Great Video, Very Interesting Must be good to just grab your camera, go out & visit some of the locations from Blade Runner.
Like how you mixed the Audio over both film & Present day footage, & the angles Is what really does It you caught those perfectly otherwise Its hard to picture them both together.
Honestly this Is something that should be on some Special Features, I Know I'ld be very Interested.
Thre are two versions in DVD. I have both cuts: they differ mostly in the Harrison Ford voice over narrative. My prefered version has the voice over work which aids greatly with understanding the story.
I have seen Blade Runner about 40 times. I just started to learn Japanese and I watched it again and could read some of the neon signs. Something about the movie seemed to be different; for the first time I saw the movie as not being negative but inspirational. There are so many different languages and branches of human culture all toghether in one city. I am on my fourth language now and something has changed in my consciousness as a result.
This location vid is a great gift to fans. I didn't even know the front pillars of the Bradbury building were put there for the film. It must have been great walking through those places. I am supposed to shoot a riff on Blade Runner and it helps to see how they adapted the sites. The film itself has many lethargic buffers between dramatic scenes that work autonomously. If it had taken its environment for granted, the movie would have been a big hit in 1982.
Thanks for this vid! I always wondered if the set were real or build on set. As for Brion James (Leon), after he died, there was hardly anything mentioned of his death in the media. The guy was a great actor and had made a lot of films... RIP.
This is the movie of my live. I´ve seen it for 20 times in english and 20 times in spanish. It is strang but i feel that my next live is going to be in a escenario like this.
Hope one day, before I die that I can see where the movie was made. Great jobe to all of you. Richard Smits.
Wow. This is very interesting. Nice work HerveAttia. This movie had definitely left an impression on me. The music score and Syd Mead designs won me over. I did not want the experience to end. I had presumed that when the film was made that they filmed the scenes in a film studio. I am overjoyed by this tour.
This film's special effects and the film as a whole really stood the test of time. Great script, acting, music, cinematography, set design, and direction. A cinematic masterpiece.
This film has so much resonance :) every time I hear some phrases, or a little sample of that amazing score I just space out. A true true sci-fi classic. Not like the shitty transformers films ect today :D
This was a brilliant montage, very warmly and intelligently done. Also very informative, I have learned more about the Blade Runner here than ever since I saw the movie. I watched Blade Runner few years later after it came out. Being a (legal) emigrant who could not speak the language I was isolated from the daily life trends I knew nothing of this movie until I was led on by some of my high school friends who knew how much I loved Science Fiction. Blade Runner became one of my top favorite.
This is one of the movies that really stayed in me until the present day...every time i watch it it brings in this nostalgic feeling of a future that never was but still is so real and perfectly concieved...for me it is a strong and strange vibe...like a memory of something that never happened but still very real!!! it's about a real "time" that never was! But who knows...maybe in a parallel dimension...and there are just too many to be told!
LOL at that last scene. They wanted the bird to fly away (his soul acending to bio-mechanical heaven) but birds don't like to fly in the rain so it just hopped off his knee and wandered away. Thanks for that.
I kinda go with the idea I was not mature enough to see what the movie was about and was too much into still seeing him as Han Solo verses all of his other Platinum performances. THIS movie being one of them ...
@ShauKenshin.......Good point, i was hoping for something similar to an Indiana Jones type performanceso i was really glad i went back to it.....five or six times.
Somehow I just don’t see this vision happening it would take years to build these like different buildings and what if L.A. had the bottle to make such buildings it would really change the skyline but they don’t have the bottle to build such huge like buildings. Sorry I just don’t see it happening not for many decades, if not never.
It’s time to come out of the clouds and come back down to reality. As much as I like it as film, Blade Runner is fictional story.

That Bradbury building is famous for it's details and has been used in a lot of movies. It's amazing how many of Loyd Wright's buildings have been used as "futuristic" settings in so many movies.
That Bradbury building is famous for it's details and has been used in a lot of movies. It's amazing how many of Loyd Wright's buildings have been used as "futuristic" settings in so many movies.
Herve Attia has done a brilliant job of editing this compilation of location shots in Blade Runner. I particularly like the interspersing of the dark interior shots in the Bradbury Building in BR with the site in real light which give viewers a clear view of the gorgeous detail of that historic building. Thank you.

