@calisaetia gives it more of a cinematic look, sort of a professional look with the black boarders, and anamorphic lens flares, there like flares from light but anamorphic ones stretch out

this is just amazing because usually most generic lenses, ESPECIALLY japanese ones suck serious ass. But this is amazing. I'm guessing you got it from ebay user popflash.photo888?

@sonicballer8888 yes that's the one :) $115 on Ebay. For the HV40 I had to get a 43mm to 52mm step up ring. Yeah I like this lens especially for the money. Thanks for the comments.

I've trying to get the generic to focus well using my GH1 with a Nikon 50mm 1.4 How sharp would you say your focus is? Are you using a Canon lens?

Hey Jason, this video was shot with the canon ef lens. As far as focus goes, I didn't really pay attention with this test but it should be pretty sharp. I think on that 1.4 if you step down a few it will get sharper. Give that a try.

Stepping down to f5 helped. I am going to try a Canon 28mm and see if a wider angle lens is beneficial.

@strancali Jason, I just got a hold of a Canon EF 35mm F 2.0 lens and I love the sharpness of it. I'll throw it on the Canon T1i for a quick test to see if it works well with this generic lens.

Thank you for posting this. I also have an HV40 and I've been looking at this lens, but I'm concerned about image quality (focus problems, especially on the edges of the image.) It's a little hard to tell from your video because of the lighting, but it doesn't look too bad. I hope you can post some tests with the HV40 and this lens, hopefully the image doesn't get too degraded.

@MalfunctioningHuman Hi, the lens is very good considering the price. This video was shot at almost dark and I didn't bother to set the settings as I was running out of time and wanted to test the ratio. I also have a HV40 and will shoot some outdoor shots tuesday and I'll post it up. You won't regret it, it's the best lens I have purchased for under $300 and this thing blows away any wide angle adapters including the canon wd-h43 which I am selling.

Thanks, strancali. The image looks really nice, but it's hard to tell how sharp it is. If you could post some tests with the HV40 in good lighting that would be awesome. My finger is over the "Buy it Now" button. :)

@MalfunctioningHuman yea I was mainly concerned about the ratio but I thought I had the focus right. It's hard to tell with the small lcds but I will shoot another test tomorrow and this time make sure it's in focus :).

Hi, it's on ebay for $115, it's called "Generic 16:9 Anamorphic Lens". Simply attach it to your lens and align, you will need a step down ring adapter "58mm-52mm" to fit the T1i's stock eos lens (about $5.00). So for $120 it's not bad. I'll shoot some footage next week with proper settings as this day, I had just picked up the ring adapter from my dad's house and came out and shot some test before it got dark. Let me know if you can find the lens on Ebay.
