  • The Bradbury also appeared in the Quantum Leap episode 'Play It Again Seymour', I think?

  • Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies and your video is awesome.

    You've done a man's job, sir!

  • Great Video, Very Interesting Must be good to just grab your camera, go out & visit some of the locations from Blade Runner.

Like how you mixed the Audio over both film & Present day footage, & the angles Is what really does It you caught those perfectly otherwise Its hard to picture them both together.

Honestly this Is something that should be on some Special Features, I Know I'ld be very Interested.

  • Thre are two versions in DVD. I have both cuts: they differ mostly in the Harrison Ford voice over narrative. My prefered version has the voice over work which aids greatly with understanding the story.

  • @ratatui66 so why are u watching it ?

  • I am...impressed...

  • Epic... *speachless*

  • As a major BR-fan(atic) I totally love this "documentary". I do hope I have the chance to visit the spots in person 2019.

And next year, 2012, it's the 30th anniversary, a great reason for a BR-themed party.

  • Excellent - thank you for making and posting this.

  • Fuck !!!! this video is awesome. thx for the video

  • I have seen Blade Runner about 40 times. I just started to learn Japanese and I watched it again and could read some of the neon signs. Something about the movie seemed to be different; for the first time I saw the movie as not being negative but inspirational. There are so many different languages and branches of human culture all toghether in one city. I am on my fourth language now and something has changed in my consciousness as a result.

  • Nice matching!

  • Wasn't the Ennis house used in The Rocketeer?

  • Wow...Great video.

    I love "BLADE RUNNER"

    Thanks!!

  • i thought blade runner was filmed in hong kong

  • @RobertsDigital you tool

  • Goood Job !!!!

  • Oh, this film made me fall in love with downtown LA. I still love it to this day.

  • @hrod55 We're moving there, but I don't know which parts to avoid living in.

  • Great job!

  • This location vid is a great gift to fans. I didn't even know the front pillars of the Bradbury building were put there for the film. It must have been great walking through those places. I am supposed to shoot a riff on Blade Runner and it helps to see how they adapted the sites. The film itself has many lethargic buffers between dramatic scenes that work autonomously. If it had taken its environment for granted, the movie would have been a big hit in 1982.

  • 2019 - thats so bullshit, 2119 perhaps. 2219 more likely

  • @Pumpsify the movie was done in 1981

  • @pinboyjorf Doesn't really matter.

  • @gungrave4ever I agree.

  • Outstanding

  • this is awesome!

  • is that the same place where 500 days of summer was filmed?

  • @007Fortis - Yes, as well as Heart's "Nothing At All" video.

  • kewl vid ..informative...it just izz

  • Bishop to King 7. Checkmate, I think

  • @Killinemdead1 milk & cookies kept you awake?

  • Thanks for this vid! I always wondered if the set were real or build on set. As for Brion James (Leon), after he died, there was hardly anything mentioned of his death in the media. The guy was a great actor and had made a lot of films... RIP.

  • This is the movie of my live. I´ve seen it for 20 times in english and 20 times in spanish. It is strang but i feel that my next live is going to be in a escenario like this.

Hope one day, before I die that I can see where the movie was made. Great jobe to all of you. Richard Smits.

  • Wow. This is very interesting. Nice work HerveAttia. This movie had definitely left an impression on me. The music score and Syd Mead designs won me over. I did not want the experience to end. I had presumed that when the film was made that they filmed the scenes in a film studio. I am overjoyed by this tour.

    "He say you Bladerunna"

"Tell em I am watching youtube." =)

  • This film's special effects and the film as a whole really stood the test of time. Great script, acting, music, cinematography, set design, and direction. A cinematic masterpiece.

  • Great job! Wil you be joining us in Los Angeles in 2019?

  • This film has so much resonance :) every time I hear some phrases, or a little sample of that amazing score I just space out. A true true sci-fi classic. Not like the shitty transformers films ect today :D

  • This is excellent - a different perspective on my favourite film is always welcome. Thanks.

  • HAN SOLO!

  • Excellent!! work on my all time favorite movie!! and the last scene where the dove dont´t fly is nice!!

  • that is some CRAZY matte painting work there! You really gotta respect these movies that did this amazing stuff before computers.

  • Great video, thank you :)

  • This video is priceless!

  • 10 Replicants on the loose

  • This was a brilliant montage, very warmly and intelligently done. Also very informative, I have learned more about the Blade Runner here than ever since I saw the movie. I watched Blade Runner few years later after it came out. Being a (legal) emigrant who could not speak the language I was isolated from the daily life trends I knew nothing of this movie until I was led on by some of my high school friends who knew how much I loved Science Fiction. Blade Runner became one of my top favorite.

  • Hah, the dove at the end wasn't in the mood to fly. Guess he was the real director for that shoot.