Is everything on here made off of Video CoPilot??? Seriously. I stopped 5 seconds after watching this. I cant get over the fact that none of these effects are of original descent... To me this video doesn't have any meaning.
As a major fan of the movie, I can tell you that driving through the 2nd Street Tunnel, or even peaking inside the Bradbury Building always chokes me up. It's an emotional experience for any fan.
As fro AFI. sorry, but 97th is 96 places too low.

wow! just a great vid! Blade Runner is still my favorite movie and if I ever get to visit LA the first thing I'm going to do is vist all the locations!!
Im a big Blade Runner fan and I can honest to God say that this little movies is the best darn thing I've ever seen on the Internet and that's the truth. As we fans usually say
It would have been a complete failure, in my opinion. Shwarzenegger was great in Conan, Terminator...this film however required someone with a more sophisticated persona than Arnold. Maybe Sean Connery would have pulled it off, but nah..Ford was the man.
@JimTheMingebag if he replaced ford... the movie would truly suck. ford did an amazing job. is arnold was in it, it would be filled with shitty one liners and cheesy effects
Your forgot "and very ...very forgettable" Ford did to this movie what sigorni weaver did for aliens. Everything was great, but if you used a one liner actor, this would NOT have been the plate of awesone it is today, the ONLY way I could see this movie doing better is if, Clint Eastwood did the flick, they were both pretty young then, just think, his command in this movie might have made it into a different type of movie, but still notworthy.
thanks for posting i just came back from L.A and visited the Bradbury Building and 2nd street tunnel (sad its full of homeless people) . True fan from Australia
The song I was looking for is only available on the "Esper" edition, which I actually just downloaded earlier tonight after literally months if not years of waiting.
Well, i'm afraid, they will for the 30th anniversary release a limited 4-CD with the 50%-Soundtrack. Our grandchilds will face the complete edition .... probably ...
I really like that! Very good and well placed fades...
Besides the Movie, i also advice the '97 pc-game "Blade Runner". It also have these stunning locations, but a little different storyline than the movie. Try it!
What an awesome video! I love Blade Runner, and seeing all the different locations is awesome. Seeing the inside of the Bradbury was cool. Again, great video!
FANTASTIC video! Herve, you have a knack for picking THE best movies. I saw Blade Runner at the theater when it opened. As a kid just out of high school, the film was a step above everything else coming out then. I know you love 1980s movies, so how about "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"? If you really have some time on your hands, I'd love to see you do "The Godfather." I know you already have a plan for the next one. I hope I guessed right...
Great job. I'm a huge 80s movie fan so these location documentaries are gold to me. I would love to see Mr Herve scout the areas used for Lethal Weapon in the future!
Herve is THE man, and I am not saying that because he happens to be a (really) good friend! Talented, passionate, and full of ressources...much more to come from this artist. Thanks for letting us dream Herve! (and for taking me along the ride)
The Bradbury also appeared in the Quantum Leap episode 'Play It Again Seymour', I think?

It would have been a complete failure, in my opinion. Shwarzenegger was great in Conan, Terminator...this film however required someone with a more sophisticated persona than Arnold. Maybe Sean Connery would have pulled it off, but nah..Ford was the man.

@FloridaWakeUp Surely jim meant as Roy Batty. Which he would have been shit as. Rutger's da man.

@JimTheMingebag if he replaced ford... the movie would truly suck. ford did an amazing job. is arnold was in it, it would be filled with shitty one liners and cheesy effects
thehappysock 11 months ago 8
@thehappysock

@thehappysock Blade Runner with Arnold, one liners and cheesy special effects?
You just described the movie Total Recall! ( which was also based on a Phillip J. Dick short story)
Not that I hated Total Recall, mind you.. I liked it a a lot, but for different reasons than Blade Runner.

The song I was looking for is only available on the "Esper" edition, which I actually just downloaded earlier tonight after literally months if not years of waiting.

The best film ever made, its amazes me how the more we find out about this movie the more fantastic it becomes.

I think that the workmanship of this video work is really great. The visual expressions are splendid, too.

Well, i'm afraid, they will for the 30th anniversary release a limited 4-CD with the 50%-Soundtrack. Our grandchilds will face the complete edition .... probably ...

I really wish you could get the music when Deckard enters the Bradbury building. Shame its an unreleased track.
saundersco 2 years ago
That's sad, but true. There isn't still the complete BR-Soundtrack. But watch out for the Esper Edition.
Andi242GER 2 years ago
Cool i'll look out for that. I hope they just release the COMPLETE soundtrack for the 30th anniversary of the film
saundersco 2 years ago
You probably can get the music you are referring to, Vangelis released a triple disc Blade Runner soundtrack not too long ago.

Very good idea.
Filmsets of great films always tricker the imagination. This could inspire many more creative people to do the same.

Totally awesome. So the "Bradbury" was a 'real' building ! Deckard's apartment location was a total shock.
His "Blaster" looks like it is based on a Steyr-Mannlicher "Professional" rifle action.
