There isn't a single actual news article online saying this really happen. It takes a real asshole to pull a hoax like this but an even bigger one to just let people not know. Even if it is just YouTube 'friends' there are plenty of folks who have had tragedy and this brings it back. Seriously--someone man up and post what is really going on.

The text in the video, while purporting to be from some third party boyfriend, has the same sentence structure and "voice" as many of the descriptions of his videos, indicating he probably wrote it. Additionally, he has videos before dramatizing suicide--which suggests to me that he is interested in seeing people's responses. Furthermore, the video itself is not convincing. In short, this is likely a hoax.

Too much contradictory stuff, and no independent confirmation. This has hoax written all over it, and suicide hoaxes are a shameful way to draw attention to one's self.

Videos don't get made "minutes before death" because typically the victim languishes in a semi conscious state for hours while they are slowly dying. That is why most of these suicides are unsuccessful, because they are usually discovered and receive medical treatment.

I am profoundly sadened by River's passing. I had thought that perhaps he was strong enough to give courage to so many young gay people that struggle with their identity. Alas it was not to be. For someone I have never met in person I will miss him and his video blog.
As there have been 4 suicides in my immediate family. While watching, loving, and supporting River, I did see this coming very quickly. There is nothing any of us could have ever said or done to help him. And, this includes you. You have my sympathy and support in any way I can provide to you. Know that I an crying, caring, and supporting there beside you right now. River will live forever in my memory; and his love will live forever in my heart.
I am so sorry. From observing his videos, I always thought he was a truly sad and troubled young man, but also quite talented. Please accept my sincere condolence. But - life must go on. Remember and cherish the good times you had together. May he rest in peace.
I'm sorry that this happened and let it all out. From the few videos that I have seen I could tell that made you happy. I think at the same time he would want you to stay strong. If this is false, remember there are helps available when you are depressed. There are always helps available for any problem out there. Suicide is not the choice to end the problem. You are not alone.