  • Great li'l doc. YOU'VE DONE A MAN'S JOB, SIR!! :-D

  • This is one of the movies that really stayed in me until the present day...every time i watch it it brings in this nostalgic feeling of a future that never was but still is so real and perfectly concieved...for me it is a strong and strange vibe...like a memory of something that never happened but still very real!!! it's about a real "time" that never was! But who knows...maybe in a parallel dimension...and there are just too many to be told!

  • @pedrofsantos

Very elequently stated. A historic time never to be...

  • @pedrofsantos "its too bad she wont live ... but then again who does !?" -blade runner does ;) (;

  • LOL at that last scene. They wanted the bird to fly away (his soul acending to bio-mechanical heaven) but birds don't like to fly in the rain so it just hopped off his knee and wandered away. Thanks for that.

  • Best video I have seen on youtube

  • First time i saw this film i hated it........things change.

  • @68blues

I kinda go with the idea I was not mature enough to see what the movie was about and was too much into still seeing him as Han Solo verses all of his other Platinum performances. THIS movie being one of them ...

  • @ShauKenshin.......Good point, i was hoping for something similar to an Indiana Jones type performanceso i was really glad i went back to it.....five or six times.

    A masterpiece.

  • How did you get access to the upper floors of the Bradbury building? When I went, the security guards prevented me from going up the staircases.

  • Nice vid, could have done without all the videocopilot copying.

  • I would watch a BladeRunner 2 if Ridley made it.

  • @ravensday1 the closes he ever got to part 2 was Black rain. Still a fantastic movie though.

  • Ive seen that house in more than one movie

  • Totally agree with staredsky, all I can say is thank you for your professionalism and enthusiam fot Blade Runner, fans is tine to aplause.

  • really??? they used after effects for this movie????? dang

  • A movie for a lifetime

  • Congratulations: this is an excelent job, a video of professional quality.

Thanks for showing so many interesting thinghs about the movie.

  • As Ridley might say...

"That is a good fan video, yeah?"

"Like they got what I was trying to do, they understood that, and went with it, yeah?"

"Nothing against fan videos, but please respect what pains went into making that stuff, yeah?"

    "I quite like this one"

    "yeah?"

  • Great work, Herve.

I Love the way Ford does his 'snap-clap' thing around 8.00. Was it used for a commercial back then?

  • masterpiece. as a Br fan since 1982... I cried.

  • Somehow I just don’t see this vision happening it would take years to build these like different buildings and what if L.A. had the bottle to make such buildings it would really change the skyline but they don’t have the bottle to build such huge like buildings. Sorry I just don’t see it happening not for many decades, if not never.

It’s time to come out of the clouds and come back down to reality. As much as I like it as film, Blade Runner is fictional story.

  • AWESOME video!

  • 10:20 Don't piss Pris off she looks mad!

10:24 get you're mits off me you electrical sheep loving bitch!

You're kidding I wasn't aware Brion James passed away.

    RIP Replicant

  • Gorgeous Sean Young at 8:00.

  • with all the crap they put out these days it should be in the top 5 the next time they rank this movie.. But I am looking forward to Tron !!! :)

  • @Bladerunner55217 Never mind top 5 - this IS No 1 ;-)

  • In catalan (English on the comment below):

Un treball magistral per a una obra mestra.

Felicitats Hervé, però que podem dir que millori el que el Sr. Hauer t'ha escrit?

Et vaig descobrir per casualitat la setmana passada i estic vinculant alguns dels teus treballs al fbk aconseguint bon feed-back, he vist que ja s'està movent i altres amics ho estan compartint... Potser notaràs un increment de les visites aquests dies.

    Estic de genolls, Mestre Attia!

    Juntament amb colegues cine...

    (Falta espai)

  • A Masterwork for a Masterpiece.

Congratulations Hervé, but what can we say to improve Mr. Hauer's writting to you!?

I've discovered you by chance llast week and I am posting some of your works in fbk getting quite a good feed-back, I've seen it's already moving and some other fiends are sharing... Perhaps you'll nottice bigger aproach this days.

I am on my knees, Master Attia!

... Together with my buddys, some other filmmakers, friends, colleagues and teachers from our old film school.

  • I saw the effects on VIDEOCOPILOT

  • awesome work ! Keep on rockin ;-)

  • whats with the really shitty VFX clips that have just been thrown into the mix? E.g, the Bradbury Theatre shot with the AWFUL rain effect?

  • good, like a bullet

  • WAIT! You mean that that ENNIS HOUSE really exists? Wow! If I ever get rich, I'll buy it :o

  • This is a great post for a great movie!

That Bradbury building is famous for it's details and has been used in a lot of movies. It's amazing how many of Loyd Wright's buildings have been used as "futuristic" settings in so many movies.

