The pioneers were hit with a plague as promised in the Bible, "true Church",, lets have a look, what does the word church mean?, the word "church" in the New Testament is always the Greek word "ekklesia", meaning God's "called out ones".so it does not consist of persons that through their own choice join, but rather, it's people who God has called out to, "chosen ones", that can join, does Mormons make members out of any one who wants to join?, Yes, does God, NO !,, so there's a difference !.
You fault the LDS Church for baptizing those who have come unto Christ, forsaken their sins, and desire to be baptized? I would remind you of Peter's invitation, for example, in Acts 2:38.
A person cannot come unto Christ, he can only have the desire, Christ comes unto His sheep, given to him by the Father, they know his voice, they are in him, as he is in them, 2 Cor 1:22, The Holy Spirit is our "earnest" or "down payment" on our relationship to Christ, you have to know Jewish wedding traditions to understand this fully, he prepares a place for us, another Jewish bridegroom Pre wedding tradition, 10 virgin parable has many, the Millenium is another, you do not have the Gospel.
A person cannot go to Christ via the LDS church, or any church, once a person goes to Christ, he then decides if they are accepted in (spiritually), If you understood the parable of the 10 virgins, then you would know the LDS church is false, I would be only to willing to e-mail you the explained version, with scripture reference to validate, and likewise I'd like to hear your version, because I think it's Amazing how it all fits into place, in relation to Jewish wedding traditions.
You use that scripture to try to show we shouldn't prepare? Haha, that doesn't have anything to do with temporal preparation. You think it's unwise to save money as well?
Try the parable of the 10 virgins, which talks about preparation in general.
Sorry, but you have no understanding of that scripture, please allow me to help a little, 1 Cor,12:13, now does this say, person, authority, organization, ?,, I would go as far as to say, you have no idea how many times Jesus was baptized,
How many dry baptisms are carried out in the Bible ?, how about, around 4 million ?
1 Cor 10:2, millions of people baptized by the spirit, when passing through the Red sea, There's not one scripture to say we need someone in authority to baptize us, Alao I think you will find Ps 147:20 very interesting as far as the BOM story goes, back to baptism, Who baptized Jesus the second time ?,,
actually as stated in the 4th article of our faith its states the first principles and ordinances of the gospel that one is required in order to join the true church which are 1st- faith in the lord jesus christ 2nd- repentance 3rd baptism by immersion for the remission of sins and 4th- laying on of hands for the gift of the holy ghost... and 5th endure to the end. this is no plague this is the true church of Jesus Christ. your plague is pride and blindness to the truth freetube 121. sorry
Yes he was I wonder what he would say about gay marriage?I met him in October 1960 I was 17 years old he said a few words to me it was a thrill I also met Richard Nixon the same year and the again in 1968 and 1972.
John F. Kennedy spoke well of the Mormons, but he only spoke the truth from history. Let's hope Mormons can live up to their history in this day and time. As a group, I think they do.
Good post. I don't doubt that Kennedy respected Mormons as ideal Americans, but he was a politician afterall. I'd like to know what the context of the speech was. I've been searching online for his political angle there but haven't had much luck. Anyone know? Maybe it was just a well written acknowledgement, or maybe he also needed to gather support at that time.
Kennedy also suggests he had Mormon advisers["their voices heard in the highest councils of this country"] - who were they?
Kennedy may have been referring to Ezra Taft Benson, who later became the President of the Church, who was United States Secretary of Agriculture for both of the administrations of U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Good info on Benson. Also though, many times a councilor is not in a government position, but still tapped for expertise or consulted from time to time[as my dad was]. Kennedy could be referring to some Mormons who weren't in public office but were still consulted on government matters. Sctry of Agro is/was a key post but maybe there were those not in office(including former officials & experts like Benson). Anyway, I don't think Kennedy could say that, where he did, without it being true.
The mormons are full of crap, just like the rest. Couldn't they have fabricated a better prophet than someone named "Smith"? Come on! At least the other fictitious characters of old had cool names like Moses and Muhammad and Jesus. The mormons, in the process of cooking up their fake religion, lacked originality and effort, proving that they are phony AND lazy.
Dude, how ignorant can you get? What, did as pretty mormon girl tell you to take a hike when you asked her on a date, or what? If the name Smith is what gets you, maybe scientology is for you, after all, the creator of that had loads of cool names, give it a try, you just might be dumb enough.
I have see people to compare jesus with communism aswell, anyone can try to compare anything with what they wis, it still only remains to be a try. Pious muslims actually are a lot more respectable people than american average evangelical so mormons could take that as a compliment.
Perhaps he was a little more open-minded, or actually sought to learn about and understand the Mormons and not merely throw an unwarranted title like "cult" on the religion.
This video is great! JFK, what a tremendous source to remind us of what those of the Mormon faith have endured, and their great progress. As believers in Jesus Christ, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints strive to live our lives in harmony with His example. As we learn to love the Lord with all of our heart, mind and soul, it becomes easier to love our neighbor as ourself. May God continue to bless this great nation and may we live our lives in harmony with His word.
Mormons are Christians. We believe that God called a prophet in the early 1800s (Joseph Smith) to restore the fullness of Christianity and the gospel to the earth. For more information, send me a PM or go to mormon*org
The Internet is such a wonderful place to find information, yet so many use it for evil and perverse reasons. LDS9999, thanks for posting worthwhile videos that will not only inspire and uplift, but inform and present a further understanding.
The Church of Jesus Christ will continue to grow. I love being apart of it.
It may have been for votes, but the LDS Pioneers are a great example of the American Dream. Especially a great example of the America that JFK dreamt about.
WOW! I have never heard of this! That is amazing that JFK said that. This proves that our history says a lot about us and how far we will go for our beliefs and other Americans can learn from our history. lol.
I favorited this one, bud. Thank you so much for posting this. JFK is my favorite president. to hear this from him makes me admire him even more. It so good to hear these things about my church from such a prominent man like JFK. THanks again so much for posting this.
lds9999: Thank you for posting this and other videos about the Mormon Church; I believe that it has provided one more way for people to see some of the overwhelming positives surrounding The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"Of all the stories of American pioneers and settlers, none is more inspiring than the Mormon trail."
"The qualities of the founders of this community are the qualities that we seek in America. Qualities which we like to feel this country has--courage, patience, faith, self-reliance, perseverance, and above all, an unflagging determination to see the right prevail."
"Let us remember that the Mormons of a century ago were a persecuted and prosecuted minority, carried from place to place, the victims of violence and occasionally murder. While today, in the short space of 100 years, their faith and works are known and respected the world around and their voices heard in the highest councils of this country."

Your correlations here are skewed, built upon a strongman's argument.
Arguing that the church is false then equating it to the 10 virgins is the poorest correlative idea to which I have been subjected.
