  • lol that guy in the top comments thinks hes intentionally double clutching to go faster. What a fag.

  • is this DK?

  • Its neither here nor there if a bloody skyline or a escort or anything is so called faster in anyway, the McLaren F1 is simply one of the most advanced and fastest cars of all time.. EVER...

The engine is a master piece NO TURBO needed!! Just sweet sweet atmo BMW V12 goodness, Although Gordon Murray did actually want a Honda built V12 but the Japs wouldn't build it for him..

  • @MMProductionsinc

At the time Honda delivered engines to the McLaren Formula 1 team, and they won 8 titles in 4 seasons (1988-1989-1990-1991) with them, so it made sense.

Some say the reason Honda didn't want to build the engine for the F1 is because they didn't like the idea that it wouldn't be a Honda car (like the NSX which Gordon Murray himself respects a lot)

GordonMurray did however also have experience with BMW in Formula 1 in his Brabham days (the 1983 champion car)

  • ..this track is way to small and tight for the F1 to stretch its legs..don't mention skylines in the same breath as the McDaddy. Show some fucking respect kids.

  • He isn't double de-clutching you 'tards, he can't get it in gear because the syncro is buggered. Good old british engineered car...

  • mines gtr r34 is faster than this.

  • cars with way less hp did it better

  • @ydox Would YOU push a car with no TCS, ABS, over 600 HP, and worth over $2 million? o_o I certainly wouldn't

  • i jsut saw a GTR35 doing this lap in 57,11s. kill me now xD

  • @SKiLL3D The GTR has AWD, this has RWD and is a harder to drive than a GTR which is like driving a video game, Ive driven a GTR and been in a McLaren F1 LM for a ride, trust me LOL

  • @Shaticks rwd is normally faster remember gtr ways 1,7 tonns. but i think gtr kills mclaren f1 in a quarter mile aswell

  • @MrBusunglueck No it doesn't just sound that easy. The GTR has a host of electronics, traction control and 4WD which is a really big advantage to going around corners. This video is from the late 90s, tires, fuel, mechanicals and technology have advanced since then. The McLaren F1 does the quarter mile in 11 secs flat, the GTR take 11.2 secs. Any further than that, the GTR would just vanish away. Look, the F1 is built for the straights and GTR is built for the corners.

  • @rvind92g so whats your point then?

  • @rvind92g the gtr was built by a few japanese for 80 grand. the f1 is a million pounds and built by an f1 raceteam

  • @Shaticks and u havent been in one of that for a ride. that cant be they arent driven any more that must have been 15 years ago and i dont think u were old enogh then because ur profile says u are 28. mclaren f1 was just good at top speed. and still gtr is more than 10% faster wich is more than just one world

  • @Shaticks Ive got a 500000000000000AU dick. Trust me LOL

  • no-one on this site would have the balls or experience to talk that much shit about drift kings driving to his face,he drives real cars that you all dream about or play on playstation...jealous trolls!

  • I'm thinking the syncro was gone for second.

  • a few seconds srrfy.

  • he's ruining all the shifts it seems. Andy Wallace took 0.3s to upshift on his record run. this guy took 0.5s and above.

if you multiply that by the number of times he shifted, (the time where the mac had absolutely no power transmitted) , it can add up to a second to the laptime alone.

  • Double de-clutching is a technique used in non-synchro gearboxes. You engage the clutch, put it into neutral, disengage the clutch, blip the throttle, engage the clutch, engage next gear and disengage clutch. People often use the term to describe a throttle blip on downshifts wich is wrong. That technique is used to prevent compression lockup wich can lock your rear wheels.

What Tsuchiya is doing here is making a meal of the gearshifts coz hes shifting with his right hand :)

  • I love reading all the criticisms from the 'pro' drivers out there. ha ha ha jealously is an ugly thing...!

  • well the time is not bad at all, because the conditions were not good(it is probably wet and oiled) and it looks like he is not driving it to the limit, because when tiff needell did so there was a lot of tire squeal and tons of understeer and here it just looks too smooth, like he is scared of destroying the car :D

  • Haha, this car has air-brakes (look at the flap that you probably mistook for the spoiler come up everytime he hits the brakes)

    =P

  • he barely hit full throttle anywhere on that circuit....beast of an engine

  • You know the car isn't fucking around when you see BLUE FLAMES at 1:17

  • if i remember rightly, it's a dogleg box, so shifting from *first to *second, would be a bit sketchy. bit like the e30 m3. 2nd and 3rd gear are inline on a dogleg to make the gear changes smoother and faster for on road driving, as they're the most used gears.

  • I think the F1 would be capable of a 1.02 lap on Tsukuba if driven to the limit. I guess the guy driving was holding back a bit (not that strange considering how rare and expensive the car is!)

  • @TheRighteous123 suspension does look soft though...

  • why does he hit the gas with his heel as he downshifts? sry if i sound stupid

  • @munkeyman90 To match the speed of the engine to the lower gear to eliminate jerky engine braking and oversteer when he releases the clutch. The technique is called Heel & Toe downshifting.

  • @nitrotrigger ahhh gotcha. thanks!