  • @Bullettube Yeah! Loyd building have something surreal on them.

  • That Bradbury building is famous for it's details and has been used in a lot of movies. It's amazing how many of Loyd Wright's buildings have been used as "futuristic" settings in so many movies.

  • amazing it couldnot be done better

  • I have watched this movie a million times and can't stop

  • This is glorious !

  • Wonderful !!

  • Fabulous 'behind the scenes' filmed in a unique manner.

  • An earlier science fiction classic, "Demon with a Glass Hand", was filmed mostly in the Bradbury Building. It is interesting to compare with this video, and to see how the building has changed over time.

  • Excellent video - really enjoyed it. As a BR fan, this is a real treat. Thx

  • The interior of Deckard's appartment 3:30 was a set. The production designer took castings from the exterior walls of the location, then used them on set in the LA soundstage. They also built the fake columns 4:36 outside the Bradbury building.

  • Terrific video; thanks Herve!

  • 97th best my ass. This is my #1 movie of all time! I remember watching it 15-20 times after it came out which I've never done for any other movie. I wish they had filmed a sequel though.

More Human Than Human ;). -WZ

  • Is everything on here made off of Video CoPilot??? Seriously. I stopped 5 seconds after watching this. I cant get over the fact that none of these effects are of original descent... To me this video doesn't have any meaning.

  • Nice edit!

    ♡♡♡

  • Really great work. Well done Herve.

  • Amazing, amazing work! Excellent job!

As a major fan of the movie, I can tell you that driving through the 2nd Street Tunnel, or even peaking inside the Bradbury Building always chokes me up. It's an emotional experience for any fan.

As fro AFI. sorry, but 97th is 96 places too low.

THanks for this wonderful video tribute to the most prefect movie ever made!

  • #1 !

  • The description of the Android @ 02m15s is somewhat interesting (imho). "What's this?" "Nexus Six. Inception date: 2016. Combat model. Optimum self sufficiency."

  • Hi all! earn 1000USD or more

I'm looking for someone who can do a short promotional film on the 40s, more info contact me at mirbaz@msn.com

  • My God... I was looking for videos themed with Blade Runner and found this briliant gem of art, your video. Thank you very much for sharing with us and for inspiring our day with this special research about a precious film. Best wishes from here, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil [by the way, you convinced me to subscribe your channel!]

  • wow! just a great vid! Blade Runner is still my favorite movie and if I ever get to visit LA the first thing I'm going to do is vist all the locations!!

  • @pjdr Same here. I'd love to see the Bradbury Building and the Ennis House. And of course...drive thru that tunnel.

  • Great stuff! I'd love to visit the Ennis House and the Bradbury Building.

  • The Bradbury Bldg was also featured in the 1986 movie Murphey's Law staring Charles Bronson. another good movie yet so underrated.

  • I would like to visit the Bradbury the design is so classic

  • Love the Ending Theme Song

  • filming

  • Fantastic I had no idea where these locations where or some of them even existing? Thanks for posting!

  • Seamless editing. Nice work!

  • sweet demo

  • I am a big Blade Runner fan too. This vid is awesome.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Hi Herve (and everyone else)

Im a big Blade Runner fan and I can honest to God say that this little movies is the best darn thing I've ever seen on the Internet and that's the truth. As we fans usually say

    You've done a man's job :)

  • Holy Fucking Shit Balls 270,000 dollars dont get me wrong its a freaking sweet gun by godddd dammm

  • Sweet work

  • 97th best movie of all time ? For me its right up there in my top ten !

  • So the movie actually used real locations? no props?

  • I agree, one of the best films ever

  • I wonder what this movie would have been like if Arnold Schwarzenegger was in it.

  • it would have been super awesome and neato!!!

  • @JimTheMingebag easy GET TO DA HOVERCA (NO MISSPELLING ARNOLD ACCENT) :D

  • @JimTheMingebag or chuck norris xD

  • @JimTheMingebag ARGGHH, GET TO THE REPLICANT

  • @JimTheMingebag Don't even go there, man. Terminator only succeeded IN SPITE of The Arnball, not because of it.

  • @JimTheMingebag It would be, like, Total Recall. Now I'm wondering how much better Total Recall might have been with Harrison Ford. (Oo...)

  • @JimTheMingebag it would have been simply more awesome!!

  • @JimTheMingebag

    ARGAHHRRGGAHHH GET TO DA HOVERCAR!!!!!

  • @JimTheMingebag

It would have been a complete failure, in my opinion. Shwarzenegger was great in Conan, Terminator...this film however required someone with a more sophisticated persona than Arnold. Maybe Sean Connery would have pulled it off, but nah..Ford was the man.

