you have done. Did you video this last July?
very cool, i look forward to the rest of the series. i'd skip the foam idea though. you can always stuff a tshirt or newspaper in there if you want to avoid feedback. anyhow, good luck!
That's true. I was thinking it would be easier to fill the cavity while still under construction. Am I right in assuming it would cut down on feedback? What about the cutaway idea?
i've never really had problems with feedback. i suppose you'd have to be standing pretty near the speakers for it to happen. another reason to skip the foam is you wouldn't be able to fix any problems with the pickup if everything was locked up in there. i'm not a fan of the cutaway look, but it looks like a fun mod. i know you'd make use of the cutaway based on your solos.
I do have problems with feedback. We're pretty cramped on stage and my amp is usually right behind me. It's the worst possible place, but it's the only way I can hear myself in a sea of guitars. And I will be using the cutaway.
Looks like a great project, RJ.

No, this is live I'm afraid. If I screw it up, the whole world will know about it. Is that brave or foolish?

Good luck Nigel! I envy people who can make stuff. I can hardly drive a nail into the wall to hang a painting...

Good luck Nigel! Sounds like a fun project. I'm not sure about the filling it with foam idea but it could work.