  • 1:16, real cars spit flames and look that sexy when they do it. The veyron is a tool used to eat vast quantities of road from in-front of you, this is an extension of yourself that is only as good as you, that's what makes a car really rewarding to drive. Best supercar ever built and unless Mclaren can come up with something as light, powerful and as pure, perhaps the best supercar to be built. :)

  • wow, that was bad driving. japanese drivers can be really biased sometimes.

  • @pietruski thats actually some good driving, keep in mind these things have NO power steering....

  • Look at all the haters , Hah , i bet you all can't even drive the F1 , even if you can't , a mile later you'll get into an accident .

  • driving sucks, can't get into gear.

  • ya the shifting is pathetic andy wallace takes 0.3s to shift in his record run this guy takes 1s. vroom-vroom double declutching.

  • This car has lots of body roll, I think an F50 or F40 would actually be faster around track. But still prefer the F1 :P

  • the reason why u see fast times wit other cars is cuz these guys drive cars that are normally tuned for the track, as for the mclaren, its a stock street car, fast but stock, and the mclaren isnt really designed for a small track like this....its designed more for like the Nurburgring, or a track like it.....

  • the track condition wasn't ideal at all and the car looks as if it is suffering from busted syncros making the 2nd to 3rd shift very hard and warranting double de-clutching just to ram it in. with good track conditions and no car problems, 59 sec. laps will be easy on this mac.

  • @4ageAtlantic

plus, these jap guys arent very good at driving a mac.

In the 1994 car battle video, the mc f1 vs some other jap cars like supra, the supra actually beat it off the starting line.

    LOL.

  • @ASSHOLELA

Of course it was beat it at start, because he raced a tuned Supra with 650bhp and light-weighted.

Stock Supra would lose in McLaren dust. Supra with 650bhp can accelerate 3,5 secs to 0-60 like McLaren but after that, Supra losing.

  • @2jzgtejza80

the mac does 0-60 in 3.2s. 3.5s is a pathetic mac launch.

in the race the supra beat the mac even from starting 0-60mph. it was like 2s before the supra was infront of the mac.

  • @ASSHOLELA

I know probably Jap driver miss the gear, because McLaren is not easy to drive like other manual shift cars.

  • @2jzgtejza80

yah of coz japs drive jap cars better....

  • the road is covered in moisture.

otherwise, how can you see the reflection of the headlights on the ground?

  • I think this car needs to be more stiff.

  • I don't think he misses those gears, seems to be double declutching from 2nd to 3rd every time

  • @hbwold If this driver was double declutching wouldnt that mean he would have to depress the clutch, shift to nurtral, release the clutch, re-depress the clutch, engage the next year then release the clutch again? In the video I only see the driver depress the clutch once when he makes the shift from 2nd - 3rd. I also believe that double declutching is only used for downshifts as modern synchromesh gearboxes do not require this move for upshifting.

  • @hbwold what is the point of double declutching? please forgive my ignorance!

  • @vman1320 It's to allow for smoother synchronised gear changes. Looking at this video again since my original comment, I don't think he is double declutching as he only depresses the clutch once during a shift. If he was double declutching then he would release the clutch in neutral between 2nd and 3rd gears so depressing the clutch twice during one gear change. As @Ghostca said a few months ago.

  • @hbwold tight track with tall road gearing maybe?

  • @Paulrallye Yes possibly. Guess this car has the standard road car ratio's meaning it's geared to do 231mph, which doesn't help on a track like Tsukuba.

  • @hbwold i don't think so, look at his left foot, he's not double declutching... It just looks like getting into third gear is tricky...

  • @hbwold Why would you double clutch on an upshift? You only need to double-clutch on a down shift only if your tranny isn't syncing.

  • @hbwold And if he's double-clutching, he's doing it wrong... you need to let off the clutch when you rev it to rev the transmission's layshaft. He doesn't let off the clutch.

  • @hbwold Why would one do that? It seems to be slower than normal shifting.

  • Wells miss shifting 3 times is a problem. But the biggest problem though, is how he brakes. He brakes bloody early in the run and he knows it as you can see him lifting off the brakes before every corner cz he braked way too early.

  • @Douglas6250 He is not missing gears he is Double Declutching, a common racing technique... I am guessing but I think in this situation he is doing it because the McLaren has such a long gear ratio he feels he needs to get the revs up before going to the next gear.

  • He sucked.

  • I did an 1:02.80 a few years back in a stock f1. Thatw as with a full tank and worn tires in bad conditions. So this really isn't that impressive. He turns in quitte early. However, he's got on the gas. I'll post the vid of me doing this asap

  • the front lifts like crazy. go tsuchiya

  • Quite soft suspension settings and sway-bars. I'm quite surprised

  • Perhaps something to do with road tyres? Because usually stiff suspension is coupled with good grip (=semi/slick) tyres and vice versa... at least I've got that impression...

  • Well you'd be quite correct there my good man but normally you would set the car up stiff for a longer/faster circuit. Agreed though, cause you don't want them too stiff for roads/road tyres (= skidding/less grip normally)

  • @toy200sx me too

  • How can that possibly be his fastest lap when he missed a gear on the up-change 3 times?

  • i just noticed it's not actually that low

  • @AnonymoussourceL0L the road car was pretty soft riding aswell. Because it wasn't designed as a race car, simply to be the best road car. However if you have the LM, that's a very different story. haha

  • Very cool to watch a pro do the heel and toe shifting...
