good vid. i have also been reading what kyotorocks and serenamina have been saying, and i totally agree with what you guys say. But i think that a world where everyone is kind and giving is impossible, there will always be bad people out there. But we should still all do what we can to make the next person happy.

Yeah, there will always be bad people in this world, and there will always be evil. That doesn't mean we should give up trying to NOT be one of those people. Really, if all bad and all evil disappeared in this world, what would we have to compare to good deeds? They wouldn't mean as much in the end if there was no evil to counter it.

I really appreciate the sentiments here, they are to be commended. But what miserable corner of the world do you come from where holding a door open for someone is a "random" act of kindness ? Common cortesy surely ?

Or perhaps the world is generally more selfish and self-involved than I thought :(

Anyway, thanks, I hope the idea spreads like the plague, and isn't defeated so easily !

Actually holding the door for someone does happen where I'm at on a regular basis, but there are some places where it doesn't happen, and there are the occasions everywhere where it doesn't happen.

Thank you for the comment and I do hope it spreads too because it is definantly easy to make a big difference by doing small things.

Oh absolutley, if everyone tries to take care of themselves and those around them without adversely affecting anyone else, life would be pretty easy and we would all get along just fine !!

I think most problems on this planet are caused by the little things that we know to be wrong but tolerate because of greed/laziness/thoughtlessness etc.

I think so too. Just general lack of compassion as well. I see a lot of people that just could care less about anyone but themselves, and its sad because overall that attitude just spreads throughout. It's actually one of the reasons I really like that this foundation exists. Because honestly, little things that just show you CARE about someone other than yourself says a lot more than any amount of money you send to a charity

Yeah, funny (well sad!) how heartless people can be because they think thats how the world works, oblivious to the fact that they are keeping the vicious circle going.

Also a shame that the media genrally love a bad story, and so much generosity goes un-noticed.

I'm not sure many charities overall have a good affect. I mean they do good work, but often seem to cover up the fact that such problems should be priorites, not dependent on "random acts of generosity".

But then I guess theres no obvious guaranteed profit in ending poverty famine etc, however relativley easily they are solved compared to, say, getting peace in the middle east.

I have no problem with charities. Donations do help do amazing things. But I do feel that sending money to someone for a charity shouldn't be the only thing you depend on to feel good about yourself as a person. And money shouldn't be the only thing used to spread hope.

I first learned about "random acts of kindness" from a woman who told me how she would find a rose in the store floral section, would purchase it and tell the cashier to give it to the 5 person after she left, just because.

To me, that held more meaning then just donating money to somewhere. Its small, it didnt take a lot, and the idea that this random person may have been having a horrible day, week, month, year. Can you imagine how surprised and wonderful it would have felt to be given something like a flower? I don't know, I just feel that the small gesture goes loads farther than a check in the mail.

In fact, this woman that did the flower thing, also inspired an act I do during..

the holidays.

I buy a box of holiday cards (non religious or holiday specific). I use the ones I need for family and friends, and then take the extras, put To: You From: Me on them and hand them to strangers who either 1. are doing something to help others (bell ringers in the cold and the like) or 2. look like they could really use a pick me up.

I feel better doing this because Im spreading more cheer to others than just those who I care about. It's a GREAT feeling!

I know just what you mean, it sounds corny but there is a sense of worthwhile-ness in doing something for someone else that is not possible to get from more self involved actions. It can even become addictive, or a habit of attitude (which is no bad thing!).

And don't get me wrong, ALOT of charity work has an affect that I don't think we'll appreciate until it stops. I just mean that some of this work is so good that it covers up the fact that such problems shouldn't exist or be tolerated.

Oh definantly! I do believe that there are a lot of people in the world that have NO IDEA how good things are for them.

But at the same time too, I wonder how much better the world would be if EVERYONE was kind and generous to each other.

Everyone wants the same thing in life... to be happy. It would be fantastic if it was black and white and you could live life with that understanding and let it help you everyday. Common curtesy and general generousity seem to get pushed aside by the bad.

I just wish more people would realise that actually there is very little that is essential. If we all had a place to live and enough to eat so much of the crap in this world would be exposed as un-neccesary and so very obviously wrong.

Anyway I salute you, fine work and a great attitude! Here's to a kinder less selfish future for all !!

But isn't the point of life to be happy? Are you saying that there should be evil in the world? Because i think that if everyone was a genuinely good person then everyone would be happy.

Well, life would be a lot easier I think if there was evil in the world. Does that mean I think there should be? No. But what we see as evil will change. If the worst thing that ever happened was someone forgetting to say thank you, then we would find it evil, because we wouldn't have anything worse than that happening. It's impossible NOT to have evil in this world. Evil is an opinion, nothing more.

Hm. I don't get what your trying to say. You said 'life would be a lot easier i think if there was evil in the world'...I can't see what your trying to get at, but i guess it is irrelevant because as you said its impossible not to hae evil in this world. But i believe the point of life is to have fun: be happy, and if that is achieved for you by doing something nice, no matter how small i encourage you to do so :)

This is really great. I tackle a small goal a week in my vlog channel, and this week's challenge is to do one RAOK a day. Hopefully it will encourage me to continue with this goal, and motivate others to do the same!

My back is so sore from shoveling that day, but it doesn't compare to how good I felt helping that couple out. (cheesey, i know, but true. go nerdfighters!!!)
