  • When Robert Lansing was fired many years ago from 12'Oclock High I wrote a letter of protest because Paul Burke as Gallagher would never replace the image of Savage to run the 918th Bomb Group. Captain and later to Colonel you know how he managed to get that through connection's with his Father in the Pentagon.

Colonel Joseph Gallaher what a laugh I was through with the show after that.

  • This was the pilot episode although there was another episode (with Andrew Prine) that was filmed before it. This pilot episode was based on the movie as well as the novel. Robert Lansing was fired from the show although they claimed they were targeting a younger audience. He didn't get along with Quinn Martin, and quality-wise it was a major FAIL for the series. Paul Burke was a good actor; Robert Lansing was an excellent actor.

  • @snarkytooth thanks. I agree: Robert Lancing was better. It's too bad they killed him off, though. It left no opening to bring him back in the event the testosterone level cooled off for the sake of the show. gmt

  • Classic! Loved Gallagher and glad he became a regular, but Savage was...just that! Wonderful series.