  • @FloridaWakeUp Surely jim meant as Roy Batty. Which he would have been shit as. Rutger's da man.

  • @JimTheMingebag Shit

  • @JimTheMingebag Yeah lets say that with W.Snipes we would have called it Blade.

  • @JimTheMingebag Toilet paper

  • @FritsFlits

    Sorry?

    What do you mean?

  • @JimTheMingebag You cybernetic organisms are all a bunch of girlie robots! Stop your whining and just drop dead you idioooooot!

  • @JimTheMingebag if he replaced ford... the movie would truly suck. ford did an amazing job. is arnold was in it, it would be filled with shitty one liners and cheesy effects

  • @thehappysock

Your forgot "and very ...very forgettable" Ford did to this movie what sigorni weaver did for aliens. Everything was great, but if you used a one liner actor, this would NOT have been the plate of awesone it is today, the ONLY way I could see this movie doing better is if, Clint Eastwood did the flick, they were both pretty young then, just think, his command in this movie might have made it into a different type of movie, but still notworthy.

  • @thehappysock Blade Runner with Arnold, one liners and cheesy special effects?

You just described the movie Total Recall! ( which was also based on a Phillip J. Dick short story)

Not that I hated Total Recall, mind you.. I liked it a a lot, but for different reasons than Blade Runner.

  • @JimTheMingebag

    Real shitty

  • Videocopilot addict...

  • thanks for posting i just came back from L.A and visited the Bradbury Building and 2nd street tunnel (sad its full of homeless people) . True fan from Australia

  • awsome!

  • Excellent!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant!!!

  • The song I was looking for is only available on the "Esper" edition, which I actually just downloaded earlier tonight after literally months if not years of waiting.

  • The best film ever made, its amazes me how the more we find out about this movie the more fantastic it becomes.

  • I think that the workmanship of this video work is really great. The visual expressions are splendid, too.

  • Very impressive.

  • Well, i'm afraid, they will for the 30th anniversary release a limited 4-CD with the 50%-Soundtrack. Our grandchilds will face the complete edition .... probably ...

  • I really wish you could get the music when Deckard enters the Bradbury building. Shame its an unreleased track.

  • That's sad, but true. There isn't still the complete BR-Soundtrack. But watch out for the Esper Edition.

  • Cool i'll look out for that. I hope they just release the COMPLETE soundtrack for the 30th anniversary of the film

  • You probably can get the music you are referring to, Vangelis released a triple disc Blade Runner soundtrack not too long ago.

  • watch out spielberg, herves coming to get ya.Great work as usual,Hope the next film you do is scarface

  • This is absolutely amazing

  • Wow this is Great!! , for blade runner fetishists like myself its a real neat treat!!

    Sweeeet Work!!.

  • I really like that! Very good and well placed fades...

Besides the Movie, i also advice the '97 pc-game "Blade Runner". It also have these stunning locations, but a little different storyline than the movie. Try it!

  • What an awesome video! I love Blade Runner, and seeing all the different locations is awesome. Seeing the inside of the Bradbury was cool. Again, great video!

  • Very good idea.

Filmsets of great films always tricker the imagination. This could inspire many more creative people to do the same.

  • always enjoy behind the scenes - you did an excellent job of combing reality with the movie

  • You have done a man's job.

    Thank you Herve.

  • do you think 2019 will look like blade runner

  • no. 2200's might be close though.

  • Great job, I hope you're next assignment is "A Clockwork Orange", that would rock.

  • Love it. So awesome man. 5 stars!

  • ohhh, fantastico .precioso ,quiero vivir en eso mundo de blade runner

  • FANTASTIC video! Herve, you have a knack for picking THE best movies. I saw Blade Runner at the theater when it opened. As a kid just out of high school, the film was a step above everything else coming out then. I know you love 1980s movies, so how about "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"? If you really have some time on your hands, I'd love to see you do "The Godfather." I know you already have a plan for the next one. I hope I guessed right...

  • Great job. I'm a huge 80s movie fan so these location documentaries are gold to me. I would love to see Mr Herve scout the areas used for Lethal Weapon in the future!

  • Nice job on it. I am surprised you survived standing around downtown LA with a camera.

  • Fantastic!

  • Totally awesome. So the "Bradbury" was a 'real' building ! Deckard's apartment location was a total shock.

His "Blaster" looks like it is based on a Steyr-Mannlicher "Professional" rifle action.

  • keep it up

  • Merci beaucoup, une fois de plus, tu assures.

Thanx again for your job, it's just amazing !

  • i like it herve .

the special effects are really good . great video editing work.

  • Herve is THE man, and I am not saying that because he happens to be a (really) good friend! Talented, passionate, and full of ressources...much more to come from this artist. Thanks for letting us dream Herve! (and for taking me along the ride)
